Hi, my son has been training at GRIT Factory for almost two months now, and I don’t often write reviews—unless the experience has been either incredibly disappointing or truly exceptional. In this case, I felt compelled to share because our experience has been nothing short of transformative.
Our journey began as my son transitioned from another extracurricular activity and expressed a desire to explore martial arts. Growing up in the ‘80s and ‘90s, I’ve always believed that martial arts should be rooted in discipline, culture, and the integrity of the professor or sensei leading the program. When my son chose Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) as the martial art he wanted to pursue—primarily for its practical self-defense applications—we began trying out different gyms.
While some BJJ gyms didn’t meet our expectations in terms of culture or coaching, we finally found what we were looking for at GRIT Factory. And it has exceeded every expectation.
Professor Edmaicon and the coaching staff have a clear, unified mission: to bring out the best in every student through a combination of positivity, accountability, training, and genuine care. In just two months, I’ve seen incredible changes in my son’s confidence, self-esteem, and sense of responsibility. Most importantly, he loves training BJJ.
Initially, my wife and I were concerned that dedicating 8–10 hours a week to training might negatively affect his schoolwork. On the contrary, since joining GRIT, he’s made nearly straight A’s—something he’s never accomplished before. I truly believe the discipline and confidence he’s gained at GRIT have contributed to this academic improvement.
To any parent considering martial arts or a new extracurricular path for their child: I highly recommend trying GRIT Factory. It’s had a profound impact on my son, and I’m beyond grateful to see how engaged and inspired he’s become.
