THE NEW ZEALAND NATIONAL JIU-JITSU CHAMPIONSHIP 2025
Presented by the New Zealand Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (NZBJJF)
Join athletes from across the country for a full day of world-class Jiu-Jitsu competition at the NZBJJF National Championship 2025 returning to Auckland for its second edition.
This premier national event showcases Gi and No-Gi divisions for kids, teens, juveniles, adults, and masters across all belt levels. Expect an atmosphere of strong competition, respect, and sportsmanship — a true celebration of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in New Zealand.
🧍♂️ Who Can Enter
The NZBJJF Nationals are open to all academies, both nationwide and international. Divisions available for:
- Kids, Teens, Juveniles, Adults, and Masters
- All belt levels in Gi and No-Gi

📘 Rules & Age Calculation
All matches follow the IBJJF Rulebook: https://ibjjf.com/rulesAge divisions are determined using the IBJJF year-of-birth method (age as of 31 December 2025).
⚖️ Weight Classes & Weigh-In
Weights are listed as net body weight, with the uniform allowance in brackets.Example: 79 kg (82.3 kg) means the athlete must weigh under 79.0 kg net and under 82.3 kg in full Gi at weigh-in.
Important:
- Athletes who exceed their registered division weight will be disqualified.
- No division changes on the day and no refunds after brackets are live.
- Weigh-ins are conducted in full competition uniform (Gi for Gi, rashguard/shorts for No-Gi).
🗓️ Brackets & Checking Day
The day after registrations close is Checking Day.
- Confirm your division and ensure you have opponents.
- Adjust or cancel via Smoothcomp (in line with refund policy).
- After Checking Day, entries become non-refundable.
💰 Refund Policy
- Before registration closes: 100% refund (via Smoothcomp)
- During Checking Day: Partial refund available
- After Checking Day / once brackets are published: No refunds

- Early Bird pricing within the early-bird window
- Bundle discount for competitors entering both Gi and No-Gi divisions

Check-in & Weigh-in: From 8:00 AM
First Matches: 9:00 AM
Schedule: Kids in the morning | Adults in the afternoon (Gi & No-Gi throughout the day)

Spectator fees:
- Kids (7+ years): $5
- Adults: $9
- Family (up to 3): $25
- Family (up to 4): $33
Free entry for Black Belts and Coaches with active NZBJJF or IBJJF membership.
