Attention Senseis, Coaches and Athletes,
It is a great pleasure for me to extend an invitation to you and your competitors to participate in the LOS ANGELES OPEN KARATE 2025, Which is schedule for the 4th of OCTOBER, 2025 in Fountain Valley California. This is one tournament you do not want to miss.
This tournament aims to support the development of the USA Karate National Federation's program by engaging young, energetic referees and judges in California. We will utilize promising, licensed officials recognized by the USA National Karate Federation.
This tournament held under USANKF rules, only qualified WKF and PKF-licensed referees and judges will be selected. All licensed National and Regional Program officials are invited to participate.
Registration will close once we reach 200 registered athletes. Tournament Fees:
Events: $90.00
Additional Events: $10.00
Coach Pass: $20
Spectator Fee: Adults $10.00 (Cash)
Children under 4: FREE
There will be NO REFUNDS.
All Competitors must register On-line.
Required Equipment:
Karate foam fist-guard Blue/Red/ and white foam
foot gear and shin guards, mouth piece, groin cup
(male), chest protectors (male/female) (optional).
Head gear (MANDATORY) for children under 12
years old.
Referee Attire: Grey pants, white shirt, navy blue
jacket, and official tie.
Coaches Attire: Dojo Warm-ups with jacket zipped,
showing their Coach Credentials and Tennis Shoes.
KUMITE
*Only licensed referees can function as the
center referee or Kansa. No Video Review.
Three‐Judges system:
Referees and Judges
can indicate points, penalties and jogai, unless
the referee says otherwise.
Fights 1 minute for 7 years or younger for
First Timers to Beginners.
8‐point ceiling.
* Fights 1 ½ minutes for 8 years and UP for
all Beginners, Novice to Intermediate.
8‐point ceiling
Fights 2 minutes for 12‐13, 14‐15 years of
age for Advanced categories.
8‐points spread
Fights will 3 minutes for all Advanced 16‐
17 years and Senior Male and Female
categories. 8‐point spread.
USA-NKF Modified Kumite Rules
All techniques to the face, head and neck must have absolute control. The referee panel
will penalize the competitor if the hand or foot touches the face, head or neck according to
the guideline as described below:
13 years old and younger: hand or foot techniques Cannot touch the face, head or neck
14-15 years old: ONLY controlled foot technique SKIN-TOUCH to the
face, head or neck.
16 and older: hand and foot techniques SKIN-TOUCH to the face, head or
neck
No jewelry is permitted.
Beginner and Novice categories will
NOT have repecharge.
All Intermediate and Advanced categories
will have repecharge.
All divisions will have two third place
KATA
* Simultaneous execution for all categories
except the Black Belt Advanced.
* All Beg must perform Kihon Kata and can
repeat the same Kata.
* All Nov. must perform Katas and can repeat the
same Kata.
* All Intermediates cannot perform advanced
Kata (refer to the list), can repeat same Kata in
all the rounds.
* All advanced level must perform two Katas: a
different Kata in each round of the two. The Kata
cannot be repeated Back‐to‐Back. It must be
different than the Kata performed in the
previous round. They can perform a different
Kata in each round if desired.
If Int. / Adv. Combined, they can repeat the
same kata in all the rounds.
All Intermediate and Advanced categories will
have repecharge.
All categories will have two third place
Restrictions:
Categories with less than three (3) competitors will be
combined at tournament director's discretion. We
have the option of separating categories based on the
number of competitors, age and height.
