This place is fantastic for Brazilian Jui-Jitsu open mats. I really appreciate that they have an open mat dedicated to first responders and military. Everyone here is very welcoming and friendly. The gym is clean and well organized. The atmosphere is great. I would reccomend this gym to friends and family.

Just sign up already! All the reviews will be 5 stars. Professor Lucas, Paula and all the coaches are completely genuine, they are the real deal. Don’t think about this for years like I did, get started. My daughters and I love every training session and the community we have found at Gracie Barra Ocotillo.

I would give GB Ocotillo 10 out of 5 stars if I could. I have been training here since 2021 after I moved to Arizona. This is not just a place to get healthier and learn BJJ. Professor Lucas and the team have created a culture around building a family and self confidence around everyone that walks through the doors. The only days I regret are the days that I am unable to make it in!

Highly recommend GB-Ocotillo for anyone who is interested in Jiu-Jitsu. My six year old has been attending for about a year now and absolutely loves it. Professor Lucas and all of the coaches create a welcoming, supportive atmosphere and use teaching techniques that keep the students interested and growing. The progress my son has made and the excitement he has for going to class is a reflection of the dedication and outstanding coaching abilities of the staff. If you're interested definitely worth a trial class.

Due to being in the military and moving around a lot I have trained at a lot gyms. This is by far my favorite one! The reason I chose GB Ocotillo was because of the amazing atmosphere during my first time on their mats. Everyone was so welcoming, friendly and you could tell they had a great understanding of the martial art. Plus, Professor Lucas remembered my name after the first time I met him. Which I’ve come to learn is one of the hardest for most Professors. I highly recommend Gracie Barra Ocotillo for EVERYONE! Men, women and children. Go train here.

GB Ocotillo is top notch! Both of our girls have been attending classes there for over two years now and have benefitted from the patience and dedication Professor Lucas and his team provide. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend GB Ocotillo to anyone I know.

I highly recommend Gracie Barra Ocotillo. My oldest daughter has been a student for over 2 years, my youngest and myself have been students for about 1 years. The staff is very knowledgeable, professional, patient and encouraging. I also believe the techniques are very practical for self-defense and real- life situations. As a father of two daughters, I am very happy with this school and the training. I evaluated many other self-defense programs/martial arts schools and am glad we choose this one. Again, I highly recommend Gracie Barra Ocotillo.

100% recommend Gracie Barra Ocotillo. My daughter is a very sensitive 5yr old and we joined earlier this summer with no experience in jiu jitsu. At first she was scared and shy but, the coaches, Professor Lucas, and Paula were all so patient with my daughter helping her to ease into the training. They took their time with her and it really helped her to gain their trust and friendship. Everyone is so helpful and the atmosphere is welcoming. Great staff and professionalism by professor Lucas and Paula.

My 11 year old son has been going here for almost 6 months now and he loves it. He is always disappointed if he has to miss a night. Paula is wonderful to work with and always quick to answer when I have questions. They also did a free defense class that my daughter attended and loved!

We highly recommend GB Ocotillo Jiu-jitsu. We enrolled our 12 year old daughter and 13 year old son about 6 months ago. Their confidence and skill set have improved and they leave class with smiles and laughter. We feel this gym is a great place to teach our children discipline, self defense, and the joy of movement.

Our son started training here in 2021 and he has loved it straight away since the trial lesson. All of the coaches, Professor Lucas and Paula are all so encouraging and have aided in our sons growth over the last few years. There is definitely a sense of family here!

I have been going to several Gracie Barra schools around the US and they have all been amazing. The atmosphere they provide is fun and encouraging. The professors at this location are great at what they do and they are eager to educate others on it. They become more then just a gym it becomes a great community to be a part of!

We started our jujitsu journey with just our oldest, it is now a family thing. From the moment we walked into the gym for the first class we knew we found our gym. The professors and coaches are all amazing. Paula makes everyone who walks in the door feel welcome. Putting fears and Insecurities at ease. Guiding every new student through the first steps & process of jujitsu. This we are truly grateful for.

