My daughter started at Gracie a little over a year ago and the tremendous improvement in her confidence and physical and emotional skills a testament to Seth's teaching ability. He is gentle but firm and the kids have so much respect for him. I cannot recommend Gracie enough if you are considering jiu jitsu for yourself, your kids, or the whole family!

Great coach, great environment, and best place in VT to get true Gracies jiujitsu lessons for adults and kids. Meeting Royce Gracie there, 4 years ago or so, was like dream come true and having my kid chance to get pointers by such a legend and be able to train with him was amazing! I Will keep telling people about this place as they always ask about my t shirts with logo and where the place is so they can try it. Jiujitsu is life changing and great self defense martial art, in my opinion the best as it has techniques and solutions for all situation you can find your self in. Private lessons are what is an added bonus, and thats due to great coach who wants to make you learn and teach proper stuff that can be individually tailored to teach you anything if you missed details, during class or just wanna expand on your unique skills. My 5y/o son has been at Gracie Jiu Jitsu learning under Seth coming up on 2 years this January. Really can’t say enough good about Gracie Vermont. Seth is incredible with kids of all abilities. Our family is grateful for the impact he, and Jiu Jitsu has on our boy. We intend to come here for years to come.

Our son has been attending Gracie Vermont since he was 3. I have sung Seth’s praises high and to everyone who asks - Seth is truly talented not only in the art of what he does but in transferring that wisdom, practice and sense of belonging to kids. My son looks forward to every class and looks up to Seth as a role model. I cannot recommend this place enough. It’s not just grappling, it’s morals, philosophy, confidence and a sense of belonging and growing. I’m so glad my son has Seth and jiu jitsu in his life! If you’ve been wondering if you should have your kid try it out, here’s your sign!

I am convinced Seth is the best coach you will find in this state. Not only are his high level pupils the most respectful and helpful people you will ever meet, Seth himself makes the gym. His good attitude never stops and neither does his love for all things Gracie. If you want the best beginner experience you can have, come here, and stay for the advanced jiu jitsu. Thank you Seth and everyone at Gracie Jiu Jitsu Vermont

Entering the Jiu Jitsu world as a female can be an intimidating thing, so finding a gym that is welcoming to all is imperative. Gracie Jiu Jitsu Vermont is that gym! Professor Seth has created an environment where everyone is welcome. With a positive attitude and a willingness to learn, you will go far here. Before I was able to fall in love with Jiu Jitsu itself, it was the people that kept me going back those first few months. Seth teaches in a way that is thorough and easy to understand. If you’re just starting out with jiu jitsu, or have been training for years, there is a place for you here! This gym also offers a phenomenal kids program. My children have been training here for a little under two years and absolutely love every opportunity to train and learn from Seth. Seth is a wonderful role model for the youth in our community. Our family is so grateful to be apart of this gym! Come train with us!

Started training with Professor Seth Shamp in November 2023. I have thoroughly enjoyed everyday I am able to train here. Very welcoming environment and a good place to check out if you’re new to jiu jitsu. First initial class is free so no reason not to try it. I have learned a lot so far and plan on continuing to train here for the foreseeable future.

We love Gracie Jiu Jitsu! In the short 7 months our son has attended we’ve watched him grow and improve in such positive and meaningful ways! Coach Seth works so well with all the kids and his ability to capture their attention and teach them focus, patience, respect, as well as Jiu Jitsu is really impressive! We’ve met some amazing people and made good friends too. Gracie Jiu Jitsu Vermont is one of kind and we hope our son continues his journey with this into adulthood.

I started at Gracie Vermont about six month ago, and have been incredibly pleased with my experience. I recently moved to Vermont, and have trained jiu jitsu at other gyms for years prior to starting with Prof. Seth, and I can honestly say that Gracie Vermont stands out. The training and technique that are taught at Gracie Vermont are top notch, that, paired with the respectful and welcoming nature of the gym make this a great place to train. I would highly recommend to anyone interested in starting jiu jitsu.

I cannot say enough good remarks about this program. Seth takes the time to understand the children and converts his teaching style to meet their needs. Since my children have been attending class I have seen growth and development. My oldest is striving for his next strip or belt and tries to tailor his behaviors to make that obtainable. Seth truly does understand the children, relates to them, and in return the children respect and idolize him as their coach. Recently my child was having issues and coach Seth was able to bring the discussion to his philosophy talk. All and all I can’t say enough good things as the class allows my sons to be focused and they look forward to attending

It came as no great surprise when Gracie Vermont was awarded as the best martial arts academy this summer. Seth and Becklee are a great team that make their students feel welcomed and empowered. They encourage a positive attitude, which I find essential for subjective well-being - as well as social interaction. They do not hand out participation trophies, but they tactfully emphasize there are no winners or losers. Instead they highlight progress and perseverance. Two key components of success in every avenue of life. I highly recommend this academy. Children and adults of all dispositions will benefit greatly from the physical and philosophical approach Seth and Becklee offer. Five stars for Gracie Vermont!

