Checkmat Murrieta is a world class option for learning the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Professor Pantcho is part of one of the best BJJ lineages in the game and provides an exceptional environment for all levels of the sport. If you have a goal of winning in an IBJJF event, if you are a casual practitioner / hobbyist, or if you have never experienced BJJ before in your life... Checkmat Murrieta is the best and most welcoming place for you to train. The academy is clean, there is plenty of mat space, and every time I have visited I have been welcomed by everyone. Good vibes all around. Thank you for the hospitality!
True lineage , legit professors & FAMILY values. Checkmat Murrieta is the perfect place to start your journey. I walked in not knowing what to expect, but it became a huge part of me and my family’s life. Professor Ricardo Feliciano is a legend in the game and his team of coaches are all highly talented. Great for kids and adults !
My daughter is enrolled in their classes and loves it! The instructors are great with the kids and they all have an amazing time, learn lots, build confidence, and best of all... she is tired and goes to bed super easy on the nights she has BJJ.
From the first day I walked in for a trial class, I finally found a family outside of my home family. It’s been a while since I really felt apart of something that gave me meaning in life. I’m glad I made the decision to start. I found a healthy outlet and reconnected with my love of martial arts
Great place to train BJJ, they have the best professors. Pantcho is a 4th degree black belt and professor Phil is a 1st degree black belt. The kids class is awesome and is taught by so many black belts. Great environment and is very clean. If you want to train to lose weight or just to get ready to compete this is the place.
Finding a place that feels like family isn't easy, but Checkmat has become exactly that for me. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and hospitality that made me feel instantly at ease. The atmosphere exudes a sense of belonging, making it more than just a gym – it's a second home. The people here are what truly make this place special. The camaraderie among fellow practitioners and instructors creates a supportive environment where everyone is invested in each other's growth. Whether you're a beginner or experienced, you'll find yourself welcomed with open arms and treated like part of the family. As for the jiu jitsu training, it's top-notch. The quality of instruction and attention to detail ensure that you're not just going through the motions, but truly learning and improving. What sets this place apart is that you never feel out of place, regardless of your skill level. There's a sense of inclusivity and encouragement that permeates every class, motivating you to push yourself and reach new heights. In summary, Checkmat isn't just a jiu jitsu gym – it's a community, a sanctuary, and a second home. If you're looking for a place where you can train with quality, feel welcomed, and become part of something greater, look no further.
Been training with pantcho since 2012 and never once have I had a bad experience! He keeps me engaged and learning new things everyday while staying in shape
CheckMat is a wonderful gym; the instruction is top-notch and the atmosphere feels like family; whether you are a competitor or hobbyist this is the place to be.
Top notch training me and the family have been training with Pantcho and his staff since 2016. Wide variety of experience never disappointed.
The Best Jiu Jitsu spot in around this area I’ve been with pantcho for 15 years and all this amazing coaches that I call family
This is undoubtedly the best gym in the valley. With a plethora of black belts, who are eager to share their knowledge and the owner and head instructor Patcho Who is a4degree black belt. This is a special place filled with special people who go out of their way to help each other and have created a community. That is second to none.
Great place to train, excellent Professor, great vibe ,best place to train in the area.
The best Brazilian jiu jitsu academy in Murrieta! CHECKMAT MURRIETA Great black belt coaches! 🥋🥋🥋 NICE PLACE FOR EVERYONE! 🤩
Thank you Professor Pantcho for all your help and support. You and your team provide great instruction as well as enthusiasm in each class. The adult and kids classes are always fun to attend for me and my son. We look forward to each class!
great experience and learning skills for the kids
Great professors. Laid back gym. I drive almost an hr to come here and train.
Owner and staff are great with our kids, who are brand new to the sport of Jujitsu. Definitely recommend to families as an extra curricular activity for their kids. If my schedule permitted, they'd be here every day. Update year and a half later. Still a great place. Very busy these days. Only my eldest continues to attend as it helps to hone his competitive nature.