Both my sons are training jujitsu here,it’s one of my best decisions to put them in the classes. Professor Lucas and other coaches are super personable, technical and knowledgeable. Beyond that professor Lucas is truly care about every kids. He always make appropriate arrangements for kid’s sparring. My boys get so much encouragement, their confidence, grit, discipline and strength have skyrocketed. They always look forward to the class. And Paula is super supportive, patient and warm- hearted, she explains everything very clearly and always there to support.

I moved from san diego california leaving Victory MMA of which was my original juijitsu home with all their talent. I did not think i can find another juijitsu home here in eloy arizona. Although i had to drive 45 minutes to attend class this gym is well worth it. Everybody is very friendly and Professor Lucas and Paula are very accommodating to make sure your technique and experience is enjoyable. I had to put membership at a pause for personal reasons but i am diffinetly returning in the future. If you ask me, diffinetly check it out and you wont regret it..🤙

I’ve trained at a couple local gyms, and GB Ocotillo quickly became my home gym. They train both gi and no gi, which was important to me. They also offer morning and evening classes, which means I pay way less per class than I was paying elsewhere. The community and gym environment is positive and encouraging. I love training here, and the staff and members have become like family to me. I would highly recommend committing to at least a trial class. You will be so glad you did!

Just got back to the States and was training overseas at a different GB, Professor Lucas warmly welcomed me to the mat. The facility is beautiful - spacious, clean, and most importantly, very cool inside lol. They have a shop, water fountain, and a women/male changing room. The training was fantastic, the team was great to roll with, and if I lived here and wasn’t just visiting family, I would DEFINITELY be making this my new home gym. Thank you for having me! 🙏🏽

We love it here! Professor Lucas is patient, direct and SO POSITIVE with the kids, and also provides many opportunities for the various ages, levels, and skills to continue to improve and be challenged! The coaches that assist him are a perfect compliment to his methods and expectations. Our son started nearly 2 years ago and we loved it so much that slowly all four of us joined in.

We had a fantastic experience with Gracie Barra Ocotillo. The staff is kind, welcoming to brand new students and have a nice community. We were part of this studio for almost a year with the goal of building self-confidence in our 10 year old. It was entirely worth it. He wanted to explore other sports and that is why we moved on.

Training and learning at Gracie Barra Ocotillo has been a remarkable experience! The coaches and professor are strong technicians and able to explain jiu jitsu in a way that an inexperienced person can understand and apply what has been taught. It is a no pressure, fun atmosphere, while at the same time competitive and interesting. I’m able to learn at my own pace and that, for me, is important with my work and family schedule. This has been a great addition to my life, one I plan to enjoy for years to come!

My daughters and I started at Gracie Barra Ocotillo a little over three years ago. It has been an incredible experience all around. BJJ has given my family and I life lessons, skills, physical health benefits, confidence, camaraderie and friendships. Professor Lucas and Paula are a dynamic duo that bring comfort and compassion to the experience. I couldn’t imagine this experience being better for my daughters and I anywhere else.

The instructors, the people and the environment there are amazing. My 10 year-old confidence and strength has grown in only a few weeks and I am joining the women’s class too. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for ways to help kids (and adults) be healthy and tough, mentally and physically. It is great way to teach discipline as well.

I was a little hesitant to start Jiu Jitsu being over 50 and partially disabled but tried it anyway and I am very happy that I did!!!! Gracie Barra Ocotillo welcomed me with open arms. The Professor, coaches and students are very professional, courteous and family oriented. I have gone to multiple classes day/night, gi/no gi, and everyone I have met has been very engaging, polite and willing to share their experiences and knowledge. I highly recommend you stop in for a visit, talk to the staff, coaches and students. You won't regret it!!!!

A few years ago I wanted to get some exercise and this place happened to be closer to my house than the gym across the street. I came in with little expectations, and It turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life. The Jiu Jitsu journey here has been filled with comradery, friendship and excitement. The staff / coaches are all very amicable and laid-back. The students' ages range from young kids to retirees. There's a place for everyone here, highly recommended.

Professor Lucas and his wife Paula are the most gracious people and this GB school is amazing. My son and daughter have been training here for nearly 2 years. Prof Lucas is the most patient and kind-hearted instructor who truly cares about these kids. He has an effortless way of sharing his knowledge and skills with all age groups. We are so grateful for the school being a positive environment, a place where our kids feel loved by everyone at the gym, all the coaches and staff are amazing, and we've made lifelong friends. My son has received so much encouragement and has thrived in his BJJ skills, that he is now a member of their Competition Team. In addition to becoming a better athlete, he's learned determination, motivation, and perseverance. He's learned that he can train hard and accomplish his goals. These are life-skills that I'm so grateful he has through BJJ. Thank you Lucas, Paula, and all the coaches that have such a positive impact on my kids.

