I have trained at this dojo for over 20 years. Dojo is a friendly community with a welcoming and non-threatening atmosphere for men and women. The instructors are top notch, skilled and good at teaching- all with decades of experience. Learning the art itself is a fascinating experience- it is brutally effective, smart, very cool, and one that has endless levels of mastery, both physical and mental.

I have had the pleasure of training with the leadership of Discovery Martial Arts for the last 10 years or more. Not only are they incredibly knowledgeable, but they clearly love what they do, and it comes through in every class they teach. No matter if you are looking for practical self defense, classical martial knowledge, or even weapons training, this is the place I would go to.

Discovery Martial Arts is a great school to learn a traditional and functional martial arts style. You get a good blend of classical forms and concepts and a more modern contemporary take on the same classical topics. Mark and Zach are a perfect mix of the two and work very well together. The community in the dojo is great. Very friendly and welcoming.

Discovery Martial Arts, what a place to learn and train. First of all, I envy all who can just drive to the dojo and train there every week. This year, I managed to have two long-weekend air-travel trips from Phoenix, Arizona to train at the dojo. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one. On my most recent trip, I met another visiting student traveled from Nebraska. If anyone wonders the motivations for a long distance student like me, just go check it out yourself. You will find superb instructors and fellow students at Discovery Martial Arts ready to explore martial art together.

I live in Boston and attended a workshop with Discovery Martial Arts in October 2023 that was simply superb! It was very well organized and the teachers demonstrated excellent technique and fascinating martial arts principles. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming, too. I will definitely continue taking part in their events and seminars!

This is the best place and overall experience I have ever had in martial arts. A very effective self-defense art, taught by people who genuinely care about you and want to get to know you as a person, not just as a martial artist. Advanced students help out the less advanced students and do so without making fun of them. I have never been happier studying martial arts. I wish that everyone could have an experience like this.

My son has been a student of To Shin Do since he was 5yrs old in Nebraska. He has traveled to many of the other clubs for more training and to Maine in 2023. He gains something more with every event or training opportunity and the new people he meets. I thank the club in Maine for having him in 2023.

This is an update of a review I wrote almost two years or so ago. So two years later, I can say with that experience that DMA is a unique and one-of-a kind martial arts training facility. Many of the students have themselves been studying there for five and ten years and more. The instructors are totally devoted to helping all student learn. From all of this my approach to martial arts has changed in so many ways for the better. I’ve reaped benefits that come from listening to and hearing senior practitioners explain their approach to ninjutsu. Really, I couldn’t say enough about DMA much less get it all into words. Yes, DMA is THAT good!

I have trained in multiple styles over my life, Chinese, Korean and Japanese, all were different, and all fantastic. That said, I have been blown away by the quality of the art and teaching at Discovery, but equally important, the "feel" of the school. it is inclusive and focused on making everyone feel comfortable, irrespective of past experience. Discovery teaches techniques that work, and tailors them to the individual while be true to the lineage. This has been and will continue to be the last dojo I plan to train at, as I have no reason to look for another.

If you are looking for a place to learn real, applicable self-defense techniques that don't over rely on speed and strength, this is your place. I have been a part of Discovery Martial Arts for about 7 years now and I have learned an incredible amount while feeling a part of an amazing community. I have previously trained in Karate, BJJ, and Krav and this maintains my favorite art due to its ability to encompass all aspects of fighting. The instructors here are incredibly skilled and able to break down complex movements in a way that everyone can grasp. Whether you want to become a fast, strong and effective fighter or simply want to learn techniques to keep you safe at night... this is the place for you.

I have been training here for 3 years and I have never had such a great experience. Discovery Martial Arts offers some of the best tutelage from some of the best martial artists in the state. This modern take on ninjutsu is practical and effective. All it takes is one class to see how much they have to offer!

We love it there. .. my son Noah has been going there for a year now, the best decision I have made as a parent was to allow him to go to this wonderful place. I have seen my shy young man become more confident more sure of himself he loves it there. I can honestly say as a parent that was on the fence didn't want her baby to grow up I made the right decision by letting him go there. I would recommend it to anybody the staff is Simply Amazing.
