Preface this by saying: I’ve trained at a lot of gyms. More than 20 if I could remember them all. Leisure travel I always bring my BJJ gear and for work I do the same. This gym is the ONE. THE INSTRUCTION was top tier. I attended no Gi class with one of the instructors (no clue of his rank) but his details and instruction were a black belt level. I attended a Gi class and it was from the owner and black belt and I was blown away. The gym culture was excellent. Black belts, brown belts, purple belts and blue belts were all down to roll. Highly recommend!

Great instructors and staff that are obviously passionate about Jui-Jitsu. My son and I felt welcomed to the team from the very first time we walked in the door. If you have ever had a thought about trying Jui-Jitsu (or any combat sport), I highly recommend Combative Sports Center.

This goes for the kickboxing classes only because its the only class I went to. The instructor was a nice enough guy, and he clearly knew what he was doing. His lessons were good, and his material was overall well researched. However, it seems like he can't control his students. The overall environment was very "highschool" like and it felt like you had to fit into certain cliques if you wanted to learn anything sparring. Speaking of sparring, some of the students (specifically the more experienced students) clearly don't know the difference between sparring and brawling, and it can be quite easy to get a lot of head trauma (which is not good if you have to pay for your own medical bills). I had a student who was supposed to be a senior member throw very intentionally damaging straights to the nose until I started bleeding just because I was basing up with my leg just as I was taught in the class. He could have addressed my mistake respectfully and without the bully behavior rather than his "correction". Then in the same class that same senior student and another senior student ignored the instructor as he was addressing the students and talked and laughed very loudly to the point that I had a hard time hearing the instructor. There was also another student that refused to spar with me for seemingly no reason but I got the feeling that he just felt like I wasn't good enough to spar. I want to note that I was trying to be as respectful as I could be when being a new student here, but I simply just felt like I didn't belong and not much effort was made to address that. Getting to the point, the material is good, the training is good, but when it came to the live sparring you might find yourself with some unnecessary injuries from some of the more ignorant students that go to the kickboxing class. I want to leave this place a good review, but I simply don't think injuring your brain while just sparring is a good idea.

Next door to "Locked." At the free trial week, we tried the Tues/Thurs 5:30pm Advanced kids Jiu Jitsu class, Mon/Wed 5:15pm Kids class. Very professional and I highly recommend this place. 20% discount on a second family member with autopay.

Absolutely fantastic gym. Great location in the heart of a vibrant, college town. Welcoming to visitors with no pretense or ego. I had a great time training there while visiting Manhattan for work and bought some schwag to support them and represent when I'm back home. Just keep in mind that with a college and a military base nearby (and in the middle of the Wheat State) these guys and gals are strong! Lots of wrestlers and soldiers to pit yourself against. Can't wait for my next trip to the area.
