I train in this BJJ group in Eberbach and I'm over 60 years old. From the very first class, I felt very comfortable and well looked after. The instructors are attentive and professional in addressing my age-related limitations, allowing me to participate in training without any problems or pressure. The atmosphere in the group is very pleasant; everyone is helpful and friendly. The instructors are extremely competent, explain things clearly, and are very safety-conscious. The training is really good for me, both physically and mentally. Many thanks to the entire team – I can wholeheartedly recommend this BJJ group!
Posted 7 months agoI recently participated in an open training session with the BJJ group in Eberbach – and my experience was overall very positive. --- 👍 What was good 1. Welcoming culture & atmosphere I felt welcomed immediately upon arrival. There's no excessive competition among the people; rather, there's a friendly atmosphere. Beginners and advanced students are welcomed, and there's respect – both among each other and towards the trainers. 2. Trainers & Instruction The trainers are competent, patient, and give clear instructions. Techniques are explained carefully, and mistakes are pointed out, but not in a derogatory way. It's important that everyone understands what's being done before applying it in sparring. 3. Variety in training There's a good balance between technical drills, partner exercises, and free sparring. I especially liked the fact that you can try out no-gi variations in addition to the gi, depending on who's there and how the class is structured. 4. Equipment & Facilities The training mats are in good condition and clean. The room is bright enough, and there's enough space to perform movements without risk. Changing facilities are available, and the floor, etc., is well-maintained. 5. Flexibility & Openness Open training sessions are designed so that you don't have to be a regular member to participate—a good thing for casual trainees or visitors from the area. This makes getting started easier. --- 👎 Areas for Improvement 1. Times & Regularity Sometimes there are changes to the training schedule that are communicated at short notice. This can be confusing for newcomers if they want to arrive at a specific time and the training session is then postponed or canceled. 2. Equipment Level For advanced training/sparring levels, the equipment (e.g., mat surface, protective equipment) could be improved somewhat. Some large rolls or techniques are limited, depending on the number of participants and the size of the room. 3. Price / Membership Structure If you plan to participate regularly, it's worth checking the membership fees, whether discounts are available (e.g., for students), and what the terms and conditions are (e.g., cancellation periods, trial offers, etc.). The details here aren't entirely transparent, at least not for me. --- 🌟 Conclusion The BJJ Open Training Group Eberbach is a great way to experience Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu—especially if you want to start relaxed, are open to different levels, and enjoy training in a group setting. For someone seeking both technique and sparring, it offers a good balance and a pleasant environment. Those who want to train full-time at a competitive level may need to check whether the program is sufficient or whether they need additional training.