Excellent school. I started at 38 and have been active for almost 4 years now. There are no egos here and all are welcome. Professor Lucas is an incredible instructor and even better person. Whether you’re looking to lose weight, learn a new skill, meet some people, compete, or get the family involved; this school has it all. You will not be disappointed and a trial lesson is always available…just ask and Paula will get you squared away.

This academy is amazing! If you’re looking for a place you can go to really learn jujitsu at a deep level this is a place to go. Lucas, Paula and the rest of the staff are amazing! Lucas, the professor is great at explaining the dynamics and psychology behind everything that is taught. Everyone there that I have rolled with has always had something to teach me. The camaraderie that is felt there is a brotherhood that is hard to find! I always walk away feeling like I’ve learned so much in every session. If you are considering getting yourself or your kids into jujitsu this is a place you’ll want to check out!

We started at this location for my daughter. She’s in LC1 and has made friends and built confidence by going. I’ve since joined and we continue to go because of the community built here. The leadership and welcoming environment is truly something else. When we walk in they know us, they know our family, and they care. I look forward to class and growing and couldn’t do it without the support from everyone at GB Ocotillo.

Joining GB Ocotillo has been such a wonderful experience for my entire family. I would have never guessed in a million years that I would appreciate Jiu-jitsu the way that I do today - the love of the art is evident in Professor Lucas and Paula (Mrs. Paula according to my kids) as they translate that love to EVERYONE that steps through the door! They have created a knowledgable team, respectful environment, and a family oriented space where you can grow and share your new love for Jiu-jitsu. We love being a part of the team and family ❤

My son and husband started with Gracie Barra Ocotillo at the end of December 2021. Since starting this is all they talk about! THEY LOVE IT HERE! Lucas and Paula are amazing as well as the rest of the staff. The kids class for ages 3-6 is always a blast. They keep the kiddos intrigued as they are teaching them fundamentals of jiu jitsu. They are fun and assertive with the kids and it’s truly a blessing having the professor and coaches that they do at Gracie Barra Ocotillo! When they say it’s for everyone they really make you feel apart of their community no matter if you participate or if you are there for support!

When we moved to Arizona 2 1/2 years ago, we found Gracie Barra Ocotillo. We couldn’t be more grateful to Professor Lucas and the GB family. We are lucky to have them in our lives. Professor takes time to talk with our son about what is going on with him not only concerning Jiu-Jitsu but also with school and his personal life. Professor and coaches always displays that Jiu-Jitsu is more than the mat, it’s about brotherhood, integrity, and development. Our son is more confident and has grown as a young man because of GB Ocotillo.

I have nothing but positive things to say about GB Ocotillo. Professor Lucas and Paula have built something special there. Prof Lucas is an exceptional instructor and leader, who is kind and patient. All of the kids adore him, with good reason. And Paula greets everyone that walks through the doors with the same warm smile and kind words. It’s no surprise how tight-knit the community is at GB Ocotillo. That’s truly what it is… it’s much more than a jiu jitsu school. It’s a community. To top it off, the instruction is top-notch, and I have seen a noticeable (positive) difference in all three of my children since we started a year and a half ago. We are so thankful to have found GB Ocotillo.

My family and I moved to Arizona almost 3 years ago. We moved away from our family and the life we knew, to build a better future for kids. 2 years ago my husband and daughter signed up for a trial jiu jitsu class at GB Ocotillo. They immediately fell in love with the community and Paula and Professor Lucas. Paula made sure we had everything we needed and welcomed our family with love. Professor Lucas made sure to help my little girl feel safe and welcome on the mats. The community all joined in and soon became our family. A year later my son and I joined in on the fun. We spend almost everyday at the school and learn and grow alongside some of our closest friends. Jiu Jitsu teaches you your strengths and weaknesses, the community teaches you what’s really important. We love Gracie Barra Ocotillo!
