2025 ITF Warrior Cup — Event Overview
Step onto the mat at the 2025 ITF Warrior Cup—a day built around skill, sportsmanship, and community. On Saturday, October 18, 2025, Warrior Code Taekwon-Do Academy (832 Malone Road, San Jose, CA 95125) hosts a well-organized ITF tournament for Little Warriors and Taekwon-Do students. Expect a friendly atmosphere, clear brackets, and staff who live our core values: kindness, integrity, courage, community, and development—one match at a time.
EVENTS BY AGE
Age-tailored divisions so every athlete gets the right challenge—and real reps.
Little Warriors (Ages 4–6)
- Speed Kicking — quick feet, clean technique, big smiles
- Tail Sparring — grab your opponent's tail before they can get yours
- Obstacle Course — agility, focus, and listening skills under light pressure
Taekwon-Do (Ages 6 & up)
Open to all ITF members from White Belt (10th Kup) through 6th Degree.
- Patterns (Tuls) — precision, balance, power, and rhythm
- Sparring — strategy, timing, and controlled contact under ITF rules
- Chon-Ji Challenge — special event testing your skills with Pattern Chon-Ji
- Speed Kicking — explosiveness, control, and scoring accuracy in a short time

9:15–9:55 AM — Black Belt check-in & Umpire meeting
10:00 AM – 1:00 PM - BLACK BELT Competition
- Ring 1: Speed Kicking (10:00 AM to 10:30 AM)
- Rings 2–3: Patterns (10:30 AM to 11:30 AM) & Sparring (11:45 AM to 1:15 PM)
1:30 - 2:00 PM - CHON-JI CHALLENGE
- Ring 3: Black Belts
- Ring 2: Color Belts
2:15–3:00 PM — LITTLE WARRIORS Competition
- Ring 1: Speed Kicking
- Ring 2: Tail Sparring
- Ring 3: Obstacle Course
2:30–5:30 PM — COLOR BELT Competition
- Ring 1: Speed Kicking
- Rings 2–3: Patterns & Sparring
5:30 PM — Competition closes
UMPIRES
Black Belts (age 12+), we need you. Help us deliver fair, fast, and inspiring matches.
- Who: ITF Black Belts, 12 years and up
- When: Umpire meeting 9:15–9:55 AM; rings go live at 10:00 AM
- Why: More qualified officials = smoother rings, better athlete experience
- Dojang Policy: Up to 3 coaches per dojang; please provide at least 1 umpire per coach

REGISTATION AND FEES
Competitors
- $65 — Taekwon-Do (ages 6 & up)
- $50 — Little Warriors (ages 4–6)
Coaches
- Coaching passes are FREE
- Limit up to 3 coaches per dojang
- Requirement: provide at least 1 umpire per coach pass
Registration Deadline
- No registrations accepted after Sunday, October 12, 2025 at 11:59 PM PDT (Los Angeles). No exceptions.
- All times Pacific. Entries must be paid in Smoothcomp to be confirmed
TOURNAMENT RULES & REGULATIONS
All divisions follow ITF rules and Warrior Code values—kindness, integrity, courage, community, development.
PATTERNS (Tuls)
- Format: Round Robin — True RR for 3–4 competitors; Nordic RR for 5+
- Per Round: 2 competitors face off Black Belts: perform 2 designated patterns each round Color Belts: perform 1 optional pattern each round
- Black Belts: perform 2 designated patterns each round
- Color Belts: perform 1 optional pattern each round
- Placings: Continue until 1st, 2nd, 3rd are determined (per ITF tie-break procedures as needed).

SPARRING (Matsogi)
- Format: Round Robin — True RR for 3–4 competitors; Nordic RR for 5+
- Bouts: 2 competitors per match Black Belts: 1 x 3:00 rounds Color Belts: 1 x 2:00 round
- Black Belts: 1 x 3:00 rounds
- Color Belts: 1 x 2:00 round
- Scoring: +1 point — any punch +2 points — any kick to the body +3 points — any kick to the head
- Placings: Continue until 1st, 2nd, 3rd are determined.

CHON-JI CHALLENGE (Special Division)
- Format: Single Elimination — one champion only (gold medal)
- Draw: Numbers assigned at ring check-in; live lottery draws determine match-ups
- Match: Head-to-head performance of Chon-Ji Tul
- Judging Criteria: Power/Effort, Accuracy of Technical Content, Rhythm, Breathing
- Categories: Color Belts and Black Belts (no separation by age, gender, height, or weight)
SPEED KICKING (All Competitors)
- Fee: Included at no extra cost (all competitors are automatically entered)
- Format: Single Elimination
- Attempts: Two x 15 seconds per athlete (one for each leg); highest score counts
- Choose ONE kick: Front Snap Kick (Apcha Busigi) Turning Kick (Dollyo Chagi) Reverse Hooking Kick (Bandae Goro Chagi)
- Scoring Validity: Only kicks belt height or above are counted
Speed Kicking Divisions (M/F combined):
- Color Belts: Ages 6–8, 9–11, 12–14, 15–17, 18–35, 36+
- Black Belts: Ages 10–11, 12–14, 15–17, 18–35, 36+ (Little Warriors Speed Kicking runs in the Little Warriors block; see LW section for ring flow.)
