I had a good experience here when my son came for a trial class for Brazilian jui-jitsu. Everyone was very polite and welcoming from the front desk to the coaches and instructors. It was such a great feeling seeing my son's enthusiasm that I signed him up. Thank you Strategic Academy for the warm welcome. Looking forward to this journey.

Fantastic coaches and a great environment. They’re patient, skilled, and know how to motivate kids while keeping things fun. My son trains in both striking and BJJ, and he loves it. Highly recommend this gym for anyone looking for quality instruction.

Strategic Academy is an amazing environment to train in. Coach John is the nicest dude and an incredible teacher in the morning kickboxing classes — super knowledgeable and always pushes you the right way. Coach Ness’ night class really pushes you, gives you incredible cardio, and teaches great techniques every session. The atmosphere is always positive, the people are great, and I’ve already learned so much since joining. Highly recommend!

Trained BJJ and then some boxing with instructor Darrvi Calotes. The BJJ class was thoughtfully structured so that each drill logically progressed from the prior one, and the challenge level of each technique also increased gradually. I think you learn and retain better that way. Very good fundamentals class!

Strategic Academy is absolutely top-notch! It’s more than just a martial arts school—it’s a community where kids can thrive. The environment is fun, safe, and perfect for learning self-defense, discipline, and confidence. My 3 boys love going every week—they’re always excited to train, learn new techniques, and interact with other kids and the awesome coaches. The coaches and staff are friendly, professional, and genuinely cares about each student’s progress. It’s a family-friendly space that makes you feel welcome from day one. If you’re looking for a place where your child can grow physically, mentally, and socially, Strategic Academy is the place to be. Highly recommend!

By far the best gym you can train at, especially for young children. This isn't a place where everyone has an attitude or egos. Coaches Ness, Mike, Ish, Alex and all the rest are great with children and all around solid men. If you're looking for a gym, this is it.

I have been at strategic for almost 4 years now and I have to say it's been one of the best decisions I've made. Strategic is not just a gym, it's not even just a martial arts gym.. it's a family. The people are amazing, the coaches are true experts in their art and the programs are one of a kind. I've taken every class at strategic and loved them all. My main class is BJJ and I am grateful for the wealth of knowledge I get from professor Thiago. The environment he creates is special and dynamic. For a beginner, you can always rest assured that there will be moves you can easily learn and practice and can always count on your classmates to help you through. For the everyday hobbyist, you will always have something new to learn and a fun time testing out your moves with rolling. For a competitor or aspiring competitor, the professor will be there to push you and help grow your skills to dominate at competitions. As a competitor himself, he creates an environment you can truly thrive in and push yourself to be the best you can be. If you are looking for your forever gym, you will find it at Strategic.

I’ve been training at Strategic Academy for several months now, and it’s hands down the best MMA gym I’ve ever been a part of. The coaches are incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and passionate about helping each member improve, no matter their skill level. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced fighter, the personalized attention and expert instruction you receive is unmatched. The facility itself is clean, well-maintained, and equipped with everything you need for serious training. What sets this gym apart, though, is the community. The members are supportive and friendly, which creates a motivating and positive atmosphere every time you walk through the door. If you’re looking to improve your skills, get in shape, or even just find a welcoming space to train, I highly recommend Strategic Academy. It’s truly a top-tier MMA gym

I LOVE THIS PLACE! From day one, they made my first time training any martial art a fun and smooth transition. I started my first day with kickboxing and eventually transitioned into boxing. The classes are fun, challenging, and that feeling you get after your session is over is incomparable. Strategic does an amazing job catering to all levels, from beginners and novices, to people who just want fitness, and up to high level fighters. Strategic has it all. I have tried all their classes from boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, MMA, and jiu jitsu and all of them are great and the instructors take their time teaching you and breaking down every detail. As a physical therapist in the area, I can appreciate that the instructors cater to any injury or impairment you may have and modify any movement the movements so you can still participate and learn. I have referred many of my patients here and they all come back with positive feedback. End your search here. Give them a call and schedule your first day. I swear its one my favorite life decisions.

