Welcome to Form Jiu Jitsu, offering world class instruction in BJJ for all ages and ability levels ranging from children to adults.
My son has been studying at Form for over a year and a half. He started with one class and now enjoys going to class 4 times a week and has even competed in a tournament. He has made friends in the process and learned a great deal about sportsmanship, perseverance and competition. All of he teachers know him, and all students, by name and are attentive to all needs and learning styles. All of the teachers are both personal and professional with him. Specifically, Coach Brenda is amazing as the instructional leader of most of his classes. She has been inspirational to him and sets a strong example of toughness and persistence. I highly recommend the teachers and learning goals set by them. It continues to be an amazing experience.
We love this place. As of this writing we've had our kids at Form for about a year and a half. The coaches and professors are invested both in seeing the kids grow in their jiu jitsu and in their personal development. They really are top notch - many of them have competed and won at the highest levels of BJJ, but they are all super humble, nice, caring, supportive people. I'd absolutely recommend Form to anyone curious about jiu jitsu either for themselves or their kids. My kids knew about me writing this review and wanted to offer their perspectives as well, so bear with us. From my son (8 years old): I like Jiu jitsu. I like the sparring and the racing in warmups. I like that it made me stronger. Sometimes when I when I get to the mat, I feel very happy. It is very nice to go to jiu-jitsu. The coaches and professors are nice, but they are also strict and stern because they want you to do well and know that you can do well. To the adult: if you want to send your kid to Form, it's very fun. But you need to pay attention. If your kids pays attention, they should be ok. Like, if they mess up the first time they try something, the coaches will show it another time. It is important to be paying attention so that you can listen and do the move well and be at the top of your class. If you wanted to jiu-jitsu at Form, all you have to do is sign up and get to know the place. It's pretty good. Remember, keep calm and carry on because it doesn't get easier we work to get better. I love going to Form. It is very fun! From my daughter (6 years old): I like to do Jiu jitsu because I like to get strong and do warm-ups. My favorite things are sparring rounds. Sparring means you can do any drill you learned over the past couple of months. Jiu-jitsu is mostly fun. You do have some tough guys in the little kids group, but we are working together. The kids are mostly nice. Professor Brenda is a black belt. She is a professor not a coach. She is really good and fun. Coach Savannah and Coach Morgan are my other coaches. They are really nice and good. You learn a lot. Competitions are sometimes hard and I failed getting medals twice. But then you just get better. My brother says "it doesn't get easier, you work to get better."
We’ve been so delighted with our 6 year-old son’s growth in both confidence and skill over the past two years at Form. Coach Brenda is an outstanding instructor.
Training at Form Jiu Jitsu is awesome. I started in my late 40s and am now in my early 50s and the instructors have been patient and accommodating with how to adjust techniques for me. Professor Rick studied under legends in jiujitsu, won a world championship and has developed champions from regional to the world level. Yet, he and any of the other instructors will take time after class to answer questions and get back on the mat to show nuances you may have missed during class. Teammates are great, they will challenge you while rolling and push you, then pat you on the back afterwards and help you get better. Flexibility of Form’s schedule makes training very convenient too. Multiple times a year we will be out of town for extended period of time and a simple email or DM pauses my membership until I can come back. Nothing has changed…except the others got noticeably better while I was gone. Starting jiujitsu at any age is hard, but a friendly place, that is small enough you won’t get lost in the crowd and has quality instructors makes it that much easier. There is really something for every level at Form. Hobbyist? Come on in, learn, have fun and get a great workout. Competitor? You will share the mat with multiple champions, be able to roll with them and speed up your progress.
Form Jiu Jitsu is the best gym. Instructors are second to none. If you’re looking to get stronger physically and mentally check it out.
My 5 year old son and I love Form. I trained judo through college but have had some time off, and it’s been great to get back into a grappling sport with high quality instruction and a supportive group of practitioners. Many students train and compete at a high level, but there is room for hobbyists trying improve as well. Everyone is welcoming and friendly, with no ego or grandstanding. Professor Rick is a great teacher and leader and sets a great tone for practice. It seems like a great place for women to train as well, with many very skilled women students and coaches. The kids program is great as well, Professor Brenda does a great job balancing fun and accountability, and teaches even the young kids real techniques. The 4-7 year old group is popular with lots of chances for different rolling partners, sometimes there can be 15-20 out there but the coaches keep them in line and still provide individual instruction and feedback. The small independent feel of the gym is really nice too. The flexibility of schedule and month to month membership is great; we’ve paused a couple times for travel and other sports, but always come back. It’s nice to come for the kids class and then stay for the adult gi class. All in all it’s been a great experience; I recommend it to anyone looking to try out the sport first time or get back into it!
