Albuquerque is the main hub for BJJ tournaments in New Mexico, with a busy calendar run by both national and local organizers.
Recurring events include the AGF Albuquerque Open and Championships from the American Grappling Federation, NAGA's New Mexico and Albuquerque Grappling Championships, the New Mexico Games and the Newbreed Albuquerque Fall Championship. Grappling Industries Albuquerque, King of the Mat and the CompNet USA National Championship are also held here, and 10th Planet Albuquerque organizes events as well.
Gi and No-Gi divisions are offered in equal measure, and around a quarter of events include kids divisions. About one in five runs an absolute division. Adult entry is typically around $28–$170. October is the busiest month, followed by May, June and September.
