The coaches and training here are awesome! Pat not only teaches Jiu Jitsu effectively, he teaches people how to teach! 🔥
I am in the military and have unfortunately been to 4 different gyms in 3 years of training. This is the best school you will find in New England, I’d go as far to say maybe even on the East Coast. Pat and his team have developed a teaching method for both adults and children that is absolutely incredible. They TRULY care for their students. They spend a TON of time on lesson planing and their teaching methods. The difference between this gym and others? Here you are family not just a number, here you will be challenged and not treated as just a new white belt, here you will be pushed as far as you are willing to go in a SAFE and CLEAN environment. Stop in and see for yourself but prepared to fill out the waiver to start your new journey.
Mission First is what you want from a local BJJ studio to train at. Everyone is welcoming at all skill levels and the curriculum is a good blend of training the concepts/fundamentals and rolling/sparring to see how and if you can employ them. The attention to detail given by all teachers is great at Mission first and is a MUST when learning this sport, BJJ is a game of inches, centimeters, and small adjustments--Everyone there helps you find those micro adjustments and take your skills to the next level. I commend the school on its cleanliness and the community that it has formed. It's a great place to meet new people, form friendships, and train with attainable and consistent goals in mind.
My 13 year old daughter and I both train at Mission First and it has been a wonderful experience for both of us. The coaches are fabulous and the environment is truly welcoming to anyone training there. I felt comfortable enough to branch out from attending only the women's class because of the supportive atmosphere and I'm so happy I did.
Outstanding environment for anyone who is not only seeking knowledge but also discipline. Very attentive to each student, providing insight and instruction to each individual. Amazing how they can pay attention to each student. If you don’t enjoy being here then you’re coming for the wrong reasons!
Excellent Jiu Jitsu academy. The instructors are great. I have experience in both the adult and kid's classes as my children and I train here. I would highly recommend to anyone!
Great place to learn BJJ. I’ve been attending this school for two year now and it has strengthened my mind and my body. Coaching at the gym is top notch, with answering any questions when asked. I would definitely recommend to anyone who want get a fresh start on life. Also, the gym has kids class too, so important.
I have been involved with Mission First both as an adult student as well as the parent of a child currently training. In both instances I have found Pat and the other instructors to be helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. They provide an extremely healthy environment to learn this valuable martial art.
Our son has been attending Mission First for quite some time and he has developed a tremendous amount of confidence and physical agility, in addition to spending time with his friends and the dedicated instructors. We can't say enough about how well the program is organized and the talents of those involved with instruction. Hopefully, our son will continue to be part of the Mission First program and community well into the future. Thanks for all that you do.
I have been very impressed with Mission First. Pat and the other coaches do an excellent job of teaching BJJ as well as building student confidence. My son has been attending since October 2022. The ratio of coaches to students is good as the class sizes are generally pretty large. There is a great balance between instruction and grappling (reinforcing what they are learning). Students seem to really enjoy the atmosphere - competitive yet fun. Also importantly, the mats are clean and well maintained. My son looks forward each week to attending class and increasing his skill level. I would absolutely recommend Mission First.
My 7 year old son is a student at Mission First and our experience has been outstanding! The teachers have a way of making the exercises and training fun for all the kids. They are patient and take the time to thoroughly explain each movement and why it is important. They also maintain safety measures to protect each child from injury. Due to the focus on respect and teamwork, my son has become more disciplined in all aspects. I am also grateful for how they let each child know that they each play an important role in the group. Mission First was recommended to me, and I am pleased to recommend them as well!
My son started at Mission First ten months ago and I cannot rave about this school enough. I’ve been in the field of experiential and outdoor ed for decades, and these instructors are some of the most extraordinary I’ve ever witnessed. Their skill, patience, boundaries, dedication, community spirit, and perseverance are remarkable. I’m in awe at how the students respect their trainers and training partners- you may imagine the handful of managing a room of hyperactive, excited kids-but these guys run a tight ship, and the students know what is expected of them and how to rise to be the best versions of themselves. The instructors somehow manage to get the kids to listen and they coach the kids through their feelings of disappointment when they stumble, and then turn those experiences it into lesson of humility and teamwork. The trust between the instructors and students allows the kids to push their own limits and build confidence to use their skills and bodies in a healthy way. I’ve seen my son engage in friend situations and school bus scuffles with a high head, broad shoulders, and mitigating voice. He knows he has the ability to de-escalate situations but also defend himself if need be. The owner, Pat, is a decorated Navy Seal veteran. It is an honor to watch the military-minded training approach to guide the students to best use their minds, push their bodies, and carry themselves in an honorable way. Ju Jitsu training becomes a vehicle for instilling all the best parts of training for life as a good, capable, strong, interesting, and resourceful human. But all this serious stuff aside, they make it SO fun! The place is full of laughter and smiles, the kids all WANT to be there, and they really do support each other. To mix honor, confidence, and virtue with pure fun and physical training is a hard combination to find. This veteran-owned and operated school is a treasure on island. They do more for our community than they may even realize! If you want you or your child to be surrounded by stellar, awesome, admirable people, sign up at Mission First!! Thank you to Pat, Sean, Chad, AJ, the junior instructors, and all the others for all you do for our kids and island.
