Description
The GBJ (Great Britain Jujitsu) Is the only UK Sports Jujitsu organisation accepted by The JJIF (Jujitsu International Federation) and WCJJO. The Great Britain Jujitsu Open Nationals is open to everyone and anyone of all levels.
The event will be held on Sunday with weigh-ins on Saturday evening (28th). Please note Coaches will need to have completed their referee level 1 course to be mat side and we will need to know who they are prior to the event starting.
Saturday 9th May
5pm-7pm - Weigh in - address: Delta Tennis Centre, Welton Road, Westlea, Swindon, SN5 7XF
Weigh in wearing shorts and a t-shirt. Shorts must be knee-length. Failure to weigh in on weight could mean disqualification. If you are not on weight, you may leave and come back to us before 7pm to retry. Adults will need ID or their accreditation provided by GBJ in order to weigh in.
4pm - 7pm - Accreditation
Accreditation will be provided to athletes and coaches. Coaches must make themselves known to organisers BEFORE the 28th. Email hello@gbjj.co.uk - Coaches MUST pass the 3 courses - 'JJIF/GBJ General Etiquette and Rules' 'JJIF – Fighting Jujitsu Rules Course' & 'JJIF Ne Waza (BJJ) Rules Course' to qualify as a coach and be allowed mat side in order to challenge the mat referee.
7-8pm - Coaches and Athletes Rules Meeting
Here is your opportunity to ask any questions and iron out any confusing rules that you may have questions for. THIS IS THE TIME TO ASK QUESTIONS, AS YOU CANNOT TALK TO THE REFEREE ON THE DAY, UNLESS DISPUTING A DECISION.

The event will have 3 elements, Ne Waza (BJJ), Fighting Jujitsu and Duo. Rule sets are governed by the JJIF. All rules can be found on our website https://gbjj.co.uk - simply head to 'Rules' and select the category you would like to review.
This is NOT a JJIF Ranking Event, however it is a qualifying event for GBJ team for the JJIF Euros held in Heraklion, Crete 13-21st March 2026, and the World Championships in Rome, Italy 21-25th October 2026. Winning or placing in this event will score against your GBJ Ranking.
*Should we have brackets with high entry numbers we reserve the right to split the bracket into Novice/Intermediate and/or Advanced experience levels. We may also need to merge brackets where entries are low, in which case we will check with the athletes before merging brackets. If we are unable to find you a match we will issue a full refund.
Spectators are welcome £5 entry on the door.
