Description
The Australian Jujitsu Federation (AJF) is the National Sporting Organisation (NSO) for Jujitsu and related Martial Arts, recognised by the Australian Government through the Australian Sports Commission and is also recognised as the National Federation for Ju-jitsu by the Ju-Jitsu International Federation (JJIF).
The Australian Jujitsu Federation will be hosting the 2025 Australian Jujitsu Championships in Brisbane QLD. This event is open to everyone and all levels – we look forward in seeing you there!
The event will offer competition in the following disciplines: Jujitsu Fighting, Duo System & Jiu-Jitsu Ne-waza (BJJ) in Gi & No-Gi), in the following age divisions; U10, U12, U14, U16, U18, Adults and Adult Masters.
Age Divisions:
The AJF/JJIF recognises the following age divisions:
Adults (+18) 18 years and older
U18 (+16-18) 16,17 years old
U16 (+14-16) 14,15 years old
U14 - 13/12 years old
U12 - 11/10 years old
U10 - 8/9 years old
Master Category & Divisions as follows:
Master’s 1 Between 35 to 39 years old
Master’s 2 Between 40 to 44 years old
Master’s 3 Between 45 to 49 years old
Master’s 4 Older than 50 years
A competitor can participate in only one age division in the same tournament. Even if the categories are on different days but within the same event, the same athlete cannot compete in both age divisions.
For children younger than 14 years old, JJIF recommends that the JJNOs use the following age divisions in their events. Recommendations about children's events are given in the document regulation for youth and the respective rules of the disciplines. If an international ranking event wants to host children divisions, the recommendations of JJIF shall be used.
The birthdate is used, meaning that an athlete is allowed to compete in adults, from their
18th birthday on.
Competitors will reach the age in the present year (from 1st of January to 31st of December).
This rule is not valid for adults (younger than 35) who want to compete in the Masters' age divisions.

Event / Venue
2025 Australian Ju-Jitsu Championships in Brisbane, location at the Iona College, 85 North Road, Lindum, Qld 4178.
Competition
Saturday 2nd August 2025, Weigh In (Weight-Check) from 3:30pm to 5:30pm (15:30) to (17:30) at the Venue Address.
Also, there will be a Referee Course for the Referees, Assistant Referees and Volunteers. 4pm to 6pm (16:00-18:00).

Doors open at 7:30am, Start Time 09:00am (followed up by Ceremony introduction)

• Fighting system: Boys/Girls (U14, U12, U10) Fighting $30, late entry $40 (Extra divisions $15)
– Male/ Female (Adults/Masters) Fighting $50, late entry $60 (Extra divisions $20)
• Duo system: U10 Boys/Girls/Mix Couple -Male/Female/Mix (U12, U14, U16) each competitor $15 / $30 couple. (Extra division $15)
• Duo System: Men's/Female/Mix/Masters Couple / each competitor $25 / $ 50 couple.(Extra division $20)
• Jiu-Jitsu, BJJ (Ne-Waza) -Boys/Girls(U14,U12,U10) $30, Late entry $40 (Extra divisions $15)
– Male/Female/ Masters $50 , late entry$60 (Extra divisions $20)
Duo Competition Registration:
You’ll need to register both partners of duo separately, first your (Name & Surname also nominate your Partners Name & Surname) once you start your registration and click on the division you are entering (add). Click on the Note section and write down your partner in Duo. (example My partner is John Smith in Duo Couple U16) , and ensure both registrations are for the same event entry.
Weigh-In
If weight is not met, we understand but note the draws will have to be redone causing delays for affected divisions, so please ensure you enter the weight division you feel you will most likely fall into. The official weigh-in dress must be a minimum of a non-transparent t-shirt and a short covering the knees.
At the Weigh In, all competitors must bring along with them there uniform Gi to be checked by AJF team to make sure it’s the right jujitsu Gi and their protective equipment, hand and feet.
Refund Policy
No refunds are available, this applies also to competitors who have opponents withdraw on the day leaving them in single category.
Merged Categories
An individual category shall only be held with a minimum of three participants present. Suppose less than three participants are present. In that case, the OC can merge the category with the following higher age and/or weight category. If the merging is impossible, the two athletes can compete against each other, as described in the rules (SC)
Dress Code
The competitors shall wear a good quality white Ju-Jitsu Gi. The athletes shall wear red or blue belts depending on their position in the bracket.
• The first contestant = a red colour belt (and red protective gear)
• The second contestant = a blue colour belt (and blue protective gear)
The correct clothing might be controlled before entering the field of play. If a competitor does not wear the proper clothing in competition, he might be sanctioned according to the rules of the discipline.
Coaches
All official coaches should receive their accreditation cards in the morning of game day Sunday 3rd or Saturday 2nd at the Referee Course. Teams without an official coach will participate without coaching (no athlete or other officials will be allowed to enter the field of play unless they register as coaches on the day). All Coaches should attend the morning briefing with the referees on the 3/08/2025.
Protective Equipment and Competition & Personal Requirements for Jujitsu
If competitors do not abide by these rules, they will not be allowed to start the match. Once a competitor has been notified that their presentation does not conform with the specified requirements, there will be an opportunity to change within 2 minutes.
· The competitors must wear a Gi that follows the regulations specified in the SC.
· Female competitors are required, male competitors are allowed, to wear a white leotard or rash guard under their Gi jacket. It is allowed to wear a h?ab.
· Competitors are required to wear soft, short, and light hand protections and soft foot & shinbone protections matching their belt colour (red or blue). The protections must be made of soft foam and must be 1-2 cm in thickness. Protectors must be in the right size and in good order.

· It is allowed to use a jockstrap and a mouthpiece. Competitors in categories U18 and younger must use mouthpieces. Male competitors in those categories must also use a jockstrap.
· Female competitors may wear a chest protection.
· Competitors are not allowed to wear anything that may injure or endanger anybody.
· All protective gear must be worn under the Gi.
· The competitors must have short fingernails and toenails.
· Long hair must be tied together with a soft hairband.
· Any additional requirements set by the SC or specific to the event must also be followed.
