Brief Tournament Descriptions:
Sport Juijtsu:
Sport Jujitsu is fast-paced competition that tests a fighter’s complete skill set across three distinct phases: striking, throwing, and grappling. Competitors must demonstrate all phases during the match — striking (kicks, punches, open-hand strikes; no elbows or knees), throwing and takedowns, and grappling for control or submissions.
All competitors are required to wear protective equipment. Please refer to the official rules to determine the required gear for each age group and division.
Success in Sport Jujitsu comes from blending speed, technique, and strategy across all ranges of combat!
Team Self Defense:
In this fun and dynamic competition, each two-person team will pick 6 techniques each. Teams may perform techniques in any order — one partner can do all six in a row, or teammates may alternate back and forth.
Competitors are encouraged to get creative:
- Use weapons, dramatic acting, or scripted scenarios if desired.
- Focus on realistic, effective self-defense techniques.
- Showcase your skills, teamwork, and imagination!
Judging Criteria (scored 1–10 per category):
Criterion | Description |
Realism & Effectiveness | Practical, effective, well-timed moves |
Team Coordination | Fluid teamwork and smooth timing |
Variety of Techniques | Diverse self-defense responses |
Control & Safety | Realistic but safely executed techniques |
Confidence & Presence | Strong, assertive performance |
Creativity | Unique, innovative presentation |
This is a fun event, but effective technique and creativity both count toward your score!

- Partner 1 performs their set first, followed by Partner 2.
- The same kata must be used by both, but techniques can vary.