There is a class for all levels of experience. This school is full of great people who want top notch BJJ training. Life changing for me, and I am sure for plenty if not ALL of the other members also.
My husband and daughter have been training at Mission First for several years now. The confidence my daughter has gained from training jiu jitsu has been amazing to watch. The coaches are all so amazing and really know how to make all of the kids feel like they are part of a team and they are all helping each other. It is a super positive environment and so much fun to watch. Becoming part of the Mission First family has been a great experience for our family!
Life changing experience to train at Mission First! The instructors are extremely generous with their time and knowledge. My six year old son has benefitted immensely from the kids program and smiles ear to ear whenever he is on the mat. Thank you Mission First!
We love Mission First! All of the coaches and junior coaches have been instrumental in ensuring a positive and safe environment for our children to train, build confidence, and instill positive life skills. As a teacher myself, I appreciate Coach Pat’s natural ability to connect with the students and qualify steps and techniques, rather than just providing a demonstration. The children are engaged at all times, which is no easy task! Our son, who is quiet and shy, looks forward to his weekly practice with a supportive network of coaches and new friends. We are thrilled to have finally found the right fit, and are looking forward to getting our youngest on the mat - definitely worth the wait!
My 8 y/o daughter has been going for over a year and she loves it. Pat is very good at making new people feel very welcome and has chosen exceptional people to help him train students young and old.
💯💯great gym awesome teachers and a clean environment ! Place is a 10 !
Mission First is a fantastic place to develop your BJJ skills. Pat and the other instructors make sure you learn in a safe and constructive environment with all students helping each other expand their knowledge of the sport. All students/instructors are very welcoming and have no ego which helps everyone grow. I’ve been going for a couple months now and it’s been a blast. No better place to learn.
Great place to start learning BJJ. My son has been going for over a year and has come a long way thanks to the attention of his instructors. Appreciate everything your team does for the kids!
Great place! I'm glad we found it - my kids absolutely love it! Great practices, friendly instructors that connect with kids with ease and good communication with the parents. Thumbs up!
Great gym, great instructors. Training at Mission First has been one of the best decisions I’ve made.
Pat and his team at Mission First BJJ are second to none. Taking the individual time with each person, not only creates an atmosphere where one can work hard and learn extensively but creates a family and team environment that is hard to find anywhere else. I came to Mission First not knowing what to expect and I can say without question that I leave each training session feeling not only thankful but lucky enough to have found a gym/home like this. Thank you Mission First.
Great place to study. DoN/Military friendly. Good place to spend time as a Geobach when sent to Newport.
Been training at Mission First for over a year now and it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. The school offers a safe, all inclusive, and supportive atmosphere, where Pat and the other coaches teach real Brazilian jiu-jitsu. That being said, it’s no walk in the park, classes include technical drilling and full-on rolling. If that’s for you, it’s an excellent gym with high morals and no bs. The coaches are always available to take questions after class, which isn’t typically offered at most schools.
I have been fortunate to train at gyms around the country, and while I have had good experiences none have compared to my years training at Mission First. The quality of teaching, professionalism and safety the students is the best i have experienced, and as important the positive atmosphere and camaraderie are second to none. The teachers’ attention to detail ensures every individual gains the skills and knowledge they need to continually improve their game while having fun. The school is often upgrading equipment so the students have the best possible tools to enhance their training experience. Open mats are always a blast, and there are a variety of different classes tailored to different levels. If you are looking for a fun and safe place to train BJJ with no egos or aggressive attitudes, I would highly recommend you check out Mission First. Whether you want to compete at a high level or just get an amazing workout in, this is the place to be if you’re anywhere near RI!
