True Grappling Submission Only (TGSO) was created by people who have spent years on the mats as competitors, coaches, referees, event staff, and members of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu community. We’ve seen firsthand how much this sport asks of its athletes: the countless hours of training, the sacrifices, the travel, the injuries, the entry fees, and the commitment it takes just to step onto the mat.

TGSO was built because we believe the people who give so much to this sport deserve events that give something back.

WHY TGSO EXISTS

We love Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and our goal isn’t simply to run tournaments. We want to contribute to the community that has given so much to us. That means creating events where competitors are encouraged to attack, take risks, and hunt for the finish.

It means creating an environment where kids can develop, adults can challenge themselves, experienced athletes can showcase their skills, and the people surrounding them can enjoy an event built with the grappling community in mind; and as TGSO grows, we want the opportunities we can give back to our athletes to grow with it.

THE TGSO ABSOLUTE PIT CHALLENGE

PUTTING THE ATHLETES FIRST.

The TGSO Absolute Pit Challenge represents one of the biggest ways we want to give back. Brown and black belts have dedicated years of their lives to reaching the highest levels of this sport. We want to create a stage where those athletes can showcase that skill and have the opportunity to be rewarded for it.

That’s why 100% of sponsorship funds specifically contributed to the TGSO Absolute Pit Challenge go directly toward the athletes' prize purses.

**TGSO does NOT keep a percentage of Pit sponsorship contributions. **

When a business sponsors the Pit, that support is meant for the competitors stepping inside it. As sponsorship support grows, so does the potential reward for the athletes.

MORE THAN A TOURNAMENT

We want TGSO to become something competitors are excited to attend, coaches are proud to support, families enjoy being part of, and athletes feel we built this tournament with them in mind.

We’re committed to creating opportunities for athletes, supporting the growth of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, working with gyms and businesses within our communities, and continuing to reinvest in the experience we provide.

We may be building the tournament, but the grappling community is the reason it exists.

OUR PROMISE

We will continue listening, learning, and improving. We won’t pretend every event will be perfect, but we will always work toward creating something that respects the competitors, the coaches, the families, the referees, and everyone else who gives their time to this sport.

TGSO was created from a genuine love for grappling and a desire to give something back to the community that helped shape us.
