NQ Regional V - Townsville Open

Description

Open to all eligible Judo Australia members. This is an ideal opportunity for less experienced players to compete against people from other clubs, gaining valuable competition knowledge and competence. Beginners are encouraged to enter, especially kids! Please register as soon as possible.


Mat Area

One mat area will be used throughout the day. 

Weigh-in

Remote weigh-ins are available (and preferred) from all NQ Clubs - please email info@townsvillejudo.com.au before the event.

Weigh-in Friday night from 5pm to 7pm at Townsville Judo Club
(NEW LOCATION: 35 Edison St, Wulguru QLD 4814). 

- Weigh-in on the day allowed - from 8am to 8:30am for Mons, Junior Boys/Girls and Senior Boys/Girls. Weigh-in for all other divisions will be from 8:30am to 9:00am.

- Changes to weight divisions will be allowed at time of weigh-in. 

Competition Timings

Boys and Girls divisions will kick off at 10am.  

Men and Women's divisions will kick off after the kids medal presentations.  

Team Events and Friendlies may be organised by demand on the day, time permitting. 


Entry Costs

Entry cost - $35 for the first division + $15 for each extra division selected.

Late fees will apply after 11:00pm, Thursday 10 September - $45 for the first division and $20 for each extra division selected.

Gi Requirements

All players competing in the Regional Shiai Championship must as a minimum wear a white judogi. 

Canteen

Townsville Judo volunteers will be selling food and drinks at their canteen throughout the day to raise money for the club. Cash and EFTPOS available. 


Spectator Seating

Some bench seating and mat-side floor seating will be provided, however feel free to BYO compact chairs. 

Accommodation

Please ensure you book your accommodation in advance. We unfortunately cannot accommodate anyone on our mats for overnight sleeping. Some suggestions on nearby accommodation include motels on Bowen Road, Discovery Parks Townsville and BIG4 Townsville Gateway Holiday Park at Cluden. 

Mouth Guards

Mouth guards are not compulsory. As per the Judo Queensland Sporting Code, mouth guards are permitted provided they are properly fitted by a dentist. Unfitted mouth guards shall not be permitted. The player must provide documentation prior to the competition to the Events Coordinator at nqregional@judoqueensland.org.au. Additionally, the player must also notify the mat Referee that they have a mouth guard each time they enter the mat to compete.
