The vibes in there are immaculate—everyone is so nice, and there’s honestly no judgment. The coaches respect all different backgrounds of martial arts, and they always have a positive attitude. I can’t recommend this place enough!

I signed my grandson up about 3-4 weeks ago. Since he's been in these classes his focus has gotten better, he listens better (not that I had an issue with that before), but he's doing so much better overall. I can see him building the confidence in himself to do the things in life that he chooses to do. As for the staff at Cosens, they're great! They make class fun while learning. I would highly recommend them if this is something you're looking to do.

This is an amazing place. My Great Granddaughter, Freya Pastula, has been training under Coach Spy for 3 years and just earned her junior black belt. She has learned so much in addition to self protection, humility, dedication and respect; she will be continuing her training for the next level black belt. This is so important, given the state of our country during these trying times. Our children need to be able to defend themselves and know who to trust and not to trust. Coach Spy goes over all of the above with every class and, if one of his students is having a hard time they know they can go to him and he will work with them. He does NOT support bullying from, or to, any of his students!!

My Granddaughter Freya has been in this program for 3 years. She earned her Jr. Blackbelt in that time, and has chosen to continue on to get her solid Blackbelt. Coach Spy and Coach Garcia are the best coaches. They do not just hand out belts and awards, they must be earned. I respect that because it teaches accountability. Her confidence has soared, she's made good friends and she adores her coaches. She has really become very confident and sure of herself, and this class has been nothing but great for her. Im so excited to see what the next 3 years holds for her.

Going to Cosens has been, hands down, one of the best decisions I’ve made. Both of my coaches are so amazing and have wonderful attitudes towards each and every student. Since I have started taking classes here, I have found myself able to be more relaxed mentally and physically. It has helped me step away from my self destructive tendencies, and focus in on self improvement. It’s a wonderful workout for your body and mind, and it has personally helped me relieve stress and frustration in a positive manner. Self control, discipline, and awareness are just a few of the things I have been able to improve on since starting. If you have even the slightest interest in trying this out, give it a shot!

Coaches Spyhalski, Gator, & Garcia are fabulous. My son started at age 11 in the older children’s class and transitioned to the teen/adult class. The instructors are knowledgeable and encouraging. The children are taught positive values, martial arts skills, teamwork, & discipline. The teen/adult class is a welcoming environment. His classmates work together cohesively to learn. OMG I can't believe I haven't done this sooner! Each year I like to challenge myself to learn something new. I definitely stepped outside of my comfort zone joining the MMA class. I was pleasantly surprised to see all ages and skill levels, that helped with feeling less self conscious as a newbie. And the coaches are A-MAZING!! They are very patient and encouraging and you can tell they really enjoy teaching. I had a chance to witness my first belt testing and it really was inspiring. They took the time to speak to each student letting them know where they excelled, where improvement was needed, but how awesome they were and to keep working, never giving up. After each class, as I learn something new, I walk away feeling so empowered...what a great feeling!! It's great exercise and an even better stress reliever. If you've ever thought of trying martial arts or have children that are interested, then Cosens Saginaw is definitely a great place!!

Yes I had my grandson enrolled at Cosens martial Arts because he was starting to get bullied on the school bus and at school although he is a big kid for age he just isn't aggressive if he needs to be for protecting his self plus I think a lot of if comes from the fact that he was also abused by his step mother but I am really pleased at how much he is coming along he really loves it there the instructor is very professional and good with the kids of all ages from what I see really great place to take jujitsu lessons!!!

Impression after 30 days. The program has helped with my son's self confidence, focus and coordination. The instructors keep it fun and fast moving. I was not sure how he would do at 5, but they have set up a program that teaches a life lesson in a fun and uplifting way plus all the kicks and punches. Bonus: the instructors make a point to know every kid's name and keep it positive and safe. We had a chance to take a free trial class they had on Facebook with no obligation and my son was hooked. I have been impressed with how good and genuine the staff have been since day one.