Checkmat Murrieta is a second home to my husband and daughter. Kids and adults alike benefit from the work Ricardo and the Checkmat Murrieta team do for their students. ❤️
Checkmat Murrieta is a great place for all levels. They have beginner classes, kids classes, womens classes, all level BJJ classes, fundemental classes, and No-Gi classes. 3rd Degree Black belt Pantcho is the head coach. He has selected an amazing team of coaches that assist in teaching and assist teammates during class with technique. Pantcho has taught us skills we love, supported us through our journey, and has invited us into a strong jiu jitsu family. I'm honored to roll with these mat ninjas and blessed for the women I have met through this sport. If you feel nervous about taking that first step into checking jiu jitsu out, silence that voice and do it! You'll thank yourself once you get a taste of what's going on at this gym. Free trials available!
Great gym that is clean and huge. Most places don't even have half the mats as checkmat Murrieta. Excellent layout with plenty of seating for parents. Great instructors that are top notch and patient with kids. Students from this gym do well at competitions which is a testament to the coaches and gym.
Great for the entire family. Good vibes all around and excellent instruction for those looking to advance their Jiu Jitsu. Awesome staff. Have been there for 2+ years now and my oldest son has also trained there.
This place is great. My son loves it here. The staff is so friendly
Best dojo hands down, Professor Pantcho and everyone there is like family... I Love this place and I wish, I could give more stars. BJJ will change your life, give it a try.
We love Checkmat Murrieta!!!! It is a fun and friendly gym environment that teaches our kids patience, humility, and confidence through jiu jitsu. I am so happy to be apart of the this family. ...And the coaches are absolutely amazing!!!
The feel here was electric!! The owner was super cool easy to talk to! All levels of experience we're here!, all willing to help, every body was there to learn ...not prove themselves, great time! Can't wait to go back and train!
Greatest decision I have ever made was signing up here at Checkmat Murrieta! Professor Pantcho is a master and coach Richard in the Striking class is an incredible teacher. Wish I could give more stars, love this place and everyone there.
I had thought about taking some time away from Jiu Jitsu before I arrived here for a week whilst on holiday and preparing for competition. The warmth, benevolence and skill of the family at Checkmat Murrieta have changed my mind. As a visitor I was overwhelmed by the friendliness I received, such a positive experience. Thank you Pantcho, Phil and the rest of the team for the great rolls and Instruction. Kris UK.
My son, Renzo, has been coming to Checkmat for about 9 months. At the beginning, it was a bit difficult for him as he would get frustrated quickly when he didn’t understand what was being instructed. Pantcho and all the instructors have been understanding, encouraging and motivating for Renzo. I have seen a great change in him and he just loves coming. Great people here at Checkmat! One of the best decisions made to place Renzo here.
This is one of the better schools I've been to. I used to work for FloGrappling and have met and trained with black belts from all over. I travel a lot and have visited dozens of different schools around the country. Pantcho is an awesome coach and just an all around great guy. Pantcho is one of the most loveable guys you'll ever meet in jiu-jitsu. His instructors are top-notch and are great with beginners and kids. You'll feel right at home here. I unfortunately moved again but plan on making it out to the open mats when I can. Thanks Pantcho for being awesome. Hope to train together again soon!
My experience here at Chekmat has been magnificent! Professor Pantcho is extremely passionate about his students and Brazilian JiuJitsu. His humble attitude saturates the atmosphere, and makes for a fun training environment. ..... If your looking for a BJJ school with an authentic Brazilian Vibe, come train with Chekmat Murrieta!
I have been training Jiu Jitsu off and on (with some big breaks in time off) for nearly 20 years. I have relocated for work many times and have trained all over the country. With that being said I was so glad I found Checkmat Murrieta and started training under Pantcho. I received my brown belt from him and I could not be prouder to represent him, his team and Checkmat. The entire gym although made up of killers on the mat has been welcoming and friendly since day one when I stepped on the mats with them. This is truly a school with no egos, just a bunch of dedicated Jiu Jitsu practitioners of all levels. Pantcho is a phenomenal teacher with a technical knowledge well above most I have trained with in the past. He is completely dedicated to his students and gives himself fully to support everyone in their journey, whether they are an avid competitor or just looking to stay fit and learn the art. My son who is 6 trains in his kids program and loves working with Pantcho and his coaches.
If your looking for a place to train in the inland empire Checkmat Murrieta is the place to go. Pantcho is a awesome instructor and gives the gym a great vibe every time he’s on the mat coaching.
