2026 NATIONAL WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIPS (Ages 6-60) INFORMATION

Wrestling Australia are proud to present the 2026 National Wrestling Championships taking place on the 4th and 5th of July 2026.

The 2026 National Wrestling Championships is an OPEN competition, Australia Citizenship is not required.
Categories
Wrestlers (or an adult on their behalf where the wrestler is a < 18 yrs old) must register online.
Age submissions are to be based on the Year of Birth (i.e., turning the denoted age in this calendar year), and not the age at the time of the competition.
A Wrestling Australia member ID must be added at the point of registration.
• The following age divisions will be conducted at the competition:
Saturday 4th July
• Male 6-7 years
• Male 8-9 years
• Male 10-11 years
• Male 12-13 years
• Male 14-15 years
•Male U17 (16-17 years, from 15 with parental and medical certificate)
•Male and (18, 19 and 20 years, from 17 with parental and medical certificate)
* Male Greco-Roman U20 (18, 19 and 20 years). Athletes must be over the age of 18 at the time of the competition.
Sunday 5th July
** Women’s Wrestling Showcase **
To support the growth and visibility of female participation, Wrestling Australia Limited (WAL) will provide a dedicated women-only competition space from 9:00am to 11:30am, open to athletes of all age groups.
To maximise match opportunities during this period, sanctioned exhibition matches will be available for female wrestlers.
Exhibition Match Requirements
Requests must be submitted via email to admin@wrestling.com.au no later than the close of standard event registrations.
Each submission must include the following details for both participants:
1. First name and last name
2. Age
3. Official competition weight class
4. Written consent from both athletes and their respective coaches is required prior to submission.
Only athletes who are registered in an official competition weight class will be eligible to participate in exhibition matches.
This initiative is designed to increase mat time and provide additional competitive opportunities within a structured and supportive environment for female athletes.
•Male U23 (19, 20, 21, 22 and 23 years, from 18 with a medical certificate)
* Male Greco-Roman U23 (19, 20, 21, 22 and 23 years, from 18 with a medical certificate). Athletes must be over the age of 18 at the time of the competition.
•Male Senior (20 years and older)
* Male Greco-Roman Senior (20 years and older). Athletes must be over the age of 18 at the time of the competition.
U20 Wrestlers are allowed to participate in the competitions for seniors, except for those who are 17 years old in 2025.
Male Veterans (35-60 years old)
Applications to compete in a higher age class must be submitted to admin@wrestling.com.au prior to the registration deadline.

GRECO-ROMAN AGE RESTRICTIONS/SUPLEX POLICY
Greco-Roman Wrestling is only permitted for those male wrestlers over the age of 18 at the time of the competition. Wrestlers under the age of 18 are not permitted to compete in the Greco-Roman divisions.
MULTIPLE DIVISION DISCOUNT
During the normal registration period a discount of $20 will automatically be provided at checkout to people that compete in 2 divisions.
A discount of $30 will automatically be provided at checkout for people that compete in 3 divisions.
SIBLING DISCOUNT
To ease the financial burden for parents with multiple children competing under the age of 16, WAL would like to offer all siblings within a household admission to the event at the total cost of 1 entry.
To be eligible for the sibling discount please complete the Smoothcomp entry process up to the payment stage for all siblings. Upon completion, email the proof of preliminary entry for all children to admin@wrestling.com.au. WAL will generate a single use discount code to be used at the Smoothcomp checkout for the eligible entries. Please note that single use codes will not be reissued.
SUPLEX POLICY
Athletes under the age of 18 are not permitted to perform a suplex.
PROOF OF AGE and WEIGH IN
All participants must provide proof of age when they weigh in for the event.
All participants are asked to have a copy of there Smoothcomp ID ready for weigh in.
WEIGHT CATEGORIES
Wrestlers must weigh in exactly on or under their nominated category weight. No weight tolerance is allowed.
Please ensure that you enter the correct weight categories when you register for the competition. No shifting of category or late entry will be considered on the day of the competition. If a wrestler does not make weight he/she will forfeit their matches and will only be allowed exhibition matches if and when available.
• No weight changes are permitted after the registration deadline.
WRESTLING AUSTRALIA MEMBERSHIPS
All competitors must be a current member of Wrestling Australia and a State Association at the time of the event. All competitors must have either a Senior or Junior National Level membership class.