I came to this gym on Friday, 08/02. I have been to many gyms throughout Virginia and North Carolina and I have to say that I am most impressed with this academy. My family was over in the New Brunswick area and my son came up specifically to train at this gym. I have to say that hospitality that both he and I received is unparalleled. The BJJ trainees are extremely good at this gym and my son got in some tremendous work with them. I briefly met the boxing coach, Coach Joe. I have been to few boxing gyms in my time and I can tell you he is quite special. Afterwards, the owner and my son and myself had some extremely enjoyable conversation about the fight game, classic golden age fighters, and training in general. This gym will fit the needs of both seasoned trainees and beginners. It can well accommodate all the programs that it hosts. Both my son and I felt like we had made some new friends here and I personally appreciate it the hospitality and courtesy that we received. I just wish that Richmond Va was a little closer. Respect and thank you guys. Sincerely, Sid Edwards

My husband and I were looking to get ourselves involved in mixed martial arts and jiu jitsu, again, for some sanity. He mentioned how strategic gives a free trail, so we attended a class. Tiago was our instructor and for someone who has been out of the game for a while, he made me feel very comfortable. And he’s funny! You’ll catch me in class cracking up, he’s great! (Along with the other coaches they are all extremely friendly, humble and easy to work with; they’ll teach you 100x until you got it down packed). Not only the coaches, but the people who attend the classes help you as well. I’m familiar with jiu jitsu, however this was my first time with mma. If the coaches are helping others, your partner or someone around you will help you through it. Very humbling. We signed up immediately. It’s been a week and I had to share my experience. I’m confident that I will learn plenty from them along with becoming a stronger individual. God bless them and everyone who attends, and those who don’t. God blesses all :)

As a parent whose son has been attending Strategic for over seven years, I can confidently say it has been an incredible journey. The instructors here are not only experts in their craft but also exceptional mentors. They've instilled discipline, respect, and perseverance in my son, qualities that extend far beyond the mat. The curriculum is well-rounded, balancing rigorous training with a focus on safety and technique. The sense of community within the school is palpable, with fellow parents and students forming a supportive network. Coach Ness an coach ishmail take the time of running a smooth but disciplined class yet shining there vivacious personality onto the kids while giving knowledge. Prof. Mike and Alex in bjj have corrected certain details in my sons bjj game that already leads way to improvement. My 8yr old also made a few friends which is an extra bonus for parents. I went to this gym off and on for about 2 years and it was the best decision I ever made. You are treated with respect by all from the moment you walk through the doors and embraced by a lovely group of people all there to work hard and make each other better. Being a woman in a male dominated space can always be intimidating but the environment created at Strategic always made me feel safe and motivated. Tiago and Nestor are the best kickboxing instructors I have trained with across three gyms I have attended and they truly care about each person who walks onto the mat. If you have any doubts about whether or not to join, this is your sign to do it. It is worth every penny and every moment.

ONE WORD: AMAZING! This gym welcomed me with open arms. The instructors are top notch! All of them have a plethora of experience in martial arts and have done big things personally and now are helping others discover the greatness in martial arts. They welcome people of all skill sets and spend their time with each individual making sure they are catching on with everything. The classes are super friendly and everyone is there to get better and help each other get better. Great people of all backgrounds and shapes of life. Everyone pushes you to work harder than last time and you truly feel amazing after every session. Very rewarding experience with great people all around. Wouldn’t go anywhere else. I recommend to every and any one, no matter if you want to just get in shape or try to fight professionally.

Firstly, the trainers are professionals in their field. Secondly, only a positive and friendly atmosphere in this school. Thirdly: independent choice of class depending on personal goals. Without a doubt the best mma club in central jersey.

This place, the instructors, and the other students are just tremendous. Everyone is extremely respectful, and everyone wants to help their peers succeed in whatever their goals are. There is also a really excellent space for weight lifting of all types. There is a nice rack set up with plenty of barbells, dumbells ranging up to 45lbs, a whole rack of kettle bells, a prowler, a sled, and a 300lbs tire. Whether you are looking to get into shape, learn a new skill in a safe and welcoming environment, or meet really wonderful people, this is a great place to do it all.

My son has been coming to Strategic since almost 2 years now. His personality has completely changed since the time he joined. I can feel the difference in his behavior, confidence and strength. I would definitely recommend this place. Teachers are completely focused in teaching the skills to the kids. Definitely a game changer school of this art 👌🏻👌🏻

Been going to Strategic almost 5 years and there is no place around like it- great variety of class offerings with high level coaching! I also had my son join and he has been seeing some results, as well as gaining confidence. I consider Strategic my home away from home and always love spending time with my Strategic family!

Children's MMA classes are over crowded and lack structure. I've seen 25 kids on the mat with 1 active instructor. There's kids slapping each other with their belts and the instructor doesn't say anything. I canceled my membership in June and still being charged. It's almost impossible to speak to someone over the phone. Do not recommend!
