Visited from South Carolina. Watched my two grandchildren in their Monday night LC2 class. I am familiar with Jujitsu classes…they had a very nice class! Also, the organization for the good size class was great. Everyone who needs special attention gets it. Staff are super friendly and professional. We had in tow a teenage grandchild who belongs to a gym in our state, and he attended the Saturday GB 1 / 2 class. He got a great workout and said he was sad we didn’t live closer. That’s high praise from him😀 Wonderful experience from excellent instructors, and nice people. Thank you Professor Eric and Coach Sierra, owners.
Posted 1 year agoBeen attending GB Yuba City for 8 months now with my daughter. We absolutely love it here! Professor Eric and Coach Sierra are the best people! Very friendly! They are military and first responder friendly! Highly recommend to bring your kids in so they can have the tools to protect themselves when the time comes!
My kids (5 & 3years old) were going for couple months, we left because we moved out of state. During my kid’s time there they looked forward going to classes every time. Both of my kids had no previous BJJ experience when they started. By the end of our time, the boys learned so much and we were sad to leave. Coach Sierra and Professor Eric are the sweetest people I’ve met. They’re very welcoming, greet us with the biggest smile every time. They are patient with the boys. They truly love what they do and you can see it in their eyes, teaching BJJ is their passion. Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful experience. We definitely recommend Gracie Barra in Yuba City to everyone!
Loved the environment and the community! The coaches are VERY knowledgeable and give such a great experience to everyone.
My children both been here now for a few months and let me just say this place makes you feel welcomed. It's very warm and vibrant. Professor Eric and Coach Sierra are so patient and great with the kids. The other coaches they have on staff definitely have that firm but fair approach to the kids.We were invited to celebrate their year anniversary and my kids and I felt very welcomed. When choosing Gracie Barra over others you get the option to go to about 400 different Gracie Barra gym locations. So even tho we primarily use the yuba city we do attend the Roseville location (45 min drive)for the children's competition class. Can not stress how inviting the Gracie Barra gym families are. When looking for a family friendly gym that will help push your kids to get to that next level look no further.
My daughter has been going here even before the new owner had taken over last May. Since then , they have been making improvements on the gym overall- cleaning it up, adding new renovations, and new furniture. But the thing that got me was, since May, my daughter has been EXCITED and happy to be a part of jiu jitsu. They make the classes fun and light while also stressing the importance of learning technique. There has also been a huge influx of girls wanting to learn!
My 3 kids 12, 17, and 20 are taking the class. They are learning and enjoying the class. The class is now listed with Core Charter School. A great PE option! May be with South Sutter Charter :)
My kids have gone here for well over a year and my husband and I started months ago. Amazing people running classes, they make it comfortable for new comers, Everyone is super friendly. Best work out ever!!!
Awesome place to train with great people!
Great gym with amazing coaches! This place has come a LONG way from how it was last year since the new team came in to manage!
My son has learned so much from the instructors at Gracie Barra YC. He has made a lot of growth. I would definitely recommend for children and adults if all ages. I can't way for his younger siblings to join
Great place to train, awesome & super cool coaches.
The new staff have really made some amazing improvements in their facility over the past few months. Professor Eric and Coach Sierra are excellent and caring instructors dedicated to their students of all ages.
This is where I train! If you want a healthy constructive atmosphere to strengthen yourself or family this is it.
The new management is great! Professor Eric and coach Sierra are elite instructors for both adults and kids. Great place to learn self defense and get a great workout if you hate the gym. The information and techniques that are learned at GB YC are priceless!
My four year old attends the younger kids class (3-5) on Saturday mornings at 9:30-10 as parents we love seeing the confidence our son has gained! He is an extremely kind kid who was not sure about doing some of the grappling moves but over the months he is now more comfortable with preforming moves and playing games within the group! We have had amazing coaches Anthony, Paul and Logan who my son has liked very much! He is excited for jujitsu and loves wearing his GI. Thank you Gracie Barra for making my little boy happy! 🤍
Great class! Great confidence booster. Learn something new everyday. Highly recommended course for all age groups. INVEST IN YOURSELF!
Been going here about 6 months great people great instructors and a good invoriment I always look forward to training here !
