Ryan was a really good instructor. First time coming in, and he was able to dumb it down for me. Everyone was inviting and respectful. It's a really good gym to start off with.

My 6 year old son has been attending Gracie Jiu-Jitsu since May of this year and we love it! He’s excelled and was moved up from the 4-6 yo group to the 7-9 yo group. He’s learned discipline, respect and how to defend himself. He’s a quiet kid and bullying is a concern but I feel so much more confident that he’ll be able to stand up for himself. I also love that they incentivize the kids to have good behavior and character both on and off the mat!

My youngest daughter has been training at Charles Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Elk Grove since March 2024. My oldest daughter was timid about joining at first but after watching her sister attend classes for a few months she was ready to join. This is a testament to how positive and encouraging the coaches are. Coach Ryan and Coach Mark are so great! They make sure everyone is learning and improving their skills in each class. I love the perfect balance between focus and fun. My girls have learned so much and their confidence has grown immensely. I cannot recommend them enough, they are the best!

It’s been over a year since my son has been attending classes here & I can see many positive changes in him. I love how easy going and how accommodating the coaches are, and they work so well with my son. My son really enjoys the interactions he gets on the mat with his classmates and coaches. I highly recommend bringing your child here or even yourself.

Coaches are great with my little one. He is always excited to come to learn! It’s a bummer we can’t be in the room while they are learning, but I understand it’s for the benefit of the kiddos not getting distracted.

Gracie Jui-Jitsu in Elk Grove has met all my expectations so far. My 6 year old daughter is loving the 4 to 6 year old class she goes to twice a week. The owners seem knowledgeable and treat all of the students with equal respect. I can't wait to see what my daughter will be able to accomplish here:)

This is my daughter's first experience with jiu-jitsu. We started shortly after opening and she fell in love. The coaches are all amazing and so dedicated. There is such a good mix of kids boys and girls it's great. My daughter has gained so much confidence and discipline it's the best investment in her future I have made thus far. Take a trial class give it a try I know the kiddos will love it

Both of my daughters ages 8 and 11 have been going to Charles Gracie Elk Grove for 1 year now and they absolutely love it. My 11 year old was attending another gym for several years but due to COVID the classes were no longer available and this was my 8 year olds first time trying Jiu-Jitsu. I love how the coaches interact with the kids and their instruction style. My girls look forward to going to Jiu-Jitsu and we are so glad Gracie Jiu-Jitsu has come to Elk Grove. Shout out to Coach Ryan!!

We have been taking our 6 and 9 yr old twice a week for a year now and we have only positive things to say about Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Coach Ryan and Coach Mark are amazing with the kids. My son Carter has been going here for 2 months and he absolutely loves it. It is a great way to burn off extra energy, meet other kids, learn self defense, and build self confidence. The coaches are great and really build a relationship with your child. They are worth every penny.

My kids have been going there for a year and they love it! It's clean and inviting and the coaches always know how to make it fun and keep the kids engaged. It feels like a good balnce between having fun and learning discipline. My sister and her children also go there and they are learning a lot of self defense moves. Our family is very happy and we highly recommend it!

This is probably the most positive experience I have ever had in doing something that's different from my normal workouts I have ever done. It has help me develop different skills for self defense, discipline, and mental focus. My strength in feeling confident and motivated has grown. Not to mention Coach Ryan and coach Mark who are there to keep us motivated and engaged in class. It's a very family friendly place for all ages. My kids also go there and they love it. They do not like missing any days !

As a woman that is new to Brazilian jiu jitsu, I highly recommend Charles Gracie Elk Grove. Coach Ryan and students are extremely friendly, making it a comfortable environment. I was impressed with how clean it is too! Not only is it a great sweat, it is a great way to learn how to stay calm in uncomfortable situations and learn self defense.

I started to take Jiu Jitsu for the self-Defense aspect, but I ended up loving it and signed up quickly after. Coach Ryan does great with kids keeping them focused and engaged when learning technique and still allowing the children to have fun. I also had a great experience learning from him in the adult class! The class is a great way to work out as well! Being new to Jiu Jitsu the staff did such a great job on guiding me with the moves that we were learning. Charles Gracie in Elk Grove had great atmosphere with great people and was also very clean! So whether you’re looking to learning something new or wanting to continue your skill this is the place to do it!

Great environment with even better staff. Very clean mats/changing rooms/bathrooms. It’s also very apparent that the coaches preach good hygiene to their students as everyone there is downy fresh.

I began learning Jiu Jitsu for the first time ever from the Charles Gracie Jiu Jitsu Academy in Elk Grove a month ago and it’s been an amazing experience so far. The coaches and students are incredibly welcoming, every one gets along well together, the place is extremely sanitary, and it’s an open environment that embraces individuality. I got into Jiu Jitsu mainly to learn self defense so if you’re interested in that as well you’re definitely going to find it here. Also, as a women, it’s empowering to know I am being equipped with life saving skills to defend myself from any unfavorable situations I may find myself in. The academy offers a free class for you to join in before you decide if you want to commit. I took their introductory class and although they were not pressuring me to commit what so ever, after the class was over, I knew I was hooked. In the month that I’ve been attending classes, I’ve been able to gain more trust and confidence in myself. In addition, I’ve gained a community that supports and encourages everyone to grow and excel. I’m so glad I discovered Jiu Jitsu when I did and I’m looking forward to uncovering how much more potential I can unlock if I stay consistent. Thank you to Coach Ryan, Coach Mark, and Riury Gracie for the phenomenal instruction they provide our classes!!

I have only positive things to say about this academy. My somewhat shy, introverted daughter was hesitant to try jiu-jitsu, and then loved it from the first class! Coach Ryan, and the other coaches, are amazing with the kids -- very patient, positive and fun. I also really appreciate how clean they keep the mat and the studio. If you're considering checking this place out, you won't regret it!

Highly recommend training at this gym! My daughter and I were visiting from Alaska and were welcomed with open arms. Head coach Ryan was very professional and technical on the way he taught techniques. Also the gym was very clean and maintained for optimum training. For sure one of the best BJJ gyms I’ve been to and a great representation of the Charles Gracie Academy.

From the moment I saw the Charles Gracie Jiu Jitsu sign going up, I knew I wanted to try something new. 4 months later, I train every chance I get. From the professionalism and patience of the staff, to the cleanliness of the academy, Charles Gracie Jiu Jitsu Academy is truly amazing. If you’ve ever thought about getting yourself and/or your kids into Jiu Jitsu, whether it’s to compete or to get some exercise, I highly suggest you take an introductory class that they offer. Both the staff and the students are more than willing to help! Strangers turned into friends and friends turned into family at the Charles Gracie Academy in Elk Grove. 10/10 highly recommend. I have my 7 and 5 year old sons attending twice a week. Nothing but great experiences so far. Both of my sons love the coaches and enjoy attending and learning. I couldn't recommend them enough if you are looking to enroll your child in a martial art program.

I just started training for the first time a few months ago when this place opened. I can't tell you how impressed I am with the staff. If you think you are too old to start something new, think again. I am in my mid 40s and I love it. There is an amazing sense of brotherhood here and I can't wait to get back to class.
