SHOGUN SHOWDOWN CHAMPIONSHIP 2026

Time: Tournament competition will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m.

Check-In / Doors Open: 8:00 a.m.

Referee and Coach Meeting: 8:30 a.m. – 9:15 a.m.

Weigh-Ins: Each dojo’s Head Sensei (or designated coach) is responsible for verifying and submitting competitor weights to the Tournament Director on Thursday, October 1, 2026 (within 48hours). Coaches should make every effort to ensure submitted weights are accurate.

Competitors who are unable to have their weight verified by their dojo may elect to weigh in at Shogun Judo & BJJ on the evening prior to the tournament during the designated weigh-in period (TBD). 

The Tournament Director reserves the right to verify an athlete’s weight and make division adjustments when necessary to ensure safety and fair competition.

Location: Broadway Recreation Center, Mesa, Arizona

Parking: Parking is limited. Ride-sharing is strongly encouraged.

Registration: Online registration only. No walk-in registrations will be accepted. Athletes registering for multiple divisions will receive a $20 discount on each additional division.

Registration Deadline: Sunday, September 27, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.

Late Registration: Monday, September 28, 2026, through Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.

Eligibility: All contestants must provide proof of current Judo federation membership. USA Judo, USJF, and ATF will be accepted.

Awards: First, Second, and Third Place

Medals: The top three competitors in each division will receive medals. First, Second, and Third Place winners will also earn 5, 3, and 1 point(s), respectively, toward their team score.

Competition Format:

- Divisions with five (5) or fewer competitors will be conducted as a true round robin format.

- Divisions with six (6) or more competitors will be conducted using a double-elimination format with a championship final.

- The Tournament Director and Head Referee reserve the right to combine, separate, modify, or eliminate divisions as necessary to ensure athlete safety, competitive balance, and efficient tournament operation.

Dress Code: Appropriate undergarments must be worn by all athletes. Female athletes shall wear under the judogi jacket either a plain white or off-white T-shirt with short sleeves, long enough to remain tucked into the trousers, or a plain white or off-white leotard with short sleeves. No markings may be visible when the judogi is properly secured.

Rash guards or T-shirts may be worn under the judogi by athletes of any gender during USA Judo sanctioned domestic events.

Athletes needing to change clothing or judogi must do so in a restroom, locker room, or other designated changing area.
