Description
YOUTH DIVISIONS - SATURDAY MAY 2 2026
We welcome and invite all Jiu-Jitsu academies to participate in the 2026 Ontario Open International Jiu-Jitsu Championship - GI Edition
With over 2000 competitors competing in Gi matches during our two day tournament in May 2025 in Oshawa, it was very apparent that BJJ continues to grow each and every year. We had children as young as 4 competing and adults as old as 50 participating in the event. With competitors coming from all over Canada and US, the Ontario Open Jiu-Jitsu is an essential stop on everyone’s tournament schedule.

WEIGH-INS
Weigh-in with GI ON (belt included). No RASHGUARD (exception for Kids and Women)
1 lb allowance
We will be offering 2 options for Youth Weigh-Ins
OPTION 1: Timeslot by Age Group/Belt (Released on Friday May 1st 2026)
We’ve planned weigh-ins timeslots to prioritize Age Groups / Belts as per order of the schedule.
During the timeslot, we will place the athlete in the next available division if they do not make weight.
Remember: if the athlete is registered in the wrong belt division, they will be disqualified!
Athletes are welcome to come prior to their slot time if there is no lineup at weigh-ins. Keep in mind, the priority is competitors that are in their slot time or competitors that the first match will start soon. If you weigh-in early, you DO NOT need to stay at the bull pen/ready to compete area.We please ask you to be at the bullpen 20-30 min. prior to your fight time.
OPTION 2: Before first Match
If the competitor does not make his/her weight, they will be immediately disqualified.
Before his/her first fight/match, the athlete will check his/her weight. There is only one opportunity to check the weight. Reasonable time will be given, therefore being late will not be tolerated.

BRACKETS FORMAT
All 4-15 yrs old divisions will be either a ROUND ROBIN or DOUBLE ELIMINATION, which means every competitor will have at least 2 matches.
Round Robin: each competitor competes in turn against every other.
Double Elimination: competitors will be randomly placed into a single elimination bracket (winner portion). Once the competitor lost, competitor will go to the loser portion of the bracket where 3rd place (bronze) can be achieved. A competitor must lose twice before being out of the division.
In the Double Elimination, Smoothcomp ONLY SHOWS the First Match. Next match is TBD based on win/lost and so on for the next ones.
NOTE: Make sure you check your bracket/smoothcomp before leaving the competition to know if you have more matches or you are done. If unsure, please go to the weigh-ins station and someone will assist you.
