Description
KIDS SUBMISSION-ONLY GI TOURNAMENT - CASH PRIZES FOR BRACKET WINNERS!
Nitro Grappling Expo is hosting a submission only youth tournament at the Oak Lawn Pavilion October 18th.
How it works:
Each match is 3 minutes long. No points will be scored. If a match goes the distance, the winner will be determined by a decision agreed upon by the referee + the time keeper/judge. Judging criteria will be based off of positional dominance, submission attempts, and activity - simply put - the competitor that has made the most realistic attempts to end the match while maintaining positions to attack from.
Each bracket is an 8-competitor bracket. This is a double elimination/consolation style bracket. The winner of each bracket in their age/belt/weight will receive a $100 cash prize!
Medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for each division.
Differences between this event and others:
This is formatted very differently than traditional tournaments. The mats in use will be the same used in the super fights, therefore two matches will go on at once, both matches on opposite sides of the mat. There will be one chair per competitor for coaching, but plenty of seating around the mat and in the bleachers for extremely easy viewing. Finals of each bracket will be done last, with one match at a time under stage lights so the finalists get their time to shine. Think "Alley Valley from Karate Kid".
This tournament is geared towards giving kids a unique experience.
We understand there are limited ages/weights/belt color options, but we have a time obligation to conclude prior to the evening portion of the event.
Schedule:
Weigh ins begin at 1:00pm. First two matches begin promptly at 2:00pm. Estimated time of completion - 5:00pm.
Competitors, coaches, & spectators ($20) are welcome to stay after for the professional super-fights card to follow.