Walked in here a white belt in 2015 and this place has become my home away from home. Its a competitive, hard-nosed, positive, mat culture. Head Instructor Pat is as well-informed, thoughtful, and prepared coach as you will find in Jiu Jitsu, or any athletics endeavor for that matter. There's a great range of experience, skill-level, ages, and body types at virtually every class. Best of all, its a no-BS, supportive group of people that have become true friends.
I have nothing but good things to say about Mission First. My two sons have been training and growing here the last 4 years. More than just jiu jitsu, they have learned confidence, courage, social skills, and respect. They love their Mission First family. I recently started going myself. It's been a great experience. Everyone is friendly, helpful, and informative. They work hard and encourage you to do the same. It's a great program filled with great people.
Whether you're new to BJJ or a seasoned practitioner, Mission First Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy is an excellent place to be. Pat, the owner, and instructor, leads the school with the help of other skilled instructors and offers top-notch knowledge and teaching abilities that are unmatched in the area.
I started with the women’s only class and have moved to white belt classes. Love going here. People are awesome!! Don’t listen to the reviews about not being able to train here.
Instructor and owner Pat Watterson has been teaching BJJ to my family of 4 for the last 7 years. He and his team of instructors really know how to provide quality techniques that work. His patience and love for teaching the kids class is so valuable and the kids program offers so much more than exercise for our kids. As a woman, I've felt comfortable and accepted in this gym environment that is normally dominated by males. The woman's only class has had a great following and the open mat on Saturdays gives people the opportunity to ask a lot of questions and work on drills/ technique at a slower pace if needed.
I would (and have) recommend Mission First BJJ Academy to anyone interested in starting out BJJ or for experienced competitors! As a woman, with no experience in martial arts whatsoever, I was very nervous about starting something new, but the environment at Mission First was welcoming and educational. Within no time I was able to establish a repertoire with other members, and every single one of them took the time to answer any of the questions I had - even staying late after class to work with me. In addition to offering a great environment to build a foundation in BJJ, I also learned etiquette and confidence on that mat that I take with me into other gyms and competitions. With the addition of the women's class and the children's classes, this is a martial arts gym that suits all needs. It's a clean gym with a professional staff and great instructors. A true gem and addition to the Rhode Island community. I will definitely go back to Mission First BJJ any chance I can!
Mission First BJJ has been nothing but an exceptional experience for my son. He has been training there for almost one year now and I couldn’t imagine him being as successful and dedicated as he is anywhere else. Pat and his instructors have an incredible amount of knowledge and skill in the art of jiu jitsu and it shows through their attention to detail. They also have an engaging style of teaching that catches the attention of each and every one of these children. They really understand how to get the best out of our kids while teaching them respect and kindness at the same time. I would highly recommend Mission First BJJ to anyone and everyone looking to train.
I recently had the privilege of joining Mission First Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and I cannot express enough how truly awesome this gym is. As a first-time participant in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, I was initially a bit nervous, unsure of what to expect. However, from the moment I stepped foot into Mission First, I was warmly welcomed, and any apprehension I had quickly dissolved. The instructors are knowledgeable and passionate, creating a supportive community that fosters growth and camaraderie. Highly recommended for anyone looking to start their Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey.
Mission First is a top tier operation. Pat has cultivated an incredible community. The amount of hands on training new students get with seasoned black belts is uncommon at other gyms but invaluable. I can't recommend Mission First enough.
High quality instruction in an exceptionally positive atmosphere!!
As someone who had never trained BJJ before I was made to feel welcomed here by Pat and the team. For my first few sessions I was paired with high level individuals who really knew what they were doing, because of their expertise they could teach me at my pace so I never like I was in a situation I did not want to be in. This allowed me to learn the basics in a safe, clean and enjoyable environment. The owner is very involved with everyone who joins and has you watch a full session before joining so you know exactly what you are getting into. As someone who has taught dangerous sports in the past I can say that this introduction was fantastic and well thought out. I have rolled with all levels in this gym and I'm always learning new things. They have different evenings for different skill levels so you never feel like you are only rolling with amateurs/experts unless you want to. I cannot recommend this place enough, great environment and I have always felt included and safe.
I saw a couple reviews on here that said students won't be accepted if they have a low skill level. That is utterly false. My son, who isn't the most athletic by any means began training here about 2 years ago. He's been progressing slowly but more importantly the confidence in himself has grown tenfold. I'd have paid anything just for that alone. If you want a place that has instructors that care about your kid, a place where your kid can be themself and grow into their best version of themself look no further than Mission First.
