Was on vacation in Madrid, and had an itch to train. I googled "BJJ" in my area, and Malasana came up first, as the school had the most reviews and was just 15 minutes walking distance from my hotel.I reached out to Professor Rodrigo via Google Chat and he responded to my questions within an hour. The dropin fee was 10 Euros, the school had a lockeroom with showers, and the professor would loan me a gi for class. Sounded like a deal. I attended the 630pm gi class and it was an hour and half long. We did the traditional shrimping, running, stretching warmups, 4 excellent de la riva techniques were shown, and we rolled. I had 4 good rolls with some white, blue, and purple belts. My training partners were all skilled, friendly, and grom all over the world. The experience definately scratched my training itch. Professor Rodrigo could not have been anymore accomodating to this BJJ junkie. I highly reccommend Brazilian Jiujitsu Malasana if you are in the Madrid area! (Dont forget to buy a liter of water from the grocery store on the same street. You will need it!)
Posted 2 months agoPassing through Madrid, so what better way to break up touristing than with an hour of rolling at an open mat. I contacted Rodrigo, head coach and the Friday evening open mat fit in perfectly with my plans. When I arrived Rodrigo was very welcoming and so was everyone there. About 11 of us (I think. I had 6 rolls. 4 before I took a break and then another 2 rolls. All really fun rolls. If you're going through Madrid and are looking to get a BJJ session in, then definitely contact Rodrigo and the Malasaña crew. Highly recommended!!

Posted 5 months agoLoved my time here. Rodrigo was knowledgeable with technique and took the time to give students pointers throughout the drilling time. He was super welcoming for myself and my friend visiting from Australia and took the time to explain technique in Spanish as well as English. The club culture was fantastic, everyone was really supportive of one another. I highly recommend signing up to this gym, or even dropping in if you're from out of town. Thank you Rodrigo!
