Description
Verus Grappling Open is a professionally run Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament designed for serious competitors. The event features Gi and No-Gi divisions across multiple skill levels, transparent rulesets, and performance-based payouts in select adult expert divisions.

Coaching Passes will be available the night before at weigh-ins and day of the tournament.
Registrations must be finalized and paid for before the registration deadline. If payment is not finalized before the registration deadline, the registration will be considered incomplete.
Weigh-Ins:
Competitors may weigh in at the venue from 6-9 pm the day before and on the day of the event. Competitors are not required to weigh in wearing a Gi. All competitors must weigh in at least 60 minutes before the bracket begins. Competitors who fail to weigh in 60 minutes before their bracket starts will be disqualified. Competitors who miss the weight cut-off will be moved to the appropriate weight division. Please bring a valid government-issued ID for adult competitors to weigh in.
Brackets and Schedule:
Brackets and Schedule will be posted 48 hours before the event begins. Brackets may run up to 1 hour ahead of schedule.
Mergers:
Only masters, kids, and juvenile brackets can be merged. Competitors with available mergers will be given a credit for a future event after contacting verusgrappling@gmail.com. Competitors will not be contacted directly in the event of mergers; it is the competitor's responsibility to check their bracket and reach out if there are any concerns.
Capacity:
This event has a set capacity and registration will close once this event has reached its capacity.
Skill Divisions:
Skill divisions will be broken up by belt. You are allowed to compete above your belt in the adult divisions.
Awards:
This tournament offers monetary prizes to the winners of adult divisions ONLY; masters, juveniles, and kids DO NOT receive monetary prizes. The payout will be available in cash and check for prizes for $50-999, prizes over $1000 will be available in check only. Payouts will be determined as follows:
Weight Divisions:
Adult blue belt Gi and no Gi champions: $50 for every 8 competitors, maximum payout is $250
Adult purple belt Gi and no Gi champions: $75 for every 8 competitors, maximum payout is $500
Adult brown belt Gi and no Gi champions: $250 for every 8 competitors, maximum payout is $1000
Adult Black belt Gi and no Gi champions: $500 for every 8 competitors, no maximum.
Absolute Divisions:
Adult blue belt Gi and no Gi champions: $100 for every 8 competitors, no maximum
Adult purple belt Gi and no Gi champions: $200 for every 8 competitors, no maximum
Adult brown belt Gi and no Gi champions: $300 for every 8 competitors, no maximum
Adult Black belt Gi and no Gi champions: $400 for every 8 competitors, no maximum.
Sandbagging:
Sandbagging will be strictly enforced at this tournament. Your smooth comp profile must be public to enter any paid division. There will be zero tolerance for anyone caught sandbagging, and it will result in a PERMANENT BAN from Verus Grappling events.
Refund Policy:
A full refund to your original payment method is available until the refund deadline. No refunds will be issued after the refund deadline.
