One of the best decisions I have ever made was starting jiu-jitsu. My two sons and I have been attending Still Waters for some time and the instruction is excellent across each of our age ranges. I would highly recommend Still Waters for the serious competitor as well as the hobbyist.

Absolutely one of the greatest gyms I’ve trained at!! Coaches are friendly and I highly recommend their children programs to any parent that is struggling to find a hobby for their child. The training area is clean and the whole atmosphere of the gym is friendly. 10/10

Coach Alex is the absolute best! He works so well with the little ones to help them understand and has the patience of a saint when they have a moment and talks them through to help them calm down and reinforces their inner strength. It is an absolutely amazing experience

Before joining, I have tried other martial arts in the area. I didn't know about Jiu Jitsu and I wanted to see what I would like the best. Still Waters is the best by far. Coaches are knowledgeable. They create a positive training environment suitable for anyone. Now my 12 years old daughter is enjoying it as well :)

We have been training Jiu Jitsu for maybe 4-5 years in another academy BUT none of the other schools can compete with the program that StillWaters has for the Kids and adults, my 6 year old has improved in 2 months so much not only in the sport aspect but also the mental and spiritual aspect as well because of the structure and the way that Professor Alex and all the coaches emphasize on building respect, self confidence, discipline… Also the Yoga program by Serena is amazing, it helps me to release all the pain in my lower back.

Couldn't recommend this place more. Coach Alex is a great motivator and a very patient teacher. Coach Sienna and Tank are great in the fundamentals class. Sensai David has been a huge help as well. Come check it out!

I've been training BJJ and competing for a few years now and have been around to numerous gyms and different teams in the area, but I found my home at Still Waters with Professor Alex Lane and the rest of the family there. It's not just a team, not just a gym, it really does feel like family. Everyone there supports, pushes, challenges, and helps each other whether it is on the mats or just in life in general. The passion for the sport is evident in the instruction and in the atmosphere of this gym. Whether you are band new to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and want to give it a try for yourself or you are a seasoned practitioner looking to push your BJJ to the next level; Still Waters is the place for you. I highly recommend the sport for fitness and self defense in general, and my home away from home specifically to find everything you could ever want from BJJ and the people around you at the gym.

My daughter has been training at Still waters Bjj and it has been a great experience for her. She came from another bjj gym where she didn’t feel accepted. She has said many times that her team members at Still waters are SO nice! If you want a friendly gym that treats you like family this is your bjj gym. My daughter has gained the confidence she much needed Since being at still water and has learned so many techniques she was lacking. I have no doubt if she ever had to encounter a attack she will be able to protect herself due to the great bjj techniques and skills she has learned at still waters.

My two grandkids go here and we love it! I like the way they are focused not only on the physical aspect but also on the heart.Coach Alex and the other coaches are hands on and have a great rapport with the kids. It is a family atmosphere and I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else.

My two sons, ages 12 and 7, have been attending Jiu Jitsu classes under the tutelage of Coach Alex for a little under a year. I have been SO pleased and SO impressed with the skills they have gained in the amount of time they've been there. There's a wonderful, clean, friendly, helpful, professional, atmosphere and a great emphasis on keeping morale high through positive interactions and a teamwork mentality is very much encouraged. I'm so glad we've found this place and look forward to continuing to witness the increase in physical ability as well as self-discipline and maturity through their class instruciton.

I signed up my two boys in August 2020. As my husband was in Hapkido growing up, we sought a place for them to learn Martial Arts because we felt they needed to build confidence, self-discipline and form friendships. It was a choice we do not regret. We signed up our youngest daughter in December 2021 for fear that our sons would use her for practice, as my brother practiced his Karate kicks on me when I was a kid. My kids love it, and they look forward to attending. Even when they are not happy to go, they come out thrilled and excited about the class and what they learned each time. My daugher now wants to quit Tap class because she only wants to do Jiu Jitsu. As an educator, I know the passion we have to have to teach, so students want to return. I know the many hats we have to wear to be successful at it, whether it is in the classroom or outside of it. I can say that Professor Alex and all the coaches do an amazing job at keeping these students wanting to return. I am hoping that I can look back at this review with my kids still active members in a few years, loving it.

This is an amazing program! We enrolled our five year old grandson six months ago and he has excelled and thoroughly enjoys this program. This program emphasizes character building, citizenship, and politeness. It is amazing to watch Alex mold these young people and train them.

This place is the best! The confidence it’s brought to my kids is amazing! It’s brought my entire family to staying active and healthy, and sharing that one thing in common is amazing! About a year and a half ago I was looking to put my daughter in self defense classes. Little did I know that choosing Stillwaters BJJ would be one of the best decisions for my daughter. Her self confidence has tremendously improved over the last year and a half. The Professor and coaches are amazing and really dedicate there time to helping all who join grow. I would highly recommend SWBJJ for everyone.

My son, 5, loves going to Still Waters for jiu jitsu. In just a few months, he has progressed both in his physical abilities and his commitment to respect and accountability. Professor Alex does a great job with the kids, teaching and guiding every step of the way. The gym is spacious, nice watching area for parents and option for streaming is wonderful for out of town grandparents. I highly recommend Still Waters for kids, teens and adults. It's a great workout with a focus on important life skills and values.

