  I’ve visited the Yemaso gyms in Idaho and Reno, but I had never yet been to the HQ location in Sacramento. What a great morning! The only 5 AM clas I’ve ever been to in my life. And it made it super easy to get to work on time without missing breakfast or a shower! The mats were perfectly clean. The bathrooms were perfectly clean. But the technique was the cleanest of all! Crisp, clean, safe, effective technique. We worked standup, which I’m always grateful for. And I got some solid adjustments to both my arm drag and my Russian tie up. Perfect way to start the day. If you’re looking for a place to train and think you can’t make it work with your schedule——you’re wrong! Check them out!

The instruction was detailed and nuanced, providing me with more information than anything I'd ever received. Thanks for being patient with me. It really made me think about how I should be training in Texas. If I lived in Sacramento, this would be my gym. Thanks for letting me train with you!

  My home away from home, Prof. Torregrosa is the most detail oriented instructor I know. His system of teaching jiu jitsu has lead to multiple championships and world titles both for his students and himself. Always leading from the front, Marcos is one of the hardest working human beings I know. The entire staff is professional, the classes are always on time, and most importantly there is a culture of friendship and family.

  Very professional instruction. You can tell Marcos and his staff take extra care and attention to make sure each student is learning to the best of their ability. Academy is clean and very well ran. Youth and adults, Men and women, everyone is welcome here to learn with the highest level of instruction I have ever received personally.

  Came to Sacramento for work and decided to check out Yemaso BJJ. They have great coaches and members. The facilities are large and well-kept. Everyone is welcoming and helpful which makes it a great school and learning environment.

  I started training here about a year and half ago, and it has been one of the best decisions I have made in a long time. Marcos Torregrosa fosters an excellent and supportive culture in the gym and training here is a great way to learn BJJ and grow as a person. If you have been hesitant about starting BJJ, don't be, once you walk through the door you'll be hooked!

  I went on a busy afternoon but was received very amicably by the instructors. I travel for work and don't stay in one place for long, but if I lived in Sacramento, I would make this my home gym. I highly recommend checking them out, and let them know that you saw them on Google.

  Had a great experience with Marcos. We dropped in from out of town and everyone was very professional and welcoming. Felt very lucky to have been able to experience such a well run class. Marcos is a world class instructor and his enthusiasm for the sport shines through. Top quality instruction and a very clean gym. Highly recommended!

  I have studied at several martial arts studios over the years. I have attained my 1st degree black belts in both Tae Kwon Do and Hap Ki Do. Jiu-jitsu is an entirely different animal and I wanted to see what it was like... This academy is one of the finest institutions of martial arts you will ever find. Marcos, the head instructor/owner, has decades of martial arts experience and nearly 2 decades of Jiu-jitsu experience. As an instructor, and as a man, he is as good as it gets. My fellow students and the higher ups are incredibly helpful and supportive of anyone who comes in and tries it out. Please, if you are considering BJJ, Yemaso BJJ is well worth your time and an excellent way to not only get in shape, but to learn discipline and self defense needed in this day in age.

  This place hands down is the place to go if you want to grow and succeed in this sport. Professor Marcos is constantly competing, evolving, and challenging his students to strive for more! If you want attention to detail, challenging classes, and an instructor is loves his job wholeheartedly then look no further! The kids classes are amazing and are at great times for the parents. If the parents want to participate in the adults class in conveniently right after kids class! Check this place out! They have a groupon that will let you get your feet wet!

  After a year and a half of hard work I received my blue belt yesterday from Yemaso. Jiu Jitsu has been an amazing life changing journey for me. I have learned a lot about myself, and I have become better in all areas of my life from training. I am absolutely blessed to be a part of Team Yemaso. We have such amazing supportive people at every belt level who have helped me along the way. Marcos Torregrosa has created an incredible training atmosphere.   Let me start by saying that when I moved to Sacramento, I tried EVERY jiu-jitsu school in the area before making my decision to where to train. There were many gyms that were all about the money and just getting you signed up on a contract as soon as possible. Further, the lessons were basic white/blue belts move with no room for new evolved progression of techniques that current champions use nowadays. That is until I found Yemaso's jiu-jitsu school. This school is the place to be if you want to learn new age jiu-jitsu. Berimbolos, leg drags, deep-half guard, they teach you all that! If you are beginner, Marcos will put you on another technique structure whereby you will progress quicker in your knowledge of the basics. Marcos will also give you a 1 month free pass to prove to you that this is the BEST gym in the Sac area. I would suggest you to try the class.

  If you are looking for a place to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the Sacramento area, whether it be for competition, or self-defense - this is the place to be! The tuition rates are cheaper than most jiu-jitsu academies, and the black belt instructor, Marcos Torregrosa is there for both the morning and evening classes teaching and walking around individual to individual to see proper technique being executed. If you are an avid competitor, Marcos will put you in the competition classes (no extra charge), and put you through drilling routines, competition sparring, and cardiovascular conditioning. And the results speak for themselves - Team Title at the IBJJF San Francisco Open, Team Title at the United Grappling Federation, and multiple medal placers at the Pan Ams and World Championships. If you are looking for cutting edge new evolved Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, this is the place to be!

  Even before I moved to California, I knew Marcos was THE instructor who I would want to learn Jiu Jitsu from. His accomplishments I saw during my search got me really excited to learn under a true competitor/champion who is not afraid to put his skills to the test year after year. Now that I am already training in the academy, I am at peace knowing that my decision was the right one. Marcos Torregrosa’s passion in Jiu Jitsu is evident in his teaching and how he runs the school – as well as the champions that he is able to produce! His attention to details is superb and he makes sure that none of his students perform a sloppy technique. He ensures that techniques are done correctly with the utmost detail to set a solid foundation – very important! Marcos is very approachable and always ready to answer questions and lets you know what to do next. His students are also classy in helping you feel welcome in the academy. They make sure that the “new guy” doesn’t get lost in the mix, but is an active participant which makes the class very enjoyable and definitely educational amidst the demanding challenge of training with the best.

  They won’t honor prices displayed on their website. They advertise children, age 2-5 is $50 per month. When I called to inquire I was told they only take kids starting at age 6. The man I spoke to was also extremely rude and dismissive.
