Even though it's been 15 years since i last did Judo, it all came flooding back once i hit the mat. Everyone there has a great sense of community and has been a tremendous help with every step. The instructors have been fun, informative and patient, embodying the spirit of martial arts as teachers. I look forward to rising the ranks with my peers here!

I just visited Magic BJJ during a visit back home with family. I have lived out of state for quite some time and have no idea about any of the local gyms. This one popped up with excellent reviews and they all make sense. Some of the things that make this gym awesome in no particular order: 1: their mats have plenty of space and they are raised. 2: their instructors and students were all so welcoming and everyone had a positive attitude. 3: there was a very high ratio of upper belts to lower belts in the class I attended. That means there’s a plethora of experience and always someone to answer questions. 4: the instruction was easily digestible, but still felt advanced enough that anyone should have walked away with a lesson learned. 5: the class structure was great. Warm ups, drilling some basic judo concepts, and then into the meat of the BJJ moves of the day. The instruction lasts an hour, immediately followed by open mat where everyone participated. 6: the vibes of the gym and its members tells me they keep each other safe and it’s a comfortable training environment. 7: as someone not new to BJJ, but new to them, I had someone show me around the gym and touch base with me again during and after class. They made sure I felt right at home. 8: they are upgrading their facilities! 9: I saw what I believe may have been a separate women’s class going on. If you’re a woman looking to train and are intimidated, or just want to tailor your training to other women for purposes like competition, it seems they have you covered. 10: they offer a week long trial with unlimited classes if you’re new to BJJ or if you’re trying to find a new gym and want to be sure it’s for you. Overall, I felt like I was right at home. If I am in the area again and my schedule works out, I will definitely be stopping by. Good people and good jiu jitsu.

I am from out of the area and dropped into Magic BJJ for a visit / trial class today and had an incredible experience. The instructors Matt, Mike, and Nick were incredibly knowledgeable and were able to explain techniques so that all levels could understand. The students and instructors were incredibly welcoming and I would highly recommend Magic. If I didn’t already have a school, and I lived on this of the state, I’m sure I would be calling Magic my gym. If you’re considering BJJ gyms in the Lansing area, look no further!

I can not say enough wonderful things about this gym! As a traveling team we stop at lots of gyms and some stand out completely! This is one of them. So incredibly friendly and welcoming, not to mention top instruction and instructors. My three daughters absolutely loved the experience and begged to come back! If you are in the Lansing area, stop by and have your kids do a trial week, because chances are you will end up members. What a great experience in every area.
