Incredible room with, not only tough training partners but smiles all around once training is over. I really felt like this group of practitioners wanted to be there, to learn, and to push themselves. The instructional portion was very informative and palatable as well. 10/10 recommend if you live in the Austin area.
Posted 1 month agoI had a friend recommend this academy to me. This academy is a great academy if you like me are fairly new to the world of BJJ. The technique and instruction time is great, and the coaches walk around while drilling to make sure we really understand. Extended live rounds at the end of each class mean not only a good workout but lots of time putting into practice your overall game plan, both from a self defense and a sport Jiu Jitsu perspective. Lastly, the higher belts are all super friendly. Granted, as a beginner, you'll still get smashed (there's no avoiding that really), but their goal is not to punish. They let you work in the various positions you find yourself in, and rolling with the black belts led to some bonus instruction and feedback directly relevant to my "style". Overall I would recommend this academy to anyone in the Austin area.
Posted 1 month agoI traveled to Austin for work and wanted to drop in to Paragon for a class. I emailed them, and Laura was very pleasant and gave me all their class info. They have clean loaner gis too, which is a huge plus! The Monday evening class was pretty big with a good variety of both men and women of all belt colors. All the students were extremely nice and welcoming. All in all a very clean and safe training environment. Slight downside is that there was no AC (just a bunch of fans) in like 98 degree weather in the summer... I was not used to that Texas heat! I would love to drop by again if work takes me back to Austin again.
Posted 1 year agoGood mixture of belts. These guys roll with just fans and no A/C in the Texas Summer. Pretty tough crowd.
Posted 4 weeks agoI love this Academy. I moved to Austin and was really nervous about finding a Jiu-Jitsu school, but knew immediately after my first class that this was the place. Everyone was so welcoming and there are tons of other women to train with. I recommend it to anyone interested in starting Jiu-Jitsu. Coach Corey is awesome and very detail oriented.