Instructors and staff are excellent! Classes for my children are engaging and challenging. Highly recommend.
I've trained on and off for a long time and visited a variety of martial arts gyms over the years. Form has always been top tier in terms of level of instruction and training environment. If you commit to a goal in jiu jitsu, Form is the best place to accomplish it.
As an airline pilot I have had the opportunity train at gyms all over the country, Form Jiu Jitsu is leagues above the competition
Great gym, awesome teammates and top notch instruction! Would recommend this place to anyone.
I’ve been lucky enough to train at some of the best gyms in the world run by world champions and legends of the sport, but hands down Form is the best school I’ve trained at. It’s the perfect size (big enough to have competitive training partners of your size and skill level, but still small enough to know everyone and get much needed individual attention which is the toughest part at the larger gyms). I’ve made more progress in my game here than anywhere else, and I attribute that to Professor Rick’s structure and teaching style. The classes have a structured curriculum each week so you’re able to retain the information, and he’ll expand upon it the next week so you’ll get plenty of repetitions. His teaching style is what really sets him apart though. He’ll demonstrate a technique like any other instructor will, but he always seems to have an extra tiny detail that makes all the difference. He’ll expand upon the technique even more by talking about how he approaches it from a broad conceptual level, his thought process behind doing it, and when to use it in various contexts such as in a competition. It’s hard to find instructors like that and the fact that there’s a relatively small gym in Baltimore, a city not known for its jiu jitsu scene, that is able to produce world champions is a testament to his teaching abilities. Couldn’t recommend the place more
George is a great instructor! I love taking his Tuesday's and Wednesday's basics class. Highly recommend his class
Form Jiu Jitsu has been an absolute game-changer for me. The instructors are not just experts in their craft, but they're also incredibly passionate about sharing their knowledge. Training at Form has not only improved my technique but has also enhanced my overall fitness and mental resilience. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the camaraderie among fellow practitioners creates a positive and motivating environment. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced practitioner, the personalized attention and guidance make every class valuable. Five stars without a doubt!
I cannot say enough good things about Form. I started training here a year ago, having never done jiu-jitsu before, and I was immediately hooked. Professor Rick and all of the coaches are dedicated, friendly, and genuinely want the best for their students. Whether you want to learn a new skill, self-defense, lose weight, or compete, Form is the best in the area. It’s a warm and welcoming environment - everyone is super friendly and just trying to improve themselves. If you’re a parent, I’d highly recommend signing your kids up for the kids program. The kids all seem to have a blast, and the things they learn would definitely translate well to other sports too. The coaches (some world champions) are also great teachers and role models for them. Check Form out on Instagram, drop in on a class, and sign up! You won’t regret it.
Great place to train. They got morning and evening classes and it’s basically everyday. Great coaches and great teammates! Definitely recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My kids, currently 8 and 6, have been going to Form for about a year now, and I have been nothing short of impressed! Here is my long, detailed review: It was last year that I was looking into activities/sports/athletics for my kids. When I looked into Jiu jitsu, I loved what I saw it taught kids: patience, strength, discipline, focus, camaraderie, respect, control of your own body, and good sportsmanship. So I searched online and looked through quite a few BJJ academies before I found Form. I reached out and got a response from Rick inviting the kids to come and try a class. When we took the kids to Form, my husband and I found the door that would take us down a ramp to a sublevel area where Form is. At the time, my husband jokingly asked me where in the world am I taking our kids 🤣. Turns out, it’s to a place my kids now love going to. The Coaches and Professors are incredibly skilled in what they do and how they teach. They have incredibly impressive backgrounds and wins - world champion medals - but even so, they get to know my kids and all the other kids very well. They remember each kids name and capabilities. They make the environment so supportive and welcoming. They joke around and keep things fun but they also set expectations for their class and hold the kids to it. Ex., My son has a hard time with losing. His coaches address it, provide boundaries on what is and isn’t acceptable, and coach him through it. They communicate with us, checking in on anything that may have happened, so we can all be on the same page. They’ve also been helpful in answering our questions since we’re still new to the BJJ world. My son is in the older kids class. He talks excitedly about what he learned. It’s kinda cool to watch him put techniques he’s learned together. My daughter is in the younger class, and I can see the foundation she is building for certain techniques my son is doing. She has these moments where I see her do what she learned and she is so proud of herself! Our kids have shown interest in, and doing some BJJ competitions over the last year. I really appreciate that the goal the coaches have for kids new to competing is to learn, have fun, and do their best to apply what they’ve learned. My kids had their Form coaches coaching from the sidelines and cheering them on. It’s setting a good foundation for the love of the sport. We are a budget conscious family, and I feel like the cost per month is incredibly fair along with the ability for the kids to come to one class a week or 3. If anyone reading this is considering having their kids go here, I’d definitely say go for it!