Both on my children attend Cosens Martial Arts. My daughter is in the tiny ninja's class and my son in the adult MMA class. They both have grown exponentially over this past year of attendance. My daughter started this program when she had turned 3 yrs old prior to attending pre-school. It helped prepare her for school and she was able to excel. I Love this place! My son deals with really bad ADHD, and keeping him engaged can at times be difficult. Coach Spy does an awesome job with being patient and understanding. I enjoy watching my sons class. Not only has my son been learning how to defend himself, but also learning life skills, and keeping him accountable for his actions in life and at school. I’ve witnessed that for Coach Spy, safety is always a #1 goal. Coach Spy is always willing to listen and help in anyway he can for the families that attend his school. He has made some great friends and has been learning about respect, self discipline, and many other positive aspects to relate to the real world on how to defend himself if ever needed. When we first started Nov 2020, he was very timid and wasn't sure about himself, but coach Spy has helped him have more self confidence in himself. Coach is always willing to go that extra mile when needed. We appreciate all he does for our now junior purple belt working for that black belt. Only thing I would love to see is a bigger building for all these great kids to continue to learn in. It's hard in this building to be able to find a seat some times and only standing room where there's not much of that either.

All three of my children attend Cosens Martial Arts with Coach Spy and have for over a year now. Two out of three are in the Black Belt Program. We had previously been to Seung-ni Fit Club. We left because we did not feel it was the right fit for teaching our kids all-round life skills along side their mixed martial arts techniques. Upon coming to Cosens we now feel confident that this is a REAL martial arts program that not only teaches mixed martial arts techniques but ALSO life skills and accountability. These kids work HARD for their belts. They don't just take your money and move the kids up the ranks. They EXPECT each student to do his or her part. I have two boys and one girl in this program all 9 and under. This program has been a game changer for each of them. Best money I ever spent. They have grown in their maturity, responsibilities and truly finding a sense of who they are. Coach Spy does more than coach them, he mentors them. What happens outside of class is just as important and plays a significant role for their success in class. The kids have forms that their teachers have to fill out and sign to turn in and they must be meeting expectations at school in order to proceed to their next belt. They have monthly homework worksheets on accountability, honesty, and responsibility, driving home the importance of becoming a good human in all aspects of life. If you are looking for an extracurricular activity that will change the trajectory of your child's future and set them up for the best possible success, join Cosens Martial Arts. And I am here to tell you, not all Martial Arts schools are created equally. Be careful who you trust with your children. It's been well over a year and all my kids still LOVE going to karate class!

I can't say enough great things about Cosens MMA. I first saw an event on Facebook in September for a martial arts class focused on concentration. My daughter struggles with focus and had asked me to sign her up for some kind of martial arts so this seemed perfect. I was amazed at how life skills were presented along with the martial arts. This is exactly what we needed! I signed her up for basic training that day! She has done so well and excelled that for Christmas I upgraded her to the black belt training program and she has already tested and received her 2nd belt! I only took a small (free) introduction class, however the instructor was very informative and respectful. Answered all my questions and showed me a few things I didn't know.

Our son, 6, began martial arts at Cosens Saginaw several weeks ago. The transition to fully participating in the class has been a challenge, but Coach Spy has been incredibly positive and encouraging, and he has been open to creative solutions for our son to be a part of things as he works up to full participation with the whole group. Our son really likes Coach Spy. The kids have fun, learn life skills, how to control their bodies through martial arts, and much more. I would recommend Cosens for any parent who wants to build up their children in confidence and focus.

My daughter is 5 and loves going to Martial Arts class at Cosens. Coach Spy is excellent with the children. The children are given lessons on subjects like respect and self-discipline during each session and are given individual attention when necessary without making them feel embarrassed or singled out. He really seems to find a way to connect with them in a fun and engaging way. Many of his lessons apply to home life outside of the classroom which help build good values and confidence. This class is not all about throwing punches, but about promoting being a good person living a healthy lifestyle, capable of defending yourself if you have to.

Cosens is a great place for anyone looking to get involved with MMA. They have classes for all ages! My boyfriend and our son are both attending classes here and really enjoy it. I have seen my son’s self confidence, self discipline, and sense of achievement soar since he began going here, and he’s doing better in school!! The coaches at Cosens are great and genuinely concerned with all of their students on and off the mat. I highly recommend them!

Beware of this place if your child is on disability and your on a limited income. They will pull you in with the promise of being able to help you when your struggling to pay, after you tell them that your on a limited income. Just to find out it is only one month of assistance. And they charge you anyways, even if you pull your child out. My account was over drafted a month after my 3 months ended and when i reached out. I was told something entirely different then when i first enrolled. They said they would look into it and call me back. I have not heard from anyone and have also sent several emails. With no response. This company is greedy and thanks to them. Our first experience will also be our last. They proved to me that these programs only care about the money. Not the children they are teaching.
