What a great group of people. I dropped in for an open mat today. I was greeted and assisted right away by Alice I believe. Sorry if I forgot. The rolls were fun and challenging as expected. Facility was abundant with all the necessities. Truly a great place to train! Thank you for having me y’all!

Foundations has been an phenomenal place for a complete beginner with 0 martial arts experience like myself try something new. The Friday and Sunday fundamentals classes offer a really fun and welcoming learning environment with great instructors. The Foundations team have consistently gone above and beyond to remove barriers of entry, including providing helpful beginner safety tips, loaner gis for those without, and a free trial period for new members.

Can't recommend doing BJJ here enough. I train both No-gi & Yes- Gi here and the instructors are all great. I also attend the Open Mat training. Which is wonderfully supportive for any technique I am working out with a wide range of people from around the city who come here. It's wonderful atmosphere, I have seen new people, visiting practitioners, and people return to training walk in and all be welcomed. Doing jiu jitsu in Madison means doing it at Foundations.

Having trained in many gyms, I can say that the environment and culture of Foundations is top-notch. You couldn't ask for a more welcoming, open gym to train BJJ at. All of the instructors have thoughtful instruction and the curriculum is logical and well-taught. The gym is continuously growing with an exciting trajectory (more classes, guests, camps, etc. being offered). Arun is very communicative with all email/logistical info, and an all-around rad person, blackbelt, and leader. So grateful to have found an awesome place to train at!

If you're looking for a gym here in Madison look no further. This establishment is by far the best place in town. Knowledgeable and friendly teachers make this place very comfortable and approachable for beginners like myself. But don't be fooled as this gym still harbors lots of talented and skillful students of all skill levels. They also encourage a trial period so you can be sure it's something you'd enjoy which is very nice. You'll find yourself quickly hooked on this sport and the fantastic people involved. Before you know it it'll be the highlight of your week. I couldn't be more happy with Foundations BJJ :)

I knew I was at a good school when the instructor loaned me a Manto GI top (quality and good taste) and a The Jiu-Jitsu Brotherhood Gi bottom (generous with sharing knowledge and inclusive organization). The instructor and the students were welcoming and had excellent mount control and transition to back attacks. The class started on time at 7 o’clock sharp with no warm. The instructor Todd an outside and inside DL sweeps followed by some mount escapes. The latter half of the class consisted of live rolling starting from the mount positions. I found it especially challenging to use the mouth escape we’ll just practice when your partner knows what you are going to do. It was a great class. I would recommend this place.

My home when I am in Madison.. Arun, Mike, Matt and Drew and all of the other students are both great people on and off of the mats. I have been coming here once a year for the past few years and the hospitality that I receive is second to none. On top of that, they provide affordable training to everyone, all of this while being extremely technical and having a high level training environment

I decide to stop by to train while in town for work and Professor Mike was great. He was extremely attentive to everybody in class and the class was pretty crowded. He's explaination of techniques were also awesome and explained everything very thoroughly and in a way that was easy to understand. I would definitly recommending stopping by if you're in the Madison area. Everybody was extremely welcoming and had a great attitude. Great place to roll!

I had never tried jiu jitsu before and dropped in on a couple of classes while traveling through Madison. This school has a very good atmosphere and I really enjoyed the experience. Would definitely go back if I'm in Madison again.
