We just started and the instructors and fellow students are all so helpful and patient.
We joined the Cedar Rapids ATA Family Martial Arts Family back in May of 2024. We have siblings who are in the tiny tiger class together. Our kiddo's are doing really good and learning many different things such as respect, honesty and discipline. One of my favorite things though is that they are teaching my kids what to do incase they become loss and or a stranger to take them. They also do birthday party events to which is extremely fun.
I just joined last week and they are so incredible to work with as an adult I haven't been the most physically active since high school but ever since joining I feel alot more accomplished and truly proud of the hard work and commitment they make to train you the sensei's are fantastic and never discourage you highly recommend this whether your a kid, teenager or an adult truly an amazing experience and can't wait to keep learning and building my martial arts knowledge
This place has been a fantastic for our kid and his development. As a human being. He lost lots of fun and the instructor seem to be very engaging and appreciating of all their students, no matter how old the student is
We joined 7 months ago and it was the best decision for my boys. They are 9, 7, and 5. After watching their confidence and self control grow for 6 months, I was finally convinced to join classes and I’m so happy I did! It’s so fun to be involved in class and “compete” with them. This is something I wish I could have started when I was younger and I’m glad my boys get to!
We have been apart of the ATA family for about 2 years! We love the environment! Love the staff! The classes challenge the kids in many ways, helps with behaviors, as well brings in importance of other life aspects like school. These guys are great highly recommend!

My son recently joined, last night (11/26) was the first class he’s attended. Everyone was so patient and kind with him and willing to jump in and help him learn. Very happy we found this place!
My kids love coming to Taekwondo. They have made new friends and best of all they have gained confidence in their abilities. The instructors are too notch and I am so happy that I found Samurai Martial Arts.
Absolutely amazing crew here. They work so well with all the kids and you can tell the care! My son is so excited for every class and has been so much more active because of it!

The ATA family is an amazing place. It really helps build your confidence and show you discipline. They are a little hard on you but nothing crazy and they really strive to have you do your best and not give up. You can also build good habits and more respect for yourself and others.p
This is the perfect place to learn Taekwondo. The people here are super friendly easy to work with. I would recommend this place to everyone I know.

I highly recommend this place. It has helped my son become disciplined, listen better and follow rules. It is helping him become more independent and know when to defend himself. The teachers are very professional. I give them a 10/10.

My son absolutely loves it ant ATA in CR. Miss Elsher and Mr Gallea are amazing instructors. I have noticed my sons confidence go through the roof already after his first class as well as his respect at home.

My 11 year old son has been at Singewald ATA for almost a year, and he loves it. His coordination and confidence has grown incredibly. The curriculum is very positive and not only includes martial arts, but lessons in confidence, honesty, trust, and hard work. The teachers have high expectations and are also approachable.
I can't say enough good things about Cedar Rapids ATA. They have such a great structure for taekwondo where kids want to follow directions and they do. They include home, school, as well as ATA goals to move up in belts. They also provide opportunities for fun activities outside of taekwondo which allows the kids to form bonds outside the mat as well. If you're looking for a place for taekwondo, this is legitimately the place to go!
My son (10) was starting to struggle with self confidence and has had a problems with bullies most of his school career, since starting with Mr. Gallea and Ms. Elsher I have seen a big boost in his confidence and he isn’t as hesitant to go to school anymore. I’m so happy Mr. Gallea peaked his interest when he went to his school as a guest to show the kids some moves, he’s always tired after a session but hasn’t regretted a single one.
Our kids absolutely love it here and Mr Gallea and Miss Elsher are amazing teachers as well. Master Singewald has done wonderful job as well and it’s like a big family.
Our kids love Cedar Rapids ATA!! The knowledge they learn doesn’t just stay in class it goes with them for life!!

Our son is 6 and in the Tigers classes (4-6 age group) for about 7 months now and he has grown so much. He is more confident and polite. The staff and instructors are all amazing and are great with the kids. We absolutely love our ATA family and can't wait to see our son grow and learn more and more over the years. Highly recommend!!

