Ralph Mesite & Tom Knowlton Welcome You to the 3rd Annual Danbury Judo Open tournament. This event was created to re-establish Judo tournaments back in the Great State of Connecticut. We thank all the clubs in CT and surrounding states for supporting this event as we continue to grow.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE: All members of USJI (USA Judo) , ATJA, USJF & USJA
WHAT RULES: Modified IJF rules will be used. No armbars in all Novice and Junior Divisions accept Cadet Elite & IJF Junior Elite, Black Belt & Brown Belt Div. Chokes allowed in all Juvenile, Cadet, IJF Jr., Senior Black Belt, Brown Belt, Adult Novice & Veterans Under 50. We ask that all junior and novice competitors have a properly fit white Judo gi and bring a white and blue belt that fits properly. Cadet, IJF Junior & Senior Elite must have a properly fitted White and Blue Judo Gi.
AWARDS: Medals for 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place & Best Team Award
Scoring System: Round Robin For Divisions 5 Person and Below 6 & Above True Double.

COACH MUST EMAIL WEIGH-INS BY FRIDAY, AUGUST 1, 2025, 5PM, (NO WEIGH-INS FOR ANYONE ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 3, 2025 & ALL COMPETITORS THAT WEIGHS IN MUST BE PRE-REGISTERED ONLINE, SHOW PROOF OF USA JUDO, ATJA, USJF OR USJA MEMBERSHIP. Judo Gi: Blue & White Gi are required for all CADET ELITE, IJF ELITE, SENIOR ELITE BLACK BELT & BROWN BELT competing. All other divisions must have a White Judo Gi with a White & Blue Belt that properly fits. Official IJF Back patches are not required.
MINOR ATHLETE ABUSE PREVENTION POLICY (MAAPP)
The Center for SafeSport has developed the Minor Athlete Prevention Policies (MAAPP) which USA Judo has adapted to our own sport. The MAAPP is a collection of proactive and training policies comprised of two parts; Education & Training Policy that requires training for certain Adult Participants and the Required Prevention Policies, focused on limiting one-on-one interactions between Adult Participants and Minor Athletes to prevent abuse.
