Was visiting my best friend in South Carolina and stopped in here for a couple classes. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming and coach Spencer taught a great class and had some solid advice for my game. Definitely will stop in here again when I come to visit!
The Professors, Coaches and students at Swampfox were all very welcoming, professional and kind! It was my first time traveling and dropping into a gym by myself so I was pretty nervous with learning new gym procedures and meeting/rolling with new people, but they made the visit so easy and seamless, not to mention fun. I will take all the lessons, advice, and tips with me!
Spenser rules. There’s really no other place to train in Florence like Swampfox. When I’m in town I stop by here and not only is everyone really awesome and welcoming, theyre really good training partners as well.
My kids love it here! There are classes for every age and kids can have up to 4 classes a week with the membership. There's also an afterschool program and it's great. I've seen great improvement in my kids' social skills and even helped with emotional maturity. 100% recommend!
One of my favorite programs! All of the teachers are super nice! 10/10 would recommend!!!
Swamp fox staff are very nice, patient, and professional. My son enjoyed class. I also like the fact that you are not locked into a contract.
A great place with people with good sportsmanship
Just finished my 2nd class, if you’re scared or nervous don’t be. Everybody is extremely friendly and they understand you are new. Get in shape and learn something that could save your life one day!
The ladies program is wonderful. Everyone is helpful and very welcoming
Based on my personal experience, I can confidently say that the members of this gym are amiable and welcoming. They are always willing to lend a helping hand by showing you various moves, giving tips, and even practicing with you. The training environment Is highly focused, and everyone maintains a positive attitude throughout the session. I highly recommend signing up for jiu-jitsu classes at this gym.
Great place to train for the whole family. So welcoming and professional!
Swamp Fox was professional from the outset, from fielding questions about their programs, to welcoming a trial class. The instructor was technical and the gym members were more than willing to assist a newcomer. Motivated people with a laid back vibe.
6 high level Black Belts. Huge kids programs with classes for ages 3-14. The premier women’s only program in the South East United States. Multiple PAN AM, World and Masters World Champions!!
Great instructors & friendly students! Swamp Fox is great all around. They have a great kid’s program and a mat full of hungry competitors! Swamp Fox is awesome!
Swamp fox is a great place to train, I've been training since 2007- Spencer and crew have been fun and welcoming, highly recommended if you are visiting or need a great BJJ gym.
This is a great gym that will treat you well. They are very inviting and respectful. Great environment to bring your family and top notch instruction.
This is A Great Gym To Learn Jiu Jitsu The Environment is The Best and All Members Try To Help Everyone Get Better. The Instructors Are The Best
Great gym, friendly, family friendly and laid-back!
Clean mats, friendly staff, world class instruction. Lucky to have a place like this in Florence.
Really great place that's very welcoming to out-of-towners. I stop in Florence a few times a year since it's the halfway point of my drive. This was a great way to keep up with my training and get a little distance from my wife and kids for a moment! I'll be returning.
Talented, generous instructors, a great facility, and a friendly atmosphere. I didn't expect to ever be involved in something like jiu-jitsu, but I've found it to be challenging both physically and mentally. With individualized programs for women, kids, and general co-ed adult class, you are sure to find a group to fit your needs. If I had to distill my experience into one phrase, it would be "competitive collegiality." You will be really worn out for the first few weeks of training. Yes, you're going hard trying to choke, joint lock, or gain position on other people, but afterwards, you will bump fists and genuinely thank your partner who was trying to do the same to you. The camaraderie and team spirit here are infectious, and a big component in what keeps you going. Classes at Swampfox are also good for your ego, in that I think many of us have an overinflated sense of what we are capable of in a defensive situation. Here, you will have an opportunity to have your weaknesses shown to you on a nightly basis, in a friendly and structured way. If you're on the fence about joining, my advice to you would be this: walking through the door the first time is the toughest part. If you can do that, all that follows is within your ability. If you're looking to impress others, go another route. If you want to improve yourself, Swampfox BJJ is the place to be. Also the Krispy Kreme is literally right next door.
Great Instructors, Great Family environment and most of all the best Jiu-Jitsu!
Awesome experience! I was just in town for work and needed a place to train for the night, and I’m glad I found Swampfox jujitsu. These guys were very welcoming and the instructor put on a great class for no gi stand up. I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking to train bjj in the Florence area.
I was in Florence, SC visiting my family, SwampFox Jiujitsu welcomed me for the week and allowed me to train Monday-Thursday. An awesome group, great Instructors, great crew(Tough and Technical) and top notch training sessions. Thanks guys and looking forward to training with you all again.
