BAY OF PLENTY OPEN – 5 - Star Event

A full day of Gi and No-Gi competition in Tauranga. Open to all ages, all levels, all belts β€” Kids, Teenagers, Juveniles, and Adults.

 Who Can Compete

  • All academies and teams welcome
  • Divisions for Kids, Teenagers, Juveniles, and Adults
  • Gi and No-Gi brackets available for all eligible ages and belts

NZBJJF Membership (Required)

All competitors must hold a current NZBJJF membership to enter any NZBJJF-sanctioned event.

Rules and Divisions (IBJJF)

This event follows IBJJF rules. Please review the rulebook before registering: https://ibjjf.com/rules

Age divisions are determined by the IBJJF year-of-birth system and are calculated automatically during registration. Always verify your assigned division in Smoothcomp.

Weigh-In and Weight Categories

  • Athletes weigh in wearing their competition attire (Gi for Gi / No-Gi kit for No-Gi).
  • Weight classes are shown in Smoothcomp as net weight with attire allowance in brackets. Example: 79 kg (82.3 kg) Gi means net  79 kg and gross 82.3 kg including Gi.
  • Example: 79 kg (82.3 kg) Gi means net 79 kg and gross 82.3 kg including Gi.

Important: If an athlete (children, juveniles, or adults) exceeds their registered weight division at weigh-in, they will be immediately disqualified. No division changes will be made on the day or after brackets go live. No refunds in these cases.

Checking Day

  • The day after entries close.
  • Athletes must confirm their entry details and that their division has other registered competitors.
  • You may make edits or cancel for a refund within the Checking Day window. After this, entries are non-refundable.

Refund Policy

  • 100% refund available until the last day of registration.
  • Partial refund may be available during Checking Day only.
  • After Checking Day, no refunds.

Discounts

  • Early-Bird Discount: Reduced entry fee during the early-bird window.
  • Two-Division Discount: Register for both Gi and No-Gi to receive a special discount.

Spectator tickets are $5.25 per child, $8.25 per adult, $24.75 for a family up to 3, and $33.00 for a family up to 4.
