  I've just finished Ignites 10 week fighter challenger series 3. 34 years old with no combat sports experience. I took on the challenge having always wanted to do a mma fight but have never trained or pursued it. Over the course of 10 weeks I learnt the basic mma skills, achieved better eating habits and improved my cardio (havnt been this shredded in while). Despite not having prior experience the coaches at Ignite paired me for my match with someone of similar age and skill level. After 10 weeks the fight night was held, where a few hundred spectators attended the evening and watched on as you walked to the octagon and fought. Super loud energy from a big crowd. Your assigned a coach for your match to help with wraps and mentor advice before and during rounds. I was lucky to have a youth member Ryan who wrapped my hands and helped me warm up and Luke Swanson one of the coaches. Luke gave simple yet effective advice which helped me win 2nd round tko. In-between the 1st and 2nd round I felt like I coudln't breathe from anxiety. Supported by Luke and Ryan, I kept my breathe and continued the fight into the 2nd round. It was energetic watching your peers whom you've been training with for 10 weeks have their fights, the fight nights alot of fun. Over the 10 weeks I had a few PT sessions with Dave Martinez/coach of your choice cost included in the challenge. Aswell as challenge only classes once a week separate from the main timetable. Ignites 10 week challenge is about as safe as an environment as you can get to participate in a combat sport. The gym, having trailed 2 other gyms before Ignite to compare the main benefits of Ignite I found; Large commercial building, high ceilings with large floor plans. Doesnt feel claustrophobic while training or rolling. 2 separate large matted area's. Octagon to train in. Weight gym. Suana/ice bath. The gym is open to members during its opening hours. You can attend a class or if the mat is free do your own stretching/drills. Alot of families attend, some parents do pad work/drills while the kids are having their classes. The youths classes have a good turn out. I brought my sons to try some trail classes, they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The coaches, Ignite has multiple coaches ranging from mma, boxing, mauy thai and bjj. Multiple skill sets available to benefit learning from. All the coaches are approachable and respectful. The head coach Ryan Dunstan is extremely professional, coaching multiple active professional fighters, training amature beginner's and complete newbies. In the 3 months I've been attending I havnt had a negative interaction with any of the coaches. They have all been friendly and fun to be around. I intend to stay on training at Ignite having left my weightlifting gym to start mma. Been weightlifting for 10 years going into the gym multiple days a week. Going to go into Ignite instead now 💪

  Ignite Martial arts is such an amazing MMA and BJJ Gym. They have built a great community, with promotes physical fitness, respect and mental discipline. The MMA intro class is what firstly attracted to me the gym and once I settled in a will never look back. The Head Coach Ryan always remembered every name, in the class which was truly impressive. All the coaches are a wealth of incredible Knowledge and experience. My only regret is I didn’t start sooner.

  I have been training here for around 3 months now, moving to Sunshine Coast from Brisbane. I tried out 3 gyms in the region before walking in through the door here. Ignite martial arts is the best gym in the Sunshine Coast. It has a massively successful fight program with many of the best fights in the country training out of here. This could be rather intimidating at first but that very soon after walking in disappeared. The gym is full of members who understand everyone has different skill levels and coaches who have an infectious passion for teaching and developing people into the best martial artists they can be. If fighting isn’t your thing the gym holds strength and conditioning classes as well as just jiu jitsu classes with many high level black belts here who don’t hesitate to pass on their knowledge from beginner to very advanced. Ryan Dunstan the head coach has cultivated a family like feel for everyone who joins the gym and you feel valued as a member regardless of skill level. If you are looking for a gym in the Sunshine Coast you are doing yourself a disservice if you don’t at a minimum give this place a trial.

  Great gym to train at. Everyone is super welcoming & the team atmosphere is something else. I’ve trained at a-lot of different martial arts gyms before and Ignite is by far top of the list. Coach Ryan Dunstan has one of the best minds in the game when it comes to Martial Arts. Was a well established fighter himself & having taken numerous athletes to the world championships. He has a way of bringing out the best in you regardless of what your goals are