My daughter has been training with Professor Pantcho for 7 years now and she loves it. Training BJJ with her Checkmat family has been a wonderful experience for her.She started jiujitsu at the age of 7 and is now 14 years old and thanks to Professor Pantcho she has built confidence in herself. Thank you Pantcho for all that you do for your students!!!
Been with Pantcho for years now and hands down the best coach and team in the IE. Checkmat Murrieta fits everyone's jiu jitsu needs. I highly recommend it.
Checkmat is very a very welcoming and friendly environment! Since the first day of class I’ve had nothing but good times and have improved my BJJ game tremendously. Pantcho is an excellent coach and everyone I’ve trained and rolled with at the gym is always more than willing to help me improve my technique. I highly recommend this gym.
I highly recommend Checkmat Murrieta. I trained for 5+ years at two schools in San Diego but after taking a number of years off and moving to Murrieta, I was apprehensive about getting back into jiu jitsu. Luckily, I found the Checkmat team a year and a half ago and have been blessed to receive world class instruction, train with an incredible group of people, and even start competing again. I wish I would have joined sooner! CheckMat Murrieta’s kids program is amazing and I can’t wait until my kids are old enough to begin their jiu jitsu journey.
Love Checkmat BJJ Murrieta!! You do not just join a team or a gym you are part of something bigger you are part of a family and that is how you will always be treated like family!!!
The team at Checkmat Murrieta is like a second family to me. I started training with this team about 4+ years ago and have been here ever since. Ricardo "Pantcho" Feliciano is absolutely amazing. If you want to learn from the best and train with the best look no further then Checkmat Murrieta.
Pantcho is one of a kind instructor. His kids classes are so informative and help boost the self esteem of all the kids. Thanks Pantcho!
I came from a different gym, skeptical about switching instructors. As a blue belt, this was the best decision I could have ever made. Not only do you get to join all the benefits of becoming a Checkmat team member but you get one of their best instructors. You also get top notch training from your teammates that immediately become like family. I received my purple and then my brown belt under Pancho but I also received 5 competition medals. I have done more in this sport than I could have ever imagined due to the environment this gym provides.
I’ve been a student of Pantcho for about 8 years. My average weight is down about 20lbs without much diet change. My children have also been his students from 3rd grade all the way to high school. We consider him, his wife and child family because he cares so much more than just what you do on the mat. Go see him!
Outstanding CheckMat Murrieta to practice Jiu-Jitsu Ricardo Pantcho FELICIANO has been my instructor sine I started as a While Belt and still is as a Black Belt which is 10 years plus. I am very proud to achieve what I have and I owe it to Pantcho as my coach and professor at Jiu-Jitsu I stated at the age of 49 now at 60 years old I can still feel very proud to train with Pantcho.
Professor Pantcho is THE best Jiu Jitsu coach around! He teaches all levels of Jiu Jitsu. He's great with kids and adults. He not only teaches all levels, he teaches top competitors and competes at the highest levels. It's hard to find a great Jiu Jitsu Professor, it's even more rare to find a professor that is champion in the highest competitions. His passion for Jiu Jitsu is contagious and once you see his students having fun while learning on the mats, you'll understand and want to join our Checkmat Murrieta family. Stop in and say hi. I recommend CheckMat Murrieta and more specifically Professor Pantcho if you are thinking of starting your Jiu Jitsu journey.
I'm a blackbelt under Ricardo Feliciano and have been training under him for the last 6 years. Chackmat is the best jiujitsu school in inland empire. If you're looking for a great school with a awesome coach with a world championship pedigree checkmat murrieta is the place.

Top level Jiu Jitsu from one of the best Jiu Jitsu teams in the world. Professor Ricardo Pantcho Feliciano and his coaches are top notch. The amount of time and energy he puts into his students and program is second to none. I've been a part of this team for 4 years and would recommend it to anyone.
I have been a part of Checkmat for the last 10 years! It has been a source of joy and stability in my life! The friendships I have developed here are amazing, my teammates are like my brothers and sisters. The instruction here is world class and checkmat has developed over 50 world champions in jiu jitsu! I have been fortunate to grow here and even teach alongside Pantcho the head instructor who also is a world champion.
