NZBJJF Wellington Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship - 2nd Edition
NZBJJF is proud to return to the capital for our second Wellington Open — a 4-STAR championship featuring Gi and No-Gi divisions for kids, teens, juveniles, and adults (all belts). Expect a professionally run event, fair play, and great matches under the IBJJF ruleset.

- Venue: Akau Tangi Sports Centre, 72 Kemp Street, Kilbirnie, Wellington 6022
- Check-in & Weigh-in: from 8:30 AM
- First Matches: 9:30 AM
- Schedule: Kids in the morning; Adults in the afternoon (Gi & No-Gi throughout the day)

Who Can Enter
Open to all academies nationwide. Divisions available for Kids, Teens, Juveniles, and Adults across all belt levels in Gi and No-Gi.This 4-STAR event earns NZBJJF National Ranking Points.

Rules & Age Method (IBJJF)
- The event follows the IBJJF Rulebook: https://ibjjf.com/rules
- Age divisions use the IBJJF year-of-birth method (age as at 31 December 2026).
Weigh-ins & Weight Selection
- Weigh-ins are in competition uniform (Gi for Gi; rashguard/shorts for No-Gi).
- Weight classes are listed as net body weight, with the uniform allowance in brackets.Example: 79 kg (82.3 kg) Gi = under 79.0 kg net and under 82.3 kg in full Gi at weigh-in.
- Important: Any athlete (kids, juveniles, adults) who weighs over the registered division at official weigh-in will be disqualified immediately.
- No division changes on the day or after brackets go live, and no refunds at that stage.
Checking Day
The day after registrations close is Checking Day.
- Confirm on Smoothcomp: weight, belt, academy, age division, name, and that you have opponents.
- You may edit your entry or cancel in Smoothcomp for a refund according to the policy below.
- After Checking Day, entries are non-refundable.
Refund Policy
- Until the last day of registration: 100% refund (via Smoothcomp).
- During Checking Day: Partial refund may be available.
- After Checking Day / once brackets are live: No refunds.

- Early-bird pricing during the early-bird window.
- Gi + No-Gi bundle: special discount when registering for both disciplines.

- $5.25 per child
- $8.25 per adult
- $24.75 family (up to 3)
- $33.00 family (up to 4)
- Free entry for Black Belts and Coaches with an active NZBJJF or IBJJF membership.