Swampfox is like having a second family they made us feel welcome from the beginning , learning the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu brings a different way of life, learning self defense, Technics the best cardio ever, Jiu Jitsu have bring me and my family to a hold different level, family environment, Highly qualified instructors, and the cooles teammates.
My son loves it, we were struggling to find something that he wanted to do and none of the usual sports made the cut. We are fairly new but he's so excited and cant wait until training day. We're excited to begin this new journey!!
My family has been going to Swampfox Jiu Jitsu for just over a year now and we absolutely love it. Not only are you training with some of the best grapplers around, you're also welcomed as part of the family. We have never had a negative or unwelcoming experience while attending. Training here is intense but also very fun, and learning is made easy by the highly skilled upper belts. I highly recommend anyone who is interested in learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or looking to start a fitness regime to join Swampfox Jiu Jitsu.
Great place to learn Jiu-Jitsu! Classes for all ages from kids to adults and everything in between!
Great place to train and learn from excellent instructors!
Excellent instructors! Family friendly atmosphere!
You will not regret doing something so hard. If you let it, BJJ will change your life. And Swampfox Jiu Jitsu is a great place to find yourself. They are family oriented and the kids class is consistent and fun. 7 out of the original 8 swampfoxes are now teachers in the academy. They have stuck together for a reason. You will find out why when you attend.
Swampfox jiu jitsu is an awesome place to learn self defense! They have a great children's class, adult class as well as women self defense class. They have classes 5 days a week and several "unofficial" classes during the week. The instructors are very knowledgable and helpful. Well worth the money.
Started my journey into Jiu Jitsu 6 months ago at Swamp Fox Jiu Jitsu Academy . It's a great place to learn and train in a low stress family atmosphere. All the instructors are top of the line and give you personal attention when needed to learn correctly and safely. I have met more wonderful people here from children to adult in 6 months than I probably have in my lifetime. Love this place and the people.
I"ve trained in a few different BJJ gyms , but this is the best BJJ GYM IN THE WORLD. From the expert instructors to the amazing family environment , I wish I would have joined YEARS AGO !!!!
As a blue belt from another school I have been attendeing this school for a little over a month now. This is an excellent school with a variety of great instructors as well as a variety of classes. Every class that I have attended I have enjoyed. Classes are available for children, women, beginner, experienced, and both gi and no gi. I have found a new BJJ home. Thanks Swampfox!
Great instruction in a friendly, family environment. There are classes for everyone from kids, brand new and advanced jiu jitsu practitioners, women only, self-defense, gi, no gi. My 7 year old daughter and I both train here. SwampFox Jiu Jitsu academy not only has given us a healthier lifestyle and tools to defend ourselves, but is also like family.
Awesome place for jiu jitsu, Great atmosphere for both competitors and for families. A mix of all levels of practitioners and everyone is willing to put in a helping hand whether they are a black belt or a blue belt. Kids classes are huge, averaging 20+ kids and adult classes are filled up as well 10-20 most classes...never have to search for a partner or wonder if you'll be able to practice. The management team and instructors are very hands on and work with all levels of clientele. I started with the intention of going 1-2 times a week and now I average 4-5 times a week... you wont find this kind of commitment, or attention from high level practitioners anywhere else in the Florence area. the atmosphere is very family oriented and warming during classes, and the competitors usually stay later.
The Little Fox kids classes are great. The teachers are really good about remembering all the kids names. Which is especially impressive considering how different each class is from day to day and how often there are new or visiting students. The 3-5yr old class is very age appropriate and the kids love it. The 6-9 yr old class is the same. For exercise and learning skills that give them confidence in themselves I adore it. The one thing I think could be done more is teaching the kids more about manners and respect. There's some older kids (10yr+) who just waltz into the younger kids (6-9yr) class and do whatever they want. And it hasn't been a one time thing. At least the half dozen times I've been there. I am unsure who their parents are or why they aren't being talked to about it but the one time the teacher had them leave because they were being too distracting they gave him a lot of attitude (and insinuated nepotism was at play in the freedom they have to do whatever they want). I don't think they are bad kids, and one of them is in every other instance well mannered. But they decided to distract themselves by watching the kickboxers and one of them used language that wasn't family-friendly and certainly made the parents of the kids trying a class for the first time exchange glances that seems to convey what I was thinking, "do I want my kids coming here?" So praises to the teacher who did something about it. I hope it's a sign that going forward there will be a greater emphasis on character building.