Great place for kids to learn. Coach Brenda is amazing.
I have been training at Form for three years now and I have to say it has been one of the best investments I have made in myself. Rick Slomba is a world class BJJ professor training world class athletes and the level of growth from everyone I’ve seen who trains there is incredible! If anybody is looking into training BJJ I absolutely recommend Form.
Form Jiu Jitsu Academy is by far the best facility I have ever trained at. The atmosphere has always been so welcoming. They offer high level jiu jitsu and amazing teammates and coaches!
Joined at 13, this gym sculpted my wrestling journey. From basics to advanced, instructors guided every step. Grateful to the staff for five years of transformative training and unwavering support. Uní a los 13 años, este gimnasio esculpió mi camino en la lucha. Desde lo básico hasta lo avanzado, los instructores guiaron cada paso. Agradecido al personal por cinco años de entrenamiento transformador y apoyo inquebrantable.
I've been a part of this gym for about a year now, and it's undeniably a highly competitive place. What sets this gym apart is the level of education being offered. They offer beginner classes, providing a solid start for newcomers as well as advanced classes for those who are more seasoned in the sport. The instruction is top-tier. Forms' commitment to the success of all students, regardless of experience or belt rank, is incredible. If I ever have a question, Rick always takes the time to work through the areas that I am stuck on and has always been extremely patient. Other members and instructors are also always willing to share their insights and perspectives if you just ask. Many of the instructors and members are champions, consistently reaching the podium in major competitions like IBJJF, Pans, and even worlds. The hard work invested into the students' education translates exceptionally well to success in competitions and their overall growth in the sport. As far as first impressions go, I remember initially feeling like some members came off as being more aloof but as time passed I realised that their demeanor is more about them just being incredibly focused on their goals and determined to be the best. Which is something I can respect and honestly a little tough love can help motivate or push people towards their fullest potential. One aspect that I like about this gym is that there are other females who train here. A lot of times I have been to places where I was the only female participant on the mats, so having female trainers provided me with an opportunity to roll with people of similar size and gain experience across different belt levels. The presence of competitive black belt females, some of whom are high-level competitors, is an awesome thing that also makes Form stand out compared to other schools. Overall, I deeply appreciate my time at this gym and look forward to continuing to work hard and grow as a practitioner here.
Wonderful gym with amazing instructors who excel at teaching to your strengths while helping you to build your skill and character.
I am delighted to share my comprehensive review of Form BJJ Training Academy, where I have dedicated the past year to refining my Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skills. As a passionate martial arts enthusiast, my experience at this exceptional training facility has been nothing short of extraordinary. Form BJJ's coaching staff stands out as truly outstanding. Their expertise and unwavering passion for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu shine through in every class. Regardless of whether you're a novice or an advanced practitioner, the instructors adeptly tailor their approach to suit individual skill levels. They exhibit patience, approachability, and a genuine willingness to provide guidance, ensuring that each student benefits from personalized attention. The academy's curriculum is impressively well-structured, encompassing a diverse array of techniques and concepts. Classes are meticulously designed to progress from fundamental skills to more advanced concepts seamlessly. The emphasis on both self-defense and the sportive aspects of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu adds a comprehensive dimension to the training experience, enriching the learning journey for practitioners of all levels. In conclusion, my year at Form BJJ Training Academy has proven to be immensely rewarding. The combination of expert instruction and a well-rounded curriculum positions Form BJJ as an outstanding choice for those venturing into the realm of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I wholeheartedly recommend Form BJJ to both beginners and seasoned practitioners seeking a professional and enriching training experience. The academy's commitment to excellence has made my journey truly transformative, and I am confident it will do the same for anyone passionate about advancing their martial arts skills.
