TOURNAMENT DETAILS:
Date: Saturday, May 30th, 2026 (also see Event Schedule tab)
Location: Billy Kenoi District Park Play Courts, 15-2910 Kauhale Street, Pahoa , HI 96778
USJF Sanctioned Event: # 26-05-08
- Open to current members of USJF, USJA, USA Judo, and Judo Canada
- Competitors and coaches will need to present a valid Judo Membership
Eligibility:
- Open to Male and Female competitors age 5 yrs. old and older.
Entry Fees:
- $25 for one division; each additional division is $15
- Please note the late fee is an additional $10 during the late registration period (dates listed above)
- Online registration ends at 11:59pm, Tuesday, May 26th.
- No walk-ins and no exceptions.
Format:
Divisions of two people will be best two out of three. Divisions of 3-5 people will be round-robin. Divisions of 6+ people will be modified double elimination.
All uncontested divisions will have the opportunity to move their division to get the maximum amount of matches or receive a refund if there is no division available for them.
Awards:
- Gold (1st), Silver (2nd) and Bronze (3rd) place medals will be awarded in each division.
- All medal recipients must be wearing their Judogi and belt when receiving their awards.
Concession:
Will be available during the tournament - cash & Venmo accepted.

WEIGH-IN and CHECK-IN
Remote Weigh-in: Dojos/Senseis may send in their athlete's official weights to Ryan Akimoto (akimoto.phjc23@gmail.com) NO LATER THAN TUESDAY BEFORE THE EVENT. Please be aware it is the coach's responsibility to ensure each student is in the correct bracket after weights are submitted.
Parents may not send in their child's official weight. Adults may not send in their own official weights.
Dojos/Senseis can send their club's official weights to akimoto.phjc23@gmail.com with the email subject line "Puna Tournament weights for [Your Club Name]"
Please note: if an athlete's weight is put into question, we will ask them to step on a scale to confirm their weight. If they are not within 5% of the declared weight, they will be ejected from the event with no refund given.
NOTE: Divisions and weights may be changed or combined at the discretion of the Tournament Committee. Any changes will be discussed with the coaches, competitors, and/or parents.
Check-in:
- Doors will be open for check-in starting at 7:00am
- Competitors: On the day of the tournament, check-in at the registration table to be entered into the system as present. If you do not check-in prior to your posted match time, you may be disqualiļ¬ed.
- Coaches: Coaches can check-in at the Registration Table between 7:00am-8:00am and show proof of current USJF, USJA, or USA Judo coach's certification.

REFUND POLICY
In the event you are unable to attend the event due to unforeseen circumstances such as but not limited to: injury, illness, travel issues, or you are uncontested and there are no suitable divisions for you/your athlete to compete in, you will receive a full refund.
All refund requests must be submitted via email to bfuani@gmail.com with subject line "Puna Tournament Refund Request".
