Best Professor hands down. Professor Raphael is very professional, charismatic, inspiring and honestly great with the kids. The whole team at Fortaleza create such a caring and fun atmosphere. This is excellent discipline and self defense class for kid. Our son loves the classes. Recommended already to all of our friends!

I hope the people living near this gym realize how lucky they are to have professor Rafa as an instructor. This gym is a goldmine. Not only is the gym inviting, well put together and just a vibe, but the people are so kind and welcoming, ranging from all different kinds of backgrounds. Professor Rafa is also one of the best to ever do it. I’ve been training jiu jitsu for a while, and training with him made me realize that there are LEVELS to jiu jitsu. I’m telling you, he will make you feel like a fresh white belt again 😂 the way he moves and chains techniques together is genuinely fantastic. Not only is he incredible at jiu jitsu, but he is a fun, kind, nice, and knowledgeable instructor. He is great with kids, teens, and adults. He is always ready to give advice and help improve your skills. If you’re even a smidge interested in jiu jitsu, and you wanna check this place out, the universe has gifted you an incredible opportunity to train and learn from, quite literally, one of the best. Absolutely awesome gym!!!!

We cannot say enough good things about this jiu jitsu gym. Enrolling our kids, has honestly been one of the best decisions we’ve ever made for them. Not only are they learning respect, discipline, confidence, and hard work, but they’ve also gained something even more valuable — a family. The coaches genuinely care about the kids and create an environment where everyone feels supported, encouraged, and believed in. Jordyn and Jake have built friendships here with teammates who trust and uplift each other both on and off the mats. Watching our kids grow in confidence, character, and resilience has been incredible. We are so thankful to be part of this community and highly recommend this gym to any family considering jiu jitsu for their children.

Starting mixed martial arts at 44 years old sounded like a daunting task. However, after meeting professor Rafa, and trying it out, I was hooked. The family you make is one of a kind. His leadership led me to place second in my first IBJJF masters 3, ultra heavy class. Can’t wait to see how much more I learn and grow this next year. Highly recommend. Great for both physical and mental health for men that have struggles in life. OSS

Training under Professor Rafa has been an incredible experience. He is, without a doubt, the most knowledgeable instructor I’ve ever trained with. His understanding of jiu-jitsu goes far beyond technique—he breaks things down in a way that makes even complex concepts feel clear and accessible. What truly sets him apart is his patience. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced student, he takes the time to make sure you understand, never rushing the process. That level of care creates a learning environment where you actually improve, not just go through the motions. He’s also exceptional with both kids and adults. With kids, he brings the perfect balance of structure, encouragement, and fun. With adults, he maintains a high level of detail and professionalism while still being approachable and supportive. The academy reflects his leadership—welcoming, disciplined, and focused on growth. It’s a place where anyone, regardless of experience level, can feel comfortable and challenged at the same time.