I have never written a google review in my life and the fact that I am compelled to do so should say something about Form Jiu Jitsu Academy. They offer world class instruction to all skill levels and are able to adapt their teaching styles well from individual to individual. After moving to the area 2 years ago, they have quickly become a part of my daily routine and make me feel welcome in the city of Baltimore.
I've been training at Form since early 2021 and I have NEVER been more consistent with exercise. As a PhD student there are stretches where I can't train, but I come in when I can. When I knew I couldn't train for a stretch more than a month I could just talk to Rick (head coach) to pause the subscription (no contracts) and I didn't have to worry about it until I came back in to train. Form has many people who compete both locally and nationally... and win. Better yet, these competitors have different body types (lightweight, heavy, short, tall, etc..) so they have technical games that suit whatever style works for them and make for a great source to learn from. In short, those who train here are striving to be elite so as a hobbyist who's put in the time I've become someone who competes to sharpen my skills to their level.
I started training at Form over a year ago with no jiu jitsu experience and I love the gym. All the professors are great. Very professional, great instruction, no egos. Forms atmosphere breeds confidence, great competition, and being the best jiu jitsu practitioner you can be.
Training at Form Jiujitsu Academy has been an incredible experience! The instructors are knowledgeable, patient, and passionate about teaching. The classes cater to all skill levels, ensuring everyone feels included and challenged. The facility is clean, well-equipped, and provides a welcoming atmosphere. I've seen remarkable progress in my technique and confidence since joining. Highly recommended for anyone interested in learning Jiujitsu in a supportive and motivating environment!
Form is the best gym in Baltimore. Everyone is super friendly and helpful while still being competitive, and it’s easy to learn at your own pace. Whether you come one day a week and or everyday Form never gets boring. I would definitely recommend Form to anyone thinking of doing jui jistu
Great staff and environment at this academy, i was fresh into the Jui Jitsu world and they welcomed me with open arm’s!
I’ve been training BJJ for about 10 years and have been training at Form since 2019. I’ve made this place my home. Form BJJ is a friendly but competitive environment. We have a diverse group of BJJ practitioners of all shapes, sizes, and skill levels. We have many brand new white belts all the way up to high level black belt competitors and champions. There is something here for everyone. What sets Form apart from other BJJ academies is our curriculum and how it’s presented to us. Professor Rick has a unique way of breaking down advanced techniques in a way that everyone can understand. He’s not only has the knowledge he is good at transferring the knowledge to others in clear way. If you’re reading this review and looking to start your Ju-Jit-Su journey or if you are looking to fix the holes in your game come take a free class and experience it for yourself. You won’t be disappointed.
Training at Form Jiu Jitsu has exceeded all my expectations. The instructors are top-notch and the mat space is spacious and clean. What sets Form apart is the strong sense of community and supportive atmosphere. I can't say enough about the instructors. They are not only experts, but also passionate and patient. You also won't find better training partners regardless of age or skill level. I haven't felt like I've been part of a team in a long time, but Form has changed that. Whether you're a hobbyist looking to begin or an experienced competitor, I highly recommend checking out Form. The training and instruction is on another level.
I been coming to FORM since 2017 and I will not go anywhere else. I’ve been an Elite Tier Trainer for more the 10 years and I know perfect coaching and technique when I see it. Professor Rick was trained by the best in the business and it shows. He has a World Championship Title along with several other students!! It’s one thing to be a champion but to also coach at a high level says a lot. Don’t think it’s just for adults either, my 5 and 7 year old kids love it. So if you are searching for the right gym, fitness, technique or just a place to have fun you have found your spot!!!
I tried a couple of free trials at different gyms before finding Form Jiu Jitsu, the moment I walked into the gym and first met Owner/Professor Rick I knew this was where I wanted to start my training. There's world class instructors who've won IBJJF World Championships for those looking to learn from the best and want to get into the competition scene. For those who are looking to get into shape, every class is going to give you a workout. I lost around 30 pounds, starting at 230ish and hover around 198-205 right now. The gym is always clean, the people are awesome, it's a very family friendly environment. My little brother, his friend, and my little cousin all tried it and ended up liking it here so now we all train together. There's something for everyone whether you're an experienced grappler or new to the sport.