Our 5 yr old daughter was invited to a birthday party here today and this was the coolest birthday party ever! He was immediately teaching them about self control, confidence, stranger, danger and respect. He was so amazing with the kiddos and my daughter was super sad to leave, we're looking forward to trying the intro class. It was really awesome to watch how the instructor worked with and taught the kids!

As many elementary kids do, my son wanted to try every sport but I could tell we just hadn’t found the right thing yet… then Covid happened. Coming out of the ‘lock down’ he really didn’t have interest in doing anything. A friend referred us to Cedar Rapids ATA and we gave it a shot. The joy on my sons face and enthusiasm towards going to class made my heart happy! He joined the leadership program and fell deeper in love with leading and mentoring other students. After 2 short years he earned his 1st degree black belt at 12 and has no plans to stop. He has not only grown in skill but also in character and confidence.
My shy daughter has learned so much through positive reinforcement, positive interaction with others, and becoming more confident with herself. I would highly recommend!!!
Exceeded my expectations! Our 6 yr old just started Taekwondo a few months ago. She loves it. This place is more than teaching martial arts but also helping to grow as individuals teaching valuable life lessons. Very impressed!

I have been so impressed with the Tiger program (4-6 year olds) my daughter started over the summer. She is learning about honesty, responsibility, discipline and self-defense skills in a fun and supportive environment. The instructors and leadership program students are amazing. She looks forward to coming every week and is so proud when she is recognized for her accomplishments. A great experience. Highly recommended.

We have been with Mr. Evans for 2 months and within only the first 2 weeks, we saw such a huge difference in Jax. The amount of confidence he's gained from this program is amazing. There's so much room for independence, growth and learning here for all ages. The smile that the kids have everyday on that mat is just the start of why we will keep going back. I am a former student of Evan’s ATA and went from white belt to black belt at this academy. A relative asked me about martial arts options for her young son and I felt the need to write a review. I started with Tae kwon do, getting my first degree black belt at 11 after about 3 years. I now compete and train jiu jitsu and the incredible lessons taught to me by Mr. Evander and his staff remain useful today. If your child also struggles socially, I would definitely recommend the classes (especially leadership). It gave me the confidence and strength of character I know exhibit. Dear Evan’s ATA, thank you for making me who I am today.

Very impressed with the friendliness and the professionalism.
Best Instructor in the midwest. He is patient with my daughter. He will even get to her level and explain things to her. He is very good with youth. He does so much to help parents. Snow days he will even have Taekwondo day camp to help parents. He loves what he does and you can tell. My daughter is extremely shy and I can see a huge difference in her confidence. I would recommend him to anyone!!!!

Our daughter is about to become a black belt in the next few months. She has shown a great amount of growth since she joined taekwondo with Mr. Evans. I couldn't be happier with the way the classes are structured and the way the school has developed. I can't wait to see what the future holds for our daughter at Evans ATA black belt academy!!!!!!! Taekwondo has given my son self confidence and allowed him to finally feel comfortable in a social setting. It's given him a safe place so to speak where people don't define him based on his stuttering and anxiety. He's also doesn't feel less than when he can't keep up with other kids because of his asthma. There aren't enough words to describe and thank Evans ATA and EVERYONE there for helping get him to the place he is today.

Great Staff and facility. Kids learn Martial arts, the value of honesty, hard work, and respect. They also get great exercise and have some fun.
This place rocks! My son loves the material and the friendly attitude shown by all of the instructors. Top notch work in teaching kids (and adults) discipline, boosting confidence, and personal fitness. I highly recommend. Edit: We no longer are members at this martial arts school. Once the ownership changed hands in mid 2023, the quality of instruction really took a plunge and their prices jumped very high. They essentially teach gym class with a few taekwondo moves. Very disappointed.