My grandson has been doing BJJ as soon as he turned 5. It’s been the best decision made for him. He has learned so much through Jiu Jitsu. Pat the owner is incredible! All the instructors are absolutely amazing, caring, kind, respectful, and very well trained. Aside from that they are amazing with their teaching ability to hold so many little ones attention. The thoughtful and care that goes into every session is indescribable! The students are always smiling and happy to learn! There is no words to describe how happy we are with our decision to enroll. We recommend Mission First to anyone! Sean, AJ, Pat, Chad, and the girls you guys are amazing!
8 years ago i came to mission first and have been hooked ever since, Never have i even thought of any other school as less or more than us to each there own i say and thats where it should stay , my mother told me if you have nothing nice to say keep it to yourself….. closing notes i Love this school and its people…..thankyou all, your my family
Mission First is top notch in building confidence, useful Jiu Jitsu and life skills for my 10 year old. The environment/culture there instills teamwork and excellence!
My children have been at Mission First since October 2022 and we absolutely love it! All the instructors are so great. There are multiple instructors on the mat at all times to assist the children. I love watching my childrens' confidence grow with each class. I highly recommend Mission First!
Pat and the rest of the instructors are amazing. My son has been working at Mission for over a year now and it has helped him incredibly both on the mat and off. Great professionalism, skill and communication between the coaches and those who are training. I can't recommend Mission First enough for kids or adults!
I got my son into Mission First a few years ago. The instructors were and are still incredible with all the kids. Once I was healed up from a surgery, I joined the school coming from another BJJ school. It has been nothing less than excellent. The instruction of techniques is so detailed. It is a big family at Mission First.
Mission First has created an environment of learning and positive support for those truly seeking to learn and better themselves through the sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. This is my first and only Gym but the expectations are that you show up, do work and try hard. There is no pressure. There is no way I would still be doing BJJ without the environment and mentality Mission Firsts is based on! I truly owe Mission First more than could ever be said.
Everything you want out of a quality jiu jitsu school. Clean mats, instructors who are committed to the growth of their students, good people, palpable sense of camaraderie, and an environment that promotes respect and continuous improvement for all. Whether you are experienced or have never put on a gi, this is the spot.
Love every night I get to train @ Mission First! Absolute best instruction, and group of people to learn, train, and hang with. Grateful for this gym and the crew!
Great instructors, atmosphere and culture. Could not be happier with this school. The history of BJJ is rooted in judo. This school definitely adopt’s judo’s principle of “mutual benefit and well being for all”
I’ve been training at mission first for 2 years and it is awesome! Mission first is full of Great people and great coaches all working to make each other better. I Highly Recommend Mission First!
Easily the best place to train, period. There’s a reason it’s a packed house every night. Great instruction, great people.
Pat and everyone at Mission first have done an amazing job putting together the best training environment in RI. The facility is top notch as well as the instruction. Pat is gifted in the way he teaches and is an all around good guy. I would refuse to train anywhere else.
First class was tonight. Learned that I dont even know the depths of what I dont know. The group was supportive and encouraging and the owner seems like a great guy. I'm definitely going to keep coming.
This is my favorite activity my kids have done. It's twice a week and the kids actually get a real workout in. They also have been able to socialize and make friends
Your progress is the mission of every person when you attend classes here! Constant guidance and tips provided by even the highest ranked members to encourage safety and growth! 100% recommend!!!
Mission first-people always, the name and motto says it all. A true gem in this community and a rare find. No place like it and no other people like these, instructors and students alike. A real family and team environment. First class people, world class instruction, unparalleled in so many ways.
Mission First BJJ has a family friendly, kind and welcoming atmosphere while still providing serious, competitive training. The instructors will help you develop a game that works for you while encouraging personal growth off the mat as well.
I consider myself lucky to have found Mission First, I've spent a few years looking for the right school with no luck and finally found it here. The instructors are the most detail oriented and focused individuals you can ask for. They take personal reasonability for your long term health and growth in the sport, and are able to cater to your individual goals whether its to compete in competitions or just to learn some self defense. Cant recommend it enough.
Mission First is an excellent place to learn Jiu Jitsu. The facility looks beautiful and is equipped with everything you need to get in shape and practice safe jiu jitsu. Instruction is top notch. There is a ton of support/experience amongst the community. I highly recommend people to train at Mission First Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Can’t say enough about this club and the instructors. Great atmosphere, outstanding instruction, great attention to diverse students with different talents, goals, etc. My kid loves it here and so do I.