An outstanding gym, the environment is amazing and accepting to new people, I will definitely recommend this gym to anyone!
World class Jiujitsu instruction with competition proven results. Form has produced champions at the kids, adult and masters levels at regional, national and international competitions. Great sport for physical and mental wellbeing. Friendly and clean environment. Great academy regardless of whether your goal is to train as a hobby or as a serious competitor.
If you’re from the Baltimore area and looking to get into jiu-jitsu then Form Jiu Jitsu Academy is the place for you. Professor Rick is a world-class instructor and very easy to learn from. It is a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. Don’t look any further than Form Jiu Jitsu Academy. Once you come in for a trial class, you’ll be hooked like the rest of us!
I 've been training for over a decade in jiu-jitsu. Let me explain why this gym is special: The techniques, methods and mindset flow from a champion pedigree. The head instructor was promoted to black belt by Rafael and Guilherme Mendes from Art of Jitsu. The instructors and students have an incredible wealth of competition experience and accolades - including gold medals at IBJJF World Championship. I have never seen a kids program where the children have fun, stay engaged and build real skill to the degree I've seen here. The coaches take great pride and care in developing the base level skills - and confidence - to build complete little athletes. Very few people get the chance to experience something world class: this is truly a world class jiu jitsu academy. I highly recommend that you experience or expose your children to a class.
Tough rolls in a friendly environment! Very relevant and thorough instruction, a lot of good skill here. A great place for a drop in or just to give Jiu Jitsu a chance!
Having trained and several other academies in the area Form has become a second home and family. Professor Rick changed my whole outlook on the sport as well as the self defense aspect. I will always train and support Form as I truly believe they are the best.
Form Jiu Jitsu is an awesome spot for martial arts enthusiasts. The instructors here are top-notch, not only well-qualified but also super passionate about teaching. Their commitment is truly impressive. The vibe at Form Jiu Jitsu is super friendly and inviting, making it a great place for kids to learn and instantly feel at home. The owner is not only kind but also actively involved in the local community, showing that he genuinely cares about both his students and the neighborhood they're part of. Form Jiu Jitsu is more than just a gym; it's a place where expertise, friendliness, and community spirit all come together. After three years of my kids training here, I've seen an incredible change in them, both in terms of their physical abilities and their mindset. The fact that they love coming here says a lot about the positive impact it has had on them. It's clear that Form Jiu Jitsu is doing something really right, promoting not just physical growth but also nurturing their mental well-being.
I drive over an hour to come to this academy several times a week. Best gym in the DMV and it’s not even close. Rick knows what he’s doing and it shows in the success of his students in competition.
Thoughtful coaches! Beginner friendly. Highly recommend
Highly recommend training at Form no matter what skill level you are. This is an extremely uplifting community where everyone is treated with respect. The professors here are truly masters and so incredibly helpful. I started learning at age 33, I believe you’re never too old to learn and push yourself out of your comfort zone!
I tried multiple schools in the area before I settled on Form Jiu Jitsu. They have everything I was looking for: nice people, good coaching, plenty of fun rolls, a clean facility, and no weird contract terms. I'm happy to be training here. I'll add that it's one of the neatest martial arts spaces I've ever been to, just a little different than the typical locations you find a martial arts school. Here, you walk through the doorway and head to your right, down a concrete ramp. You take a left, walk past a caged area for the cross fit gym upstairs, then you see the space - exposed brick wall & raised white mats. To me, there's just something about that little walk and the aesthetics of the place that screams this is a place to get really good at BJJ.
Form Jiu Jitsu is the best academy I have come across. Professor Rick and the other instructors teach amazing techniques in a way that anyone can learn and adapt it to their personal style. I have personally seen huge growth in my confidence on and off the mats after training here for 2.5 years. Whether you are looking to get in better shape or learn a new skill, Form is the place for you.
