ROUND ROBIN POINT SYSTEM 

Competitors will be awarded points for each fight based on the outcome of the fight

- Win by Submission  4 Points

- Win by Points           3 Points

- Win by Ref Dec         2 Points

- Draw  / Walkover      1 Point

- Loss                        0 Points

 The competitor with the most number of points at the conclusion of each bracket will be awarded 1st Place, the second highest point scorer will be awarded 2nd Place and the 3rd highest point scorer will be awarded 3rd place.

In the event of a Draw the winner will be decided by:

*Most number of submissions (if this is tied then the fastest submission)

*Most number of Points (if this is tied then the highest individual winning margin)

If by some chance the above is still a Draw... We will award 2 X 1st place medals :)

WEIGH IN

Weigh ins will open 30 mins before the 1st fight. Competitiors can weigh at any time before their 1st fight. Competitors are to weigh-in, in their No gi gear. Competitors ARE permitted to wear a rashie or t-shirt under their Gi.

Adults can weigh-in in the morning and come back and fight later in the day

*There will be a 0.6 lbs weight allowance* Anyone over 0.6 lbs the weight limit will be Disqualified and no refund given. We will not be moving you up into a higher division

DIVISIONS

ABJJC will endeavour to keep competitors in the division that they entered. We will automatically place fighters into the next weight category or age division if needed.

***We DO NOT MIX BELTS for the kids. We DO NOT mix the boys and girls together***

When the preliminary brackets are released, those competitors without a division, will be given the opportunity to move their registration to a higher Age ( up to 2 years) or weight (PLEASE CONSULT WITH YOUR COACH BEFOREHAND)

Timing

4-7 year olds = 2 mins

8-10 year olds = 2.5 mins

11-16 year olds = 3 mins

Adults and Masters ( All Belts) = 5 mins

*WHEN THE BRACKETS ARE RELEASED, PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT US DIRECTLY TO MAKE CHANGES TO YOUR DIVISIONS (UNLESS WE HAVE MADE A MISTAKE).  IF FOR WHATEVER REASON YOU ARE NOT HAPPY WITH THE BRACKET AND WHO IS IN THE BRACKET AND YOU CHOSE TO WITHDRAW, NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED IF WE FOLLOWED THE ABOVE PARAMETERS*

The Safety of all competitors is our #1 priority, and we would not put a child in a position where they could get hurt. We want the kids to enjoy the experience- win , lose or draw.

*We ask that you complete your registration as early as possible. This will give more opportunity to have larger brackets and in turn give the kids more fights. if we can not find you an appropriate division, a full credit / refund will be issued*

RULES FOR COMPETITORS

1) Mouth Guards are recommended

2) Must have finger and toenails cut ( will be checked at weigh in)

3) Must show Good Sportsmanship- Win, Lose or Draw ( Shake opponents hand and other coaches hand)

Frequently Asked Questions

What divisions and formats are offered at ABJJC Las Vegas Open?
The event offers Gi and No Gi. Kids divisions use round robin with a maximum of 4 fights, adults use double elimination, and cash prize divisions are elimination.
How do weigh-ins work?
Weigh-ins open 30 minutes before the first fight, and competitors can weigh in any time before their first fight. Competitors must weigh in wearing No Gi gear, and may wear a rashie or t-shirt under their Gi.
Is there a weight allowance at weigh-in?
Yes, there is a 0.6 lbs weight allowance. Anyone more than 0.6 lbs over the weight limit will be disqualified with no refund, and will not be moved up to a higher division.
What are the spectator fees?
Spectator fees are paid cash at the door. Adults are $15, kids are $10, and kids under 5 are free.
What are the Adult No Gi Super Bracket cash prizes?
White Belt winners receive $200 and Blue Belt winners receive $300 if there are at least 6 people per division. If fewer than 6 people register, the winner receives their entry fee refunded.
What is the Advanced Open Weight No Gi Super Bracket prize?
The Advanced Super Bracket winner receives $500 if there are at least 8 people in the bracket. If there are fewer than 8 people, 1st prize is $300; there is 1 male bracket and 1 female bracket.
How are kids divisions handled if changes are needed?
ABJJC states it does not mix belts for kids and does not mix boys and girls together. Competitors without a division when preliminary brackets are released may move to a higher age division up to 2 years or to a higher weight division.
What are the match times?
Match times are 2 minutes for ages 4–7, 2.5 minutes for ages 8–10, 3 minutes for ages 11–16, and 5 minutes for Adults and Masters in all belts.
What competitor rules are listed?
