2:30 PM at Stallion Gym

All competitors must check in before the start of the tournament.

Athletes should be fully prepared to compete after check-in. Please bring all required competition clothing and personal equipment with you.

Divisions

The tournament currently includes the following weight divisions:

  • Up to 65 kg
  • Up to 70 kg
  • Up to 80 kg

The weight shown for each division is the maximum permitted weight and not the minimum required weight.

For example, an athlete weighing 68 kg may compete in the up to 70 kg division.

Divisions may be combined, adjusted, or cancelled if there are not enough registered competitors. Athletes affected by such changes will be informed by the organizer.

Competition Format

The exact competition format will depend on the number of registered athletes in each division.

Depending on the final number of participants, divisions may be organized as:

  • Elimination brackets
  • Round-robin groups
  • A combination of group stages and elimination matches

The organizer may adjust the bracket format to provide athletes with a fair and competitive experience.

Final brackets will be published on Smoothcomp before the tournament.

Competitors are responsible for checking their bracket, estimated match times, and any updates published by the organizer.

Match Schedule

The tournament schedule and estimated match times will be published after registration has closed and the final brackets have been created.

All match times shown on Smoothcomp are estimates and may change during the event.

Athletes must remain close to the competition area and follow all announcements. A competitor who does not appear after being called may lose the match by walkover.

We recommend that all athletes arrive early and remain at the venue until their division has been completed.

Rules

All matches will be conducted according to the official rules selected for the STGT Stuttgart Grappling Trials.

Competitors are responsible for reading and understanding the rules before entering the competition.

The referee’s decision during a match must be respected. Unsportsmanlike conduct, intentional fouls, aggressive behavior toward officials, or disrespect toward opponents may lead to immediate disqualification.

The safety of all athletes is our highest priority.

Competitors are expected to release submissions immediately after their opponent taps or after the referee stops the match.

Competition Clothing

This is a No-Gi grappling event.

Competitors should wear:

  • A rashguard or tight-fitting athletic shirt
  • Grappling shorts, compression shorts, or spats
  • Clothing without pockets, zippers, metal parts, or hard plastic components

Loose clothing and equipment that could endanger either competitor are not permitted.

Shoes are not allowed on the competition mats.

Athletes must maintain appropriate personal hygiene. Fingernails and toenails must be trimmed, and competition clothing must be clean.

Health and Safety

Every athlete participates at their own risk and is responsible for ensuring that they are physically fit to compete.

Athletes must not compete if they have:

  • An infectious skin condition
  • An open or bleeding wound
  • Symptoms of illness
  • An injury that could place themselves or their opponent at unnecessary risk

The organizer and referees may prevent an athlete from competing if there are reasonable health or safety concerns.