I have a 9 year old son that’s been training @ Form Jiu Jitsu Academy for 4 years. The Form instructors do a great job making training fun for the kids while teaching them functional skills, developing coordination, discipline, and building confidence. No matter what your goal is or the goal for your child, to simply train or compete, Form caters to all. We are lucky to have such world-class instruction in our area, as Form has many world champions. I recently began training at Form as well and I have been impressed with the skills of their students and the way the instructors are able to break down high-level instruction so it’s easy to understand. It’s been great to train alongside my 9 year old son and humbling when he is able to give me pointers on my technique…and it works. If you are looking for world-class jiu jitsu training in the Baltimore area, for you or your child, than Form is the place for you.
Awesome place to learn Jiu Jitsu. I came in completely new to BJJ and everyone has been very welcoming and I've received great instruction.
Amazing. The perfect atmosphere for jujitsu. Tough rolls, but friendly environment. Rick is a fantastic instructor and is very welcoming. Overall great culture. Everyone is positive and has fun.
Best jiu jitsu in Baltimore by a long shot. Professor Rick and the other coaches attention to detail is top notch. They could coach anything! That’s enough, but on top of that the techniques taught are extremely effective and practical.
Competitive, High level, and welcoming. This is my full time gym and feel wonderful every time I exit. Professor Rick brings elite level instruction in both gi and no gi! Excellent training partners who build you up and get you better every day!
This is by far the best BJJ academy I've been to. Coaching/teaching is fantastic and you will definitely learn a lot. I strongly recommend it. Great environment and fantastic training partners. Rick, the owner and main coach, is very experienced, extremely approachable and teaches in an awesome and smart way. Brenda, Ryan and George (the other coaches) are also great and very welcoming. In summary, this place is amazing!
Awesome spot my kid loves it’s here Coach Brenda & Coach TJ are amazing!!! You feel like home here Coach Rick has an awesome thing going on here!!!
Best thing to have happened to my son since moving to Baltimore!
Great place with friendly people. I attended open mat and it was just what you would want on a Sunday morning. Good tough rolls with good folks.
Form is the best place to train in the area. I started training back in November, since then I’ve learned so much. Prior to this I never trained and had no idea what to expect. Being a former college athlete I missed competing and lifting took a toll on my body. Decided to try something new in jiu jitsu and I am hooked. The atmosphere is very welcoming and every person is willing to help you learn. Even people outside of the professors give you tips and help you get better. Not to mention this is an intense workout. Rick, George and Ryan are top notch professors. They explain everything extremely well and in detail. You learn the basic fundamentals and advanced moves, passes etc. Form let’s you learn from and train with the best, this includes world champs. Their knowledge collectively is tremendous. I’d recommend this to anyone. If you have been training before you get exposed to some of the best. If you are wanting to try something new, jump right in you won’t regret it.
I am a petite female who has never done a contact sport in my life - until February 2020, when my husband finally convinced me to try Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at Form where he had been practicing for over a year. I was super nervous and timid, thinking this sport can't possibly be for me - I'm one of the smallest people in the gym, even alongside the older kids! Thankfully there is a core group of about 4-5 other women who are there most of the time who have helped me TREMENDOUSLY. If you're a female, I highly recommend Form. The core male students are great rolling partners too, and the professors will help you avoid bad rolling partner matchups if someone asks you to roll who really shouldn't be asking you. We all watch out for each other at Form, and that's a community I can really get behind. The professors and students are world class. They practice what they preach, and are great at teaching techniques even to someone like me! I can't say it enough - joining this jiu jitsu community at Form has radically changed the last year of my life, and I won't stop. I can't. It's been so good for me, in so many ways. And now I help coach kids classes 3x a week! If you're on the fence about jiu jitsu, definitely check Form out! Come borrow a gi and do a free trial class. I'll see you there!
I’ve trained at BJJ gyms all over the world and this one stands out amongst all of them. World class instructors, great people and a spotless training environment. It feels less like a gym and more like a boutique studio. If you’re looking to train jiu-jitsu anywhere in Maryland, this is the place to do it.
A Professor surrounded by coaches so that your child can have both a team and individual take on the martial art experience. My shy son immediately developed a personal relationship with the staff. They were so welcoming and courteous towards his inexperience. For any parent seeking a team of expert level martial artist who also run a great program for your children, this is the place to join!
Excelente grupos pequeños muy personalizado y muy buenos instructores....
