WOW!!! About 2 years ago I met a friend when he was visiting Kauai He came and trained at our gym,Ihe had a good game that was different from the styles that we see in Kauai. Well needless to say 2 years later I made the trip over to train with him at Team Butler while prepping for ADCC. Upon walking in I was treated like family. Spent severely hours rolling, including Private lessons. The knowledge that I gained has been incredible. Thank you Team Butler for all you do for your students and the BJJ community.

Really great academy for all levels of experience and walks of life. Professor Jarrod promotes a very positive, friendly and safe environment offering something for everyone from self defense to competition to physical fitness. Professor and the coaches are very knowledgeable, they breakdown every technique in details, and check on all students during training sessions to point-out their mistakes and ensure the proper execution of each technique. Also they try to pair the new students with experienced trainers which is great because you can maximize your learning and get the most out of every session. All and all a great, friendly, clean and welcoming establishment to train, build your self-discipline, and enjoy the BJJ community.

This is a great academy. We signed our son up with the expectation for him to attend 2-3 days a week and learn self defense. He is now attending 6 days a week and the biggest benefit is his character growth and self discipline. The academy and community support is world class and truly inspiring. You have to trust the process and it is worth the investment for the entire family. This is more than a self defense class, it is a life lesson in self discipline, a growth mindset, and relationship building.

Enrolling our son to train with Team Butler 6 months ago was a life changing choice. We have seen immense growth in his character and mental fortitude. He is physically stronger and more dedicated as a son, brother, teammate, friend, and student. The technical instruction is next level. Our son joined with zero martial art experience but after several months of training, he was invited to join the competition team. He recently competed in his first competition. I am confident that he mustered the courage to step out on the mat that day because of the hours and hours of work from everyone at the academy. That day adult students from the academy volunteered to spend their day at the competition to support. It was an adult student who hugged my son after losing his first ever match and told him how proud he was of him for trying. My son will become a champion because of the world class training but it is the people of Team Butler that will help shape him into a good man. Professor and the other coaches at Team Butler show an unrelenting commitment to their students’ advancement and the academy as a whole. We receive regular update emails and there are concerted efforts to build community through social events. The other parents are welcoming and are always happy to lend a hand or give advice. The training at Team Butler is not easy and it will never be communicated as such. The students train hard and there are high expectations for cleanliness and good hygiene. Professor will not hesitate to call out disrespectful or inappropriate behavior from anyone at the academy. The high expectations make Team Butler a safe environment. We did not enroll our son to train with Team Butler with the intention of spending 6 days a week there but we could never picture anything different now. We have signed our youngest neurodivergent son up as well because we know that by trusting the process we will see him blossom with confidence and strength as well.

This has been a G R E A T experience for my family. What started as "let's try it" is now a daily priority for us to be on the mat. Professor Jarrod and coach Bella have created a wonderful culture that keeps us coming back for more!

My three boys and I made a trip to Bonney Lake specifically to train at this gym after hearing how fantastic the training and people are. Before I even entered the academy, parents greeted our family and welcomed us to the gym. The professor, coaches, students, and families were fantastic people and made us feel like a part of the team. As a longtime martial artist myself I have traveled to and trained at many gyms across the country over the last fifteen years. For my oldest son, I have been seeking an academy that pushes him to his potential in a safe and positive environment. Team Butler checks all those boxes and more. Their kids program is unique and very different from any kids programs I have seen. Most kids jiu jitsu programs are run in a factory style: generic warmup, teach one move, a few live rounds, and a game at the end. My sons have also attended academies where they have been intentionally injured and paired with unsafe partners. At Team Butler the training is rooted in live rounds- with the philosophy of learning through play and repetition. Coaches are all knowledgeable and high level competitors who truly care about each student who walks in the door whether it is a long term student or a drop in. The competition sessions are difficult but doing difficult things builds character, confidence, and grit that a child cannot get anywhere else. Professor Butler made sure each of my sons (ages 4, 6, and 8) were paired with a partner their size and who would push them to be their best. They make sure all students are in a safe training environment and maintain focus throughout the session. If you live in the area and want your children to become talented martial artists and learn skills (discipline, work ethic, confidence) that will transfer to all aspects of their lives this is definitely the place to be! Thank you for welcoming us like family. We would love to visit again!
