An amazing addition to Los Angeles BJJ. Facilities are excellent. Schedule is flexible and plentiful. Most importantly, John Evans is the most technical grappling instructor I have ever met (also special shout out to Riley Stearns). This is a great place to train no matter your level or goals.

The head coach John Evans gives Expert level instruction in a simple and easy to understand way. World class Jiu Jitsu in a friendly and safe environment where ego is left at the door and learning is the most important thing. So glad I joined.

John Evans not only has an almost encyclopedic depth of knowledge of both gi and nogi jiu jitsu, he has a dedication to his students growth and development that you would be hard pressed to find anywhere else. And it shows itself in both the talent level he attracts and quality of the welcoming community he's fostered. I love training at Breakdown Academy and would recommend to everyone to stop in for a visit to see what it's like.

Great location with on site parking! Located within Self Made, in the first building. Beautiful facility and the best instruction around. Not only do you get top notch jiu-jitsu but every weight and machine you can imagine. There is also a sauna, you can schedule for a small fee, on site. Highly recommended, stop by and see for yourself. Tell John you saw this review and you'll get a free trail class, he's the owner and head instructor by the way.