An awesome place to train! Very clean and welcoming gym. It feels like my home away from home. Professor Rick and Lee are world class instructors, who are guiding me step by step to reach my goals. I’ve trained at Form for about two years and never looked back. I highly recommend for both beginners and experienced Jiu-Jitsu practitioners.
I had the opportunity to train at Form for the past year and was truly impressed by the world-class instruction given by black belts Rick Slomba and Lee Rosenfield. The community is welcoming and has cultivated a positive, respectful, and clean environment to train. Whether you're a seasoned competitor looking to sharpen your game, or a beginner who wants to try jiu jitsu for the first time, you won't be disappointed by choosing Form.
Best place I ever trained at. Hands down.
Clean, welcoming environment, family atmosphere, top notch instruction. Best gym to learn and train Jiu jitsu in Baltimore.
If you know anything about Jiu Jitsu you come here if you're in Baltimore.
So your new to jiujitsu and looking for a gym. Then you investigate the prices to save a dollar. Well they are all about the same price when you factor the uniform in. So what do you do? Look at the gym trainers, how fit do they look. Look at their achievements in sport jiujitsu. And investigate their FB and Instagram. Then get off the couch and go in. About Form Jujitsu, they have world champions in this gym, again "world" champions. I trained here for 2 months and got white belt nogi gold at my first competition. Also the mats are super clean, and the jiujitsu culture is well structured, so its great for kids training as well. The professors here care about your progress and are legit cool. There will always be an instructor to teach. They never take time off from training. Don't let penny wise and pound foolish be a thing. Update I received my blue belt at Form then moved due to work. I’ve been to a number of other top tier gyms around the world now. Still, the training was never better than what I received at Form. If your going to Form feel blessed as it is truly a temple of Jiujitsu.
Couldn’t ask for a better training environment. Awesome instructors, classmates, and location. I would recommend Form to anyone, regardless of skill level or athletic ability.
Bright, clean, and welcoming! Form Jiu Jitsu is the best in the area with amazing instruction and has a well formatted class structure. It is a great place for first timers/beginners or for those looking to continue their jiu jitsu journey to really hone their skills-- Whether you are looking to really perfect your practice or get a good sweat going, at From you'll get both! The professors have trained with the best in the world and I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from these guys!!
I've known professor Rick for years and to know his story is truly inspiring. Professor Rick is a world class athlete and a top notch instructor. If you're looking for a place to train Form Jiu-jitsu is the place to be.
Top notch instructors black belted under AOJ. They are devoted to the art and teaching. FORM JJ ACADEMY teaches bjj, discipline and how to carry yourself on and off the mat.. OSSS..... PS the cleanest facility I have ever trained at ...
Professors Rick and Lee really do a great job at creating an inclusive learning environment for all students while still maintaining a respectable amount of competitiveness in their classes. As someone new to the practice of Jiu Jitsu, I can testify that I’ve made tremendous strides in my short time with Form that would only be possible with the highest quality professors. Anyone in the DMV area should, at the very least, stop in for some rolls.
I am a beginner so I took the beginners class with professor Lee . Professor Lee teaches in a step by step manner. He also provided different perspectives / variations at each step. Overall Jiu Jitsu teaches one to thwart an attack by bringing their opponent / attacker off-balance, into a vulnerable position. I highly recommend Form for their welcoming and educational environment.
My daughter has been training since September and absolutely loves it. Rick, her instructor, is patient and so knowledgable not only about jiu jitsu but how to teach it. It is a clean and welcoming environment!!
Clean, friendly, welcoming environment. Professor Rick is a world class instructor and has the ability to teach in a way that all skill levels will understand. The other students make everyone feel welcome and part of the family from the moment you walk in.
A++++++ training environment!! Prof. Rick has helped me trenmendously since Form opened up, I recommend this gym to anyone in the area looking to start Brazilian jiu jitsu to get in shape, for fun, or to change things up in your own training.
I dropped in here for a class while traveling for work. Rick and Isis were very welcoming. The class structure was really fun and i had great rolls. I will be back when I visit Baltimore again.
I met Rick a few years ago training Jiujitsu. He's a great instructor and a great friend. He competes at the highest level with the utmost integrity. I would recommend anyone in the area to train here.
World class instruction from a high level world champion. You no longer need to fly out to Cali to find this type of high level training. Prof Rick also ran the worlds best kids program during his time in Cali so your kids will enter a fun atmosphere that they can feel safe!
