So many things I love about this place. The owners are directly involved with teaching and they have very passionate instructors. Professor Dan is a phenomenal trainer and I really enjoy the mobility drills as they've helped my flexibility dramatically. I love that they promote SAFETY, and control. The space is super clean and overall they have a tight knit community that is welcoming and I'm proud to be a part of. As a mom of two, learning self defense and jiu jitsu has helped increase my confidence in protecting myself and my babies. Truly grateful for the whole team.

All the instructors offer incredible attention to the students. Progression offers an atmosphere where it's easy to stay motivated and have fun while learning the art of Jiu-jitsu.

My daughter became interested in jijitsu after we tried a women’s self defense class at Progression, which we also highly recommend. Dan and Dre are amazing instructors and we are really happy with the class availability times each week.

We enrolled our daughter a couple months ago in Progression Jiu Jitsu and the experience has been outstanding! The coaches go above and beyond as mentors for the kids. They have created an environment that is not only focused on technique and discipline but also on building confidence and respect. The coaches are incredibly patient and skilled at breaking down complex moves into manageable steps for kids. What really stands out is their ability to connect and make each session enjoyable. It’s been a great experience and our daughter looks forward to every class. We highly recommend Progression Jiu Jitsu for anyone looking for a positive experience for their kids!

My 5-year-old daughter has been attending this Jiu-Jitsu class, and I couldn’t be more pleased with our experience. It’s truly the best place a parent could want for their child. My daughter has gained so much more than just basic self-defense skills—she’s developed confidence and a strong sense of self-discipline. The coaches are exceptional, with an incredible ability to connect with kids and teach in a way that builds both their skills and their self-esteem. They are attentive, patient, and always make sure to address each child’s individual fears and strengths. It’s amazing to see how much my daughter has grown in both her ability and her love for Jiu-Jitsu. We are so happy to be part of this wonderful community!

Progression is an excellent learning environment. All are welcoming, patient and want the best for the students. Professor Dan is the man. The guy in the green GI is weird, ignore him.

Progression jiu jitsu is one of the best gyms i’ve personally had the pleasure of training at. I’ve been training very consistently for quite a few years now and recently had to change gyms. i was eager to find a gym that made me feel comfortable and welcome but also pushed me to be better. Professor Dan has a ton of experience teaching and competing and does an amazing job explaining his technique. Not only that but the structure of the classes ensure you are learning the specific technique and also how to utilize it in a live roll. Professor Dan and Andrea are beyond nice and care a ton about their business. They keep every area very clean. This gym is perfect for those who are just starting out but also those who have experience!

The atmosphere at Progression is inviting & enthusiastic. I immediately felt welcome by the owners Professor Dan & Andrea, as well as by the students. Everyone is there to learn & support one another in doing so, whether it be to advance in their technique or to experience jiu jitsu for the very first time. Professor Dan is an extremely skilled practitioner & competitor. He is very methodical in his teaching & breaks down moves & technique so that it’s easy to understand for those of all belt levels. Classes are well paced & Professor Dan is always happy to provide pointers & further explanation as needed. The gym is immaculately clean & well appointed with private changing rooms & ample space. If you’re eager to learn & practice Jiu Jitsu while experiencing genuine camaraderie, Progression is the place.

As someone whos new to the sport couldn't be happier with the gym. Inside is clean, well light and smell good. Professor Dan's ability to explain and break down techniques shows from his years of experience in bjj. Looking foward to working with professor Dan and other high ranking students to help progress my skills. As it says in the name, this is a great place for all skill levels to come better themselves.

I have started my BJJ journey here at Progression with Professor Dan and it has been a great experience. Professor Dan and Andrea run the school well and keep the facilities clean. Prof. Dan is an accomplished BJJ competitor but even more-so an excellent teacher. The curriculum is well structured day-to-day and week-over-week to build a BJJ foundation. It's easy to feel that a martial arts class might be intimidating but Progression is a very welcoming and educational environment. The school fosters a positive culture training and progressing together. It's insightful as well to note that people drop-in from around the Chicago area for Professor Dan's lessons and consistently remark the same - his instruction is a cut above.

When I walked in to the gym I was shocked by how clean it was. It’s a beautiful gym and you can tell it’s maintained very well. The class itself was great, Professor Dan is a high level Jiu jitsu practitioner and he’s very good at teaching. He’s extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I didn’t have trouble doing the sequences and moves because of how well he explained each technique. I am definitely coming back

As someone who trains bjj very consistent and often, Progression Jiu Jitsu is a breathe of fresh air. Professor Dan is a high level, highly accomplished black belt and has a unique, refreshing, and progressive way of running class. Fantastic for people who are new to the sport and looking to become competitive. The gyms interior is refurbished and its evident cleanliness is a priority. Well decorated and modern tones make it a comfortable environment. Im eager to train there in the future beside professor Dan. 🤝✊👍🙏
