Franco Vacirca, born in 1969, had already gained rich experience with judo, karate and kung fu as a child. At the age of seventeen, he trained in Jeet-Kune-Do/Kali and Thai boxing in Los Angeles for several months, and in the process also became acquainted with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which the Gracie family further developed from centuries-old Japanese Jiu-Jitsu starting in 1925. From then on, Franco Vacirca and his brother Demetrio regularly traveled to Los Angeles to join the Gracies to further deepen their skills. In 1991 they founded the Vacirca Academy in Zurich, which became the Triangle Academy in 2004 – the center for self-defense, sporting duels, but also for mental strength and fair cooperation.