I started my kids at Mission First and was blown away by the attention and guidance given by the instructors. I started going myself shortly after and haven't looked back. The staff and students are welcoming and more than happy to get you up to speed if you've never done any grappling. The kids classes are fun but informative. They're a mixture of challenging and rewarding that keeps the kids interested and working hard. In the adult classes, Pat works hard to get to know each student and challenge them in ways they specifically need. You won't get that sort of relationship anywhere else.
I have trained with Pat and the gang at Mission First for about 4-5 years now. Since day one, it has been a very welcoming environment. I am a merchant marine that ships out frequently and Pat has always been flexible with my schedule, simply saying that whenever I'm home, the gym will be there for me. I can't say enough about the atmosphere, instruction and ability of the students. It's a great place, now get on the mats and go train!
Coming from a great school in Atlanta I did not know what to expect. This gym is is outstanding, extremely focused on attention to detail and execution of proper technique. The classes are the perfect size for a friendly learning atmosphere that any age, size or skill level can excel in.
An amazing place to train and learn, the vibe is positive and i am so grateful to have found mission first bjj and its practitioners.
Started my Jiu Jitsu journey here and could not be more happy with the academy, coaches and other members. I came in not knowing much about jiu jitsu and everyone made me feel right at home. I would recommend Mission First to anyone!
I came into Mission First about 2 years ago looking for a gym to work out at and to learn some self defense. What I found was a family of like-minded, positive, hard working people who are all trying to better themselves physically and mentally. My 11 year old daughter has started training as well and she loves the school and community as much as I do. Just can’t say enough good things about Pat and the Mission First Family!
I cannot say enough good things about Mission First Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Training with these amazing people has improved my life in every way. A great gym and a strong community. My highest recommendation.
Been training there for the 5 years and I've enjoyed every minute. PAT and all the other instructors do a fantastic job at trying to teach you all they know. I'd highly recommend this facility for anyone thinking about joining or signing their child up for kid classes.
Mission First BJJ is the place to train! Every instructor pours their heart into the class, and the level of instruction incredible. If you are unsure BJJ is for you, I assure you it is… I sat on the fence for years, wondering if I should do it, and now I am kicking myself that I did not start earlier. Not only was it one of the best workouts I have ever done, but it is incredible the skills you gain along the way. Major confidence booster.
Two Swords is a wonderful environment for both kids and adults. Positive atmosphere, great training partners and instructors. This is a clean, healthy gym for the body and mind.
I love this place. I tried a few schools in RI but this one was my favorite. They have top quality instruction with the best question and answer sessions and the cleanest mats I’ve ever rolled on. Most of all, the team is super friendly and welcoming.
Easily one of the friendliest and most technical schools I’ve ever been to. All FOUR black belts are outstanding, especially the owner, Pat. Every student in the school is friendly and helpful no matter what rank you are; it’s just that kind of school. If you’re in the area and want to train in progressive BJJ, you should definitely stop in and hit the mat! Oss!
Great environment and wonderful clean facilities. Pat is very family oriented and treats his students with respect. The training partners are great and there is a welcoming environment with a culture of hardwork, technical skill, and fitness. I have trained throughout the years at many schools and I feel lucky to be a part of 2 swords.
Great school and instructors, friendly environment and an awesome place to train.
Amazing place to train and bring the family. The owner treats his students like family and truley cares about each student's bjj journey.
I was in a course in Rhode Island for 1 year so I was looking for a Brazilian Jiu jitsu Academy for myself and my kids....we enjoyed the training there and they made us feel very welcome, adding to that my game improved alot.. big thanks to the coaches there
Great school with great people. Recommend to all!
Awesome school! Knowledgeable professor and coaching staff, amazing camaraderie, - even for us military guests! - superb kids program, which takes immense patience, intense training sessions and competition prep, and a clean and spacious facility.
I’ve been training at this school for about a year. The instructors are awesome, the environment is friendly and welcoming. Very well rounded school with a variety of experience and a bunch of guys and girls that just want to train and make each other better. The first day I brought my daughter in to the kids class she started crying. Each of the four instructors came to her and made her feel welcome and eased her into the training. I can’t say enough about the professionalism and enthusiasm that the instructors dedicate to the kids and adults alike.
Two Swords Jiu Jitsu is a veteran owned and Rhode Island locally run school. I began my jiu jitsu path at Two Swords back in 2009 while I was in the Navy and the school has continued to grow ever since. You won't find a better team or tighter group of training partners in the area.