Such a great place full of great people and great coaches. If you have ever thought about learning bjj or any martial art, don't hesitate to come try it out. It's a very comfortable training environment. You'll regret not doing or trying something more than you'll regret doing or trying something new, so don't regret not joining the Gracie Barra team sooner
I tried all the other jujitsu schools in the area and ended up choosing this one for our 2 kids. They are good with kids when they need correction. They have small classes and thus lots of one on one instruction, unlike the other over crowded options. Evergy and environment is inviting Serious quality instruction but they maintain ballance to keep it fun Good prices for what you get in return.
Super good atmosphere! lots of knowledge here, was nervous coming in but everyone was super welcoming.
Extremely welcoming and supportive culture in this gym.
Fantastic teacher very knowledgeable about the art of Brazilian jujitsu, very communicative and passionate about what he teaches and I would definitely recommend for anybody wanting to increase there self defense skills
Great environment! Coach Anthony love the sport and works hard to make this a place for all!
The instructors, Anthony and Paul, are accommodating and understanding. The coaches teach various jujitsu and wrestling techniques multiple times and actively ensure that everyone understands how to perform the different moves. Anthony and Paul modify the moves to fit the student's physical capabilities. This aspect is important to me as I have cerebral palsy, and I occasionally need to have the moves altered. When I started jujitsu, I was very doubtful of whether or not I'd be able to do something so physically intense; however, the instructors and students motivated me to believe in myself and helped me gain confidence. Not only has this helped me become a better jujitsu and wrestling practitioner, but it has also given me confidence in my day-to-day life. The atmosphere is very welcoming and encouraging. I recommended Gracie Barra in Yuba City to many of my friends and family.
Very welcoming! The coaches are clear and thorough with their instructions. If you find that you might have missed a step, they will walk you through the moves. It really is for everyone, with my heart condition, (POTS) it can be difficult for me to do physical activity and they are aware of my limitations and are very accommodating.
Great atmosphere, very friendly and welcoming people. Professor is extremely knowledgeable and good with gym/class management.
Great place to train great trainning partners
Gracie Barra Yuba City is a great facility for all ages! Great family environment and high level jiu jitsu instruction!
Update: The new owners have really turned this place around. It is now cleaned up, stellar and communication appears to have improved. Meech, thank you for reaching out. Updated to 4 They are late to classes and often are struggling for instructors to teach the classes. Restrooms are dirty & so is the location. Apart from the small location and unkept building they are a good school.
Great environment great people. First class is free and you will see how out of shape you are. Bring water it's a crazy workout. Adhd kids like me need this kind of discipline, exercise, and humility. That being said, it's extremely expensive and you need to buy their specific gi
A lot change after few months, we are still here waiting for be back to the normal. Building front door slam side to side very bad be careful whit , few lower glass broken kids sometimes put finger on , i ready talk about nothing change, my son get cut the feet whit little glass on the mat . They really now what they doing talking about jiujitsu but really bad organized . Sometime cancel whit note at the door , change a lot the trainers ! Again the are really good coaches! My respect but my time and money cost me ! I try call the number on here but not respond and voicemail full .
So in my pursuit of looking for a good jujitsu class I drove by this place as I was running some errands with my two boys, 9 & 17 yrs old, we stopped by because the lights were on, and I could see that there was someone inside. I’m a little old fashioned, and I really like to visit places to get a good feel for the environment and the people. The door was unlocked, so me and my boys walked through. I said hello to announce that we had entered their facility, and we were met by a paranoid gentleman who scrambled out of the bathroom frantically, and defensively. I could tell that he was caught off guard, so I apologized and asked if he was ok. I was just about to inquire about their trainings and classes when he interrupted me by saying that it was not business hours and told us to leave. I was a little taken aback so I attempted to explain to him that we saw that the lights were on and the door was obviously open, but he interrupted by saying “it’s not business hours, so see your selves out” I totally understand that we may not have come at a good time, and I don’t know what role this guy plays at this training center, hopefully he wasn’t the owner, but I really feel like there was a better way to handle the situation, especially with youngsters present. It’s not even what he said, but more how he said it. I have never written a bad review before and typically don’t write them at all, but being in customer service myself, I know there was a better way to communicate business hours, and this guy totally missed the mark. Again, I’m pretty forgiving, but his reaction was way over the top given the situation at hand. ***TECHNICALLY ZERO STARS*** UPDATE: Anthony, I have no reason to lie. Your more than welcome to schedule a phone call to talk to my boys and let them tell you in your own words, unless you were the gentleman who we interacted with, then you already know. I hope you and your instructors face this with all honesty and learn from it. Good luck to you,
