Format and Eligibility

This is a Gi-only Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament featuring divisions for competitors beginning at four years old. Divisions will be organized by age, belt and weight class.

The tournament will use a round-robin format, with every competitor guaranteed at least two matches, provided there are enough eligible athletes available within their division or an appropriate merged division.

Male and Female Super Absolute divisions will be available to competitors aged 16 and older at all belt levels. Competitors must also be registered in a regular division to enter the Super Absolute.

Registration Fees

Early-Bird Registration: $45 + tax until September 26 at 11:59 PM

Regular Registration: $60 + tax from September 27 to October 17 at 11:59 PM

Late Registration: $75 + tax from October 18 to November 13 at 11:59 PM

Super Absolute: $25 + tax

Competitors must be registered in a regular division.

Registration changes must be completed by November 13 at 11:59 PM.

Refund Policy

• 100% refund until November 7 at 11:59 PM
• 50% refund until November 12 at 11:59 PM
• No refunds beginning November 13

Boys Gi

• Mighty Mite I: 4–5 years old
• Mighty Mite II: 6–7 years old
• Mighty Mite III: 8–9 years old
• Junior I: 10–11 years old
• Junior II: 12–13 years old
• Junior III: 14–15 years old

Girls Gi

• Mighty Mite I: 4–5 years old
• Mighty Mite II: 6–7 years old
• Mighty Mite III: 8–9 years old
• Junior I: 10–11 years old
• Junior II: 12–13 years old
• Junior III: 14–15 years old

Juvenile Boys Gi

• Juvenile: 16–17 years old

Juvenile Girls Gi

• Juvenile: 16–17 years old

Male Gi

• Adult: 18 years and older
• Master 1: 30 years and older
• Master 2: 40 years and older

Female Gi

• Adult: 18 years and older
• Master 1: 30 years and older
• Master 2: 40 years and older

Male Super Absolute

• 16 years and older
• All belt levels

Female Super Absolute

• 16 years and older
• All belt levels

Division Mergers

After the registration-change deadline, competitors without an opponent in their division may be moved into an appropriate combined division. Any merger will consider the athlete’s age, belt level and weight, with competitor safety remaining the priority.

If an athlete remains alone after all appropriate merger options have been reviewed, no suitable match was available. That athlete will receive a full coupon credit toward a future Brampton BJJ event.

Important Competitor Information

Competitors and parents must review the public competitor list before the registration-change deadline and confirm that all registration information is correct. Contact the tournament organizers immediately if anything needs to be corrected.

All gis must be clean, properly fitted and in acceptable condition under OJA rules. Shoes or sandals must be worn whenever athletes are outside the competition area.

Competitors should arrive at least 45 minutes before their scheduled division, check in and be fully warmed up before the division is called.

Listen carefully for division announcements over the PA system and instructions from the ring coordinators in the bullpen area. Competitors are responsible for being present when called.

All athletes, coaches and spectators are expected to treat tournament staff, referees and fellow competitors respectfully. The referee’s decision during a match is final. Abusive, aggressive or disrespectful conduct toward officials, staff or other participants will not be tolerated.

Questions should be directed to the tournament staff at the administration table. Please remain patient, as staff may be assisting several competitors throughout the day.

Competitors and spectators are responsible for their personal belongings. Brampton Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy and the tournament organizers are not responsible for items that are lost, stolen or left unattended.

Additional Notes: 

It is important that you check your registration information on the competitor list before the registration check day to ensure that all the information is correct. If there are any issues, please contact us immediately so we can address them.

Make sure that your gi is clean and in proper condition according to OJA rules. Additionally, athletes must wear shoes/sandals at all times.

Please note that the referee makes the final decision, and any complaints or requests to change a decision will not be tolerated.

 To ensure that you are ready for your match, please arrive at the event at least 45 minutes prior to your bracket schedule and be warmed up by the time your bracket is called.

Listen carefully to the division calls on the PA system, and pay attention to the ring coordinator calls in the bull pen area. 

Please show respect to the staff, officials, other athletes, and coaches, and they will show you the same courtesy. Be considerate and appreciative of the referees and their performance of their duties. Any disputes regarding matches will be settled by the referee, and their decision will be final.

If you have any questions, please direct them to the tournament staff at the administration table. We will do our best to answer your questions as quickly as possible, but please be patient with us, as we are busy throughout the day. Lastly, please maintain your belongings, as we cannot be responsible for lost or stolen items.