My teenage son and I joined Two Swords together two years ago, and I enrolled my two pre-teen boys into the kids class one year ago. This is the best kept secret in RI! The absolute best instructor, staff, and GROUP to roll with!! No matter the age or gender, don't hesitate to check this place out. Go Navy!!
Pat is a great instructor. There's a reason that a large core group of guys have trained with him for 10 years. Gym is professionally run, atmosphere is respectful and competitive, mats are clean. Love this place.
Too much to say about Two Swords BJJ Academy...Great classes, training partners, environment and affordable pricing; and this all stems from the top. Pat and everyone who trains here are welcoming, knowledgeable and willing to help anyone both on and off the mats. If you are in the area I highly recommend stopping in and checking out the school.
Not a better place to train for you or your children!
Awesome kids and adult classes! Great breakdowns on details, tough but friendly training, very clean.
Two Swords is far and away one of the best places to train for any level of BJJ experience, white belt to black belt. Pat and the rest of the coaches always create a welcoming atmosphere and sincerely care about the development of their students. I have trained at a number of Academies throughout the US and my experience at Two Swords is the benchmark of excellence I compare them all against.
High level jiu jitsu, welcoming environment, no egos and a clean facility. 5 stars all day long for this place.
Im a BJJ Black belt and have been training for 11 years. Two Swords, under the direction of Pat, is one of those school that took my Jiu Jitsu to the next level. Not only technically proficient, the professor and students created a welcoming environment. I cannot recommend this school enough.
Best BJJ school in Rhode Island. Friendly coaches with great knowledge, fellow students always happy to train and are very welcoming. Great prices and schedule. You won't find better in Rhode Island. Fellow service members , this school is great for us and always fair, Pat , Sean, and are some of the best teachers I've ever met.
Kids have done a trial class and love it. Will be back
I trained there perhaps 8 times over the summer. Great group of guys. Everyone was very technical and very tough. There were a lot of military guys, so many great athletes. I recommend this place to anyone passing through Newport, RI.
I bought a membership here a few years ago. It was pure bliss until one day right before class, Pat sat down right next to me and began cursing and scolding me. He said that a new member told him I used his chinstrap (headgear) to choke him out. Pat also mentioned that one of the more seasoned belts might even break my arm on accident one day if I continued my behavior. It’s been over six years but I still clearly remember that mat session with the individual who I allegedly choked out using his chinstrap. Here’s what happened: The guy was a new white belt who had been attending classes for a week. He was approx six feet tall with a super strong athletic build. I was about half a foot shorter, 50lbs lighter & equally strong but a lot more flexible. I had already been attending classes for about four months, so I was still a white belt. As soon as we started the rolling session, I felt he was a little spazzy right away so I pulled guard and let him gas out. Once he was tired enough & I managed to roll on top, I surprised him with a good ole Ezekiel choke. I definitely understand why the new guy would think I choked him out with his chinstrap. He didn’t have a clue the Ezekiel choke existed, he had only been doing BJJ for a week, and his rolling partner (me) was a small dude in a tiny Gi so it was just hard for his mind to process. I get it —so I was never upset with the accusation or the accuser. In retrospect, I feel honored to have been cursed at, singled out, and almost beat up over this —haha! In four months, my Ezekiel became stealthy + deadly. All props to Pat & his team!! The only reason I give four stars is that there wasn’t a single security camera inside the gym. Hopefully they install some cameras after reading my review. Just imagine. They could have “reviewed the tapes” after a serious accusation like this and further confirmed Pat’s mastery of teaching the art & maybe, just maybe slid one of those blue belts my way ;)
What can I say, but that this gym doesn’t allow you to train there. Lol. More exclusive then the hottest night club in town. I talked to the owner I think, they are over crowded supposedly, which is understandable I guess, although I heard different from others. However, this gym does not even offer a weekend open mat. Lol. Any gym that is good has an open mat to allow for new skills and styles to interchange with their students. Gyms that don’t have open mat don’t pass the smell test for being even decent.
Paid for a month of classes on April 11th. Showed up for class on may 7th and was told "that isn't how it works" and that I owed him more money if I wanted to participate. These are things that should have been made clear prior to the instructor taking my money. However, he wasn't there at the time i signed up for classes and never bothered to explain this. He had been gone for about a week out of the 3 weeks of classes I was able to attend. If you are in town, I suggest Tim burrill in providence. Not here.