Im 41 and was completely new to bjj. I’ve been attending Seth’s classes for the past 6 months and feel like I couldn’t have a better teacher and overall environment to be learning these skills. The sense of gradual and consistent progress I’ve experienced here is very rewarding. Seth teaches every new skill in a way that is thorough and comprehensible. And he promotes a classroom culture of mutual respect and camaraderie that is gratifying to be a part of.

This academy is fantastic! Truly great and patient instructors. The lessons are well spoken and articulated. The structure from the youth to the adults is well organized. The facility is clean and well maintained. Easy access to get to. Also plenty of parking and it is free. Every walks of life come to learn. Completely judge free zone with such a positive upspin of self growth. This facility has helped boost my child's confidence in themselves. Certainly has assisted me with my growth of losing weight and self confidence in myself too. From philosophy, to body and mind growth. I highly recommend anyone to come and become part of the Gracie Jui Jitsu crew.

I have my 9 year old son in the kid's class, and he loves it. Seth is very skilled in working with large groups of children. I've taught groups in various activities in my career and continue to be impressed observing Seth. His classroom management, engagement, and motivational techniques are well-honed. He knows the importance of having fun and incorporating hard work into his classes. Besides Jiu-Jitsu he also promotes personal responsibility and respect for others, team collaboration and problem-solving, resiliency and commitment, and many other positive character traits that children need to develop. It's a great place to enroll kids.

I have had the opportunity to train with some really fantastic BJJ and GJJ professors and Seth is by for the best instructor I’ve ever met. He is extremely thoughtful in his curriculum, and explanation of both individual techniques and Jiu Jitsu concepts that can be applied throughout your martial art and self defense. You would be doing yourself a huge favor to try Gracie Jiu Jitsu and in particular to train with Seth. His children's Gracie Jiu Jitsu program is fantastic for the development of martial arts, self defense and self confidence. Both my children hold Seth in the highest respect, and he’s helped them become even better versions of themselves. My wife and I both train and are thrilled with the instruction and community that’s been built here. The team at Gracie Jiu Jitsu is welcoming, supportive and fun to be around. Strongly recommend to both the beginner and the advanced Brazilian or Gracie Jiu Jitsu practitioner.

I cannot say enough great things about Gracie Jui Jitsu. Both of our children (ages 10 and under) love attending class, but the most amazing transformation has been the confidence our son now has. Seth is a wonderful instructor, and he teaches the kids not just jui jitsu but also life skills. He engages with each kid, knows their names, and knows how to motivate and encourage them to learn even more. Now, our entire family does jui jitsu, and I look forward to class just as much as the kids. I also can’t overlook mentioning the pricing, which is a steal for having kids participate up to 3 times a week, and that’s extremely important, especially with today’s economy.

Seth is a top-notch teacher, has a rich history of training and competing, and keeps each class engaging, interesting. Their attention towards cleanliness is impeccable. All of the friendly and enthusiastic students all contribute to why this school rocks too. I am new at this school, and the ability of his students really impressed me. This may be the first martial arts I have ever done, but boy 'o' do I feel as if I got lucky! To start, the instrucer, Seth, is by far the best teacher in any profession I have experienced, second, this Jiu Jitsu makes me feel great, I feel as if I am not a clueless infant when he tells me "Yes, just like that". Seth was the first person to introduce me to jiu jitsu and martial arts 4 years ago, and he is largely the reason I stuck with it through the ups and downs. He has a wealth of knowledge about both self defense and sport jiu jitsu, but he also has a talent for making everyone feel welcome in his gym. Having trained extensively at a number of gyms across the states, I feel lucky that Seth set a high standard and taught me what not to put up with at other gyms!

Seth was my instructor in North Carolina. He is an excellent teacher and an amazing person. He's a top-quality jiu jitsu instructor for both adults and kids, and he goes above and beyond for his students both on and off the mats. Seth has been there for me and supported me through some of the hardest times in my life, and I only got to train with him for a couple years. His teaching philosophy is based on self-defense and respect, not on aggression or a win-at-all-costs macho mentality like a lot of bjj gyms. I can absolutely tell you that Seth's gyms are safe, inclusive, and welcoming spaces for women and lgbtq+ people. I highly recommend that if you're looking for a place to train, you train here.

I’ve been extremely lucky to have known Seth for a very long time. He has been one of my favourite training partners and I wouldn’t be the Jiu-Jitsu practitioner I am today without him. Every time I stepped on the mats with him, I came away with a much deeper and clearer understanding of the Art. Vermont is extremely lucky to have him! In my 20 years of training, I’ve rarely met anyone in BJJ who is such a complete instructor. Most instructors can only teach one aspect of the Art well but Seth is exceptionally knowledgable about Self Defense, Sport, MMA and can give you the best training in whichever area you choose to focus on. I have no doubt that his will be the most complete and technical BJJ instruction in Vermont. And, equally important, Seth is a truly good person who treats every student equally - from the world champion to the casual hobbyist. I honestly can’t recommend visiting him and joining his classes highly enough. It will change your life for the better.