My wife and I have been so impressed with Still Waters and all the coaches there. My daughter's confidence has improved greatly and it's so cool to see her relentless drive to become even better at jiu-jitsu. I started BJJ when I was 10 years old. I played baseball, football, and my favorite was basketball. I was doing ok in school but was not motivated. I tried a class at another school that I wont mention and loved the art. My dad did not really like the school or teacher. He began looking for a school we could attend. Once we found this place, WOW my grades changed and I went from being an average student to making 100% on my STARR test in fifth grade. My counselors and my parents were so overwhelmed and the only thing that was different is I started BJJ. I fell in love from the beginning. I am almost 14 now and know that Jiu Jitsu has taught me to not be afraid and to have confidence in myself not only on the mat but always. My dad always reminds me of a day I came home and was working on my homework and started to feel overwhelmed like I could not understand what was going on. I really got frustrated, mad, upset and could not complete this assignment-I was having a meltdown. My dad encouraged me to set it down and go to class and come home and work on it after. Well this day proved to me that Jiu Jitsu was more than just martial arts or exercise because after my class my dad noticed I was skipping, laughing, and having fun on the way home and I picked up my homework and finished it very quickly as if nothing was hard. From this day on I knew that Jiu Jitsu was an art i wanted learn better. Not to mention we have such awesome team mates who are always helping you succeed and our professor is the best. He is full of knowledge and always pushes us past our limits so we can grow and learn the never ending art of Jiu Jitsu. We are also affiliated with Revolution Team which gives our team a spread throughout the region. I hope you will read this review and come take the trial class and see for yourself how much Jiu Jitsu and the Still Waters family can change your life.

Still Waters Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Self Defense Professor: Alex Lane As parents, we are so excited to be a part of the family at Still Waters BJJ. My son, Brett, has never shown such enthusiasm as he has since starting at BJJ. He has shown improvement at school and is participating more in class. His self-esteem escalated, he is actually stepping away from electronics and has more energy to go outside, which has improved his physical fitness and coordination. He is helpful at home and has a better all-around attitude. The confidence he has been displaying is phenomenal and I truly believe it is because of Professor Alex Lane. Professor Alex has exhibited such patience, eagerness, and shows passion when working with all the children, no matter their levels. Also with first time adults, like me. When I tell people that I train Brazilian jiu jitsu and they ask where, I am always so proud to say that I do train at stillwaters BECAUSE: A) everyone there IS family. I never would have met any of these people or made the connections I have because of this sport. B) I have always felt welcomed and have been able to go outside of my comfort zone because of how encouraging everyone is C) my teammates genuinely want to help better others and not just themselves D) so grateful to have Alex Lane as the coach/professor. Very encouraging and knows how to break something down for you if aren't getting it. He knows how to push you without putting you down. And is a well respected black belt in the jiu jitsu community. HIGHLY recommended, you get what you pay for and quality is what you get here undoubtedly

I originally looked into jiu jitsu for my 7 year old son. I wanted him to get into something with some fitness, and I heard that jiu jitsu is also great for improving respect, self control, focus, and coordination. He immediately loved it, and surprisingly, my 11 year old daughter wanted to try it too. She also loved it after only one class. They were so excited to continue, and we have been going ever since! Professor Alex is phenomenal with the kids and is very patient with them. They aren't afraid to try new things, and he helps encourage them to do their best as they are learning. I would highly recommend Still Waters!

Stillwater’s BJJ is the best Jiu Jitsu school around. Both my son and I train here and love it. My son is 6 years old, and I’ve never come across a professor that is so patient and calm with the younger kids. A lot of other schools just ignore the wild kids not paying attention or disrupting the class. Somehow Professor Alex is able to keep all the kids focused and very respectful through the entire class all while staying calm and not raising his voice, which is amazing. I train in the adult’s class and love how technical professor Alex is. He has a way of breaking down every technique to where no one is left behind. Also everyone is extremely friendly and welcoming there. I can’t recommend this place enough.

Still water Bjj has done amazing job with my son. It all started off with just a trial week and he fell in love with on the first day. I have seen him transform from a shy child who struggled speaking to and outspoken confident child. I am so impressed on how my son has learn so much bjj skills. But I’m so proud on my son confidence growth and his joy for Jiu Jitsu. Professor Alex is a great instructor that takes the time to break down the techniques and ensures that kid understands. He has so much patience with the kids. He also make his class so fun for the kids and they enjoy it.

My daughter has a hard time making friends and was often bullied at school because of her dyslexia, often called stupid by classmates. Since starting at Still Water she has had a huge increase in self confidence and self control. That has spilled into her everyday life. Her work at school and her reading coaching has grown by leaps and bounds because she has learned to not give up and "persevere through hardship" She has friends in class that she looks forward to seeing and has also had improved behavior at home. She has learned to take control of herself and it shows. Coach Sienna and Professor Alex are amazing role models and show these kids every day what hard work and drive can do for you. If you are on the fence give this gym a try, 100% worth it.

Great place, great environment amazing people. I can't say enough good things about the people I train with, everyone is so supportive I love that I can bring my daughter to watch us train and not get any looks if she asks me for something and I have to tend to her. Everyone is welcoming and the level of jiu jitsu is outstanding.

We used to attend a different gym that ended up closing its doors. Still waters BJJ stepped up to fill a need for the displaced students and has been such a blessing. My son has adhd and benefits greatly from the athletic outlet but also the self discipline and focus he learns and needs. Coach Alex is amazing with the kids!

I've been training jiu jitsu for about a year now, and it's been amazing. When I started I just wanting to lose weight and get into shape. Now, I'm down about 50 pounds and actually LOOK FORWARD to Mondays, because I get to train. I had no idea it would be as fun or rewarding as it is. The atmosphere at Still Waters is very friendly and welcoming. They know it's not east to step out of your comfort zone and try something new. If you are thinking about trying jiujitsu for the first time, or you just want to take your game to the next level, I would highly recommend Still Waters Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
