We started at Shonen knowing NOTHING about it, just searching in the area for an activity for our 4 year old son. Our first visit we felt so welcomed by every staff and parent, there was no question that we would enroll him. Very soon after, our 6 year old daughter wanted to join in on the fun. The instructors at Shonen are the best part - they are truly exceptional, they constantly demonstrate an incredible level of expertise and a genuine passion for teaching kids of all age groups. They manage to strike the perfect balance between discipline and fun, making each class not only educational but also a source of joy for the kids. I highly recommend Shonen to any parent looking for a top-notch physical activity for their children. The instruction at Shonen is superb, and the environment is very welcoming to new students. Everyone is treated with respect and encouragement, and there is zero negative energy on the mats. The facility is also immaculately clean. Details matter, and the attention given to small details here is second to none. VERY articulate instruction for both kids and adults alike. And for the kids classes, the ratio of instructors to kids is amazing. LOTS of individual attention. Learning more about the Mendes brothers and the AOJ approach reveals why Lee is so good at what he does. He is a beast on the mats, yet has a super friendly demeanor. And he’s a fantastic instructor. My own kids have progressed by leaps and bounds in only a few months, and I’m excited to see how their story unfolds. Very happy to be part of the Shonen fam!