UPGRADING MEMBERSHIP
Current members can upgrade their membership class to a Senior or Junior National Level Membership class by logging into their Rev Sport account and select the upgrade option.

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITORS
International Competitors are asked to please contact admin@wrestling.com.au on information on how to become a member of Wrestling Australia to register for the National Championships.
Uniform Requirements
Wrestlers must wear a wrestling singlet for the competition. Wrestlers must have a red and blue singlet for the competition.
Female wrestlers may wear rashguards under their singlets for religious reasons. This is the only exception to the uniform requirements stated above.
Wrestling boots must be worn
All wrestlers must wear the wrestling singlet at weigh in to facilitate a skin check.
Coaching Pass
Coaches passes are need for anyone that wants to sit in the corner for athletes at the event.
Only those with a coaches pass will be able to coach at this event.
A coaches pass will be provided to you on the day of competition.
Application for coaches pass will close on the 20th of June 2026.

SPORTS AUSTRALIA EDUATIONS REQUIREMENTS- SENIOR ATHLETES
All Australian athletes that are competing in the U20, U23 and Senior Age Category must complete the following Sports Integrity Australia On-Line Courses:
- Anti-Doping Fundamentals Course
- Annual Update 2026

A copy of e-learning certificate is to be emailed to admin@wrestling.com.au prior to registrations closing.
TOP TEAMS CRITERIA
The following rules are applied when calculating the Top Team rankings:
- Team points are awarded only in divisions with a minimum of 3. No team points are awarded in divisions with only one or two participants.
- Best Seniors Team (Freestyle and Greco-Roman) is calculated based on results from the Seniors, U23 and U20 age groups.
- Best Juniors Team is calculated using results from the Cadets (6-13 years), U15 and U17 including both boys and girls.
- Best Women’s Freestyle Team is calculated based on results from the Seniors, U23 and U20 female age groups.
Note: The above rules are only for the calculation of the "Best Team" on Smoothcomp and have no impact on individual results. The Top Team results are published on Smoothcomp purely for fun and informational purposes and hold no official bearing.
COMPETITION RULES and Conditions of Entry:
- All wrestlers are only eligible to compete if they are a member of a Constituent Association, irrespective of whether their relevant Wrestling Club is a member of a Constituent Association of Wrestling Australia Ltd
- All competitors are required to be a financial member of their State Association AND Wrestling Australia Ltd.
- All competitors are responsible for their own medical and physical fitness to wrestle and understand that the nature of the sport of wrestling involves some physical risks that can result in serious injury or death. It is the competitor’s responsibility to ensure they are free of skin lesions or allergies and are fit to compete.
- All competitors are encouraged to have private health insurance in case of any injury.
- Competition will be conducted in accordance with UWW Rules; draw will use a modified pairing system.
- All competitors must make weight within these categories.
- No weight changes are permitted after the registration deadline.
- All competitors must wear a wrestling singlet for weigh in.
- Proof of Age, satisfactory to Wrestling Australia Ltd., is required for all competitors. (Copy of Original Birth Certificate or Passport is required with entry form).
- Special consideration will be given for entries wishing to compete in a higher age categories.
The organisers will have the sole discretionary decision.
- I agree to abide by the Wrestling Australia Constitution, Code of Behaviour and Anti-Doping Policy.
- I agree to abide by the Wrestling Australia National Integrity Framework during this competition.
- All coaches must abide by the WAL Code of Conduct.
- I have read and understood the “Competition Rules and Conditions of Entry” and confirm that in consideration of acceptance, by Wrestling Australia, of this my application to enter this event, I intend to be legally bound hereby for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators and any such persons, to waive and release the organizers, the committee of Wrestling Australia, their agents, members and any bodies or individuals having any association with this championship from any and all claims or rights to damages for injuries or losses suffered by me directly or indirectly in training for, traveling to or from, competing in or attending these Championship.
- Wrestling Australia needs to promote itself to the community at large, just like any other organization. I thereby authorise Wrestling Australia, and any person authorised by them, to reproduce, publish, broadcast or do any of the acts comprised in the copyright subsisting in: Photographic picture, Videotapes (with or without sound), Production stills and Voice recording.
