Blue Dragon checked off all the things we wanted in a taekwondo school, and more. We knew what we wanted and what we didn't want in a school - it was no to a franchise, multiple schools, or commercial brand named school, etc. Yes to Owner/instructor who is there and is either teaching the class or engaged with the kids/parents. Importantly, focus on overall development not just pushing students up belt levels whether they are ready or not. We did our due diligence, looked at various schools, and the reviews. Master Jimmy, Ms. Lisa, Sir Chris, are all phenomenal. Ms. Jeanine and Ms. Mary, also part of the team, are amazing as well - their kids often assist with the little ones which gives the younger ones insight on what they can achieve. They are all there to help develop/guide the kids into the best versions of themselves. Our daughter was a few months shy of her 4th birthday when we enrolled her 3 yrs ago. Blue Dragon has been a big part of her growth, not just in belt advancement. They balance fun with discipline with the Lil Dragons (ages 4-7). For Master Jimmy and his team, it's not just about learning self-defense, or being physically fit - more importantly it's about character development, discipline of mind/body, building confidence, setting goal(s) and working towards it, and to overall be a good human being. Blue Dragon is a great place for kids/adults. We cannot recommend this place enough.

Blue Dragon Martial Arts has effectively improved my son's confidence and physical ability. Through over a year of training, he has become faster and stronger. The staff is attentive and keeps the students focused. The students can rise through the belt levels only when they are ready. There is no rushing here. The staff also foster teamwork and bonds among the children. Blue Dragon is a wonderful place for students to learn Taekwondo.

Our son wanted to start martial arts training and a quick google search around the area showed three around where we lived. I decided to call around to all three and Master Jimmy was the only one who took time to answer our questions. We signed up for a weekly trial and never looked back, signing up for a six month contract right after. Unfortunately we are in the process of moving or we would still have our son enrolled here. We couldn’t believe the difference we saw in our son after he started taking classes here. He’s gain confidence in himself and his abilities. The instructors here will nurture your kids and allow them to see the best in themselves. We couldn’t have ask for a better experience. We will miss their guidance. I suggest you give it a try, even for a week and you will see first hand the great experience it will be.

Don’t look any further! This is the best Taekwondo School for you. We have been with Blue Dragon Martial Arts since 2009. Master James Hsu, Miss Lisa and Sir Chris are the friendliest most amazing instructors. Not to mention, perfect mentor for your children. They work with each child/adult to strengthen and achieve their goals. They care about their students! From our experience, just to mention a few things that they have helped with. Our kids have become more confident, disciplined, dedicated, respectful, motivated, competitive, helpful, patient, kind, and understanding. So happy to be part of the Blue Dragon Family💙 Classes for all ages. Everyone needs to know self defense! Call today🥋

My son Grayson who just recently turned 5 years old has been going to Blue Dragon for the past 6 months and he absolutely loves it! He is in the LIL' Dragons class and I am amazed at the progress he has made since he started in August of 2022. Master Jimmy and his entire team are very professional and treat all of the students with respect and teach them the same respect and discipline at such an early age. I am happy that we found Blue Dragon and I look forward to watching Grayson achieve various belts and achievements at this school. I would recommend Blue Dragon to anyone from age 4-40. Another great aside is that my wife's uncle, Grandmaster Doug Cook, who is the Owner and Instructor at Chosun Taekwondo Academy in Warwick NY and also oversees the United States Taekwondo Association, personally recommended that we have Grayson join Blue Dragon after he vetted out various schools in the Monmouth County region. He had a great discussion with Master Jimmy prior to Grayson joining and he told us that Blue Dragon would be a great fit. He was right and we all couldn't be happier! Thank you to Master Jimmy, Sir Chris, and Ms. Lisa!

My son started with the school over the summer. He loves it!! Master Jimmy and everyone else made him feel very welcome from the moment he walked in. I would recommend this school to anyone looking for a school committed to getting their students to be the best that they can be, both physically and mentally. Master Jimmy looks for his students to be held accountable and respectful. Very happy with the classes my son is experiencing!

My son started with Blue Dragon in March of ‘22, and we are so happy ! Blue Dragon Martial Arts is a family centered and amazing place to be a part of . Our son loves going to class . Master Jimmy is one of the best teachers I know . He is patient , funny and loving , while at the same time strict and authoritative . I like the traditional approach taken , where students are required to be respectful , disciplined and focused . Master Jimmy also instills the importance of community service through school-wide participation in community events . I believe BDMA is instrumental in fostering the qualities needed to be successful, especially outside of Karate. Most importantly , in a short amount of time , we feel valued as an important part of the BDMA family .

I am really thankful to BDMA, master Jimmy and entire staff to educate my daughter the importance of social behavior and responsibility as a good citizen. This school not only teaches about the nuts and bolts of Taekwondo but also teaches them being responsible, accountable and respectful. My daughter now understands that the belts are not just received but earned with hard work, dedication and consistency. Thanks a lot Master Jimmy.

My son goes to Blue Dragons for several years now. I did not attend most of his practices through those years (unfortunately) , but today I came to see his belt testing. I was so impressed by not only my son's performance, I was impressed by the all students that I saw today. Master Jimmy, Ms. Lisa and Sir Chris are outstanding mentors, that teach students not only how to protect them selves and respect others, they also teach them to be responsible, with good manners and how to use common sense in life. I would like to THANK them for being a part of my son's life!

Blue Dragon Martial Arts is the Premier Taekwondo academy. Speaking as a life long martial artist who has trained in many arts in multiple schools i can honestly say no other school exhibits the integritty discipline and philosophy of true martial arts like BDMA. Master Jimmy is the head master and he makes sure that the pedigree of all his students are top notch. He will push you to your highest potential on the mats and out in the real world, you will be motivated and supported in achieving your goals and become proficient in self defense. Blue Dragon has taught me confidence, will power, situational awareness and the critical thinking skills that can be applied to any vocation. I owe a great debt to the Blue Dragon family and am proud to say that I am a part of it.

I met Master Jimmy when I was 6 years old and trained under him until I left for college. When you train under Master Jimmy, you learn more than just martial arts; you learn how to be a better version of yourself. I am 23 now and I still apply the lessons I learned from him everyday. He challenges his students to reach new heights in their training as well as their academic lives. He is more than just your average martial arts instructor. He is a life-long mentor and friend. All my friends, who I have trained with at Blue Dragon, have gone off to be incredibly successful in their respective careers. Master Jimmy will always go the extra mile to help his students and he will encourage you to go the extra mile with him. I have many fond memories of this place and I could go on for hours about it. Thank you, Master Jimmy, for all the lessons given over the years.

Blue Dragon Martial Arts has been a very important part of my children and families life. The positive influence Sir Jimmy and his entire team has on every student is impressive. Both of my son’s joined the school when one was three and the other was five. Through his classes he taught not only a sport and skill, but a way of life. Everything a parent would want. My son recently graduated with his Doctorate in PT. My other son is graduating with his Masters in OT next week. We keep in touch with many other students from Blue Dragon. They all have succeeded both in school and career but more importantly in life. I truly believe that having gone to this school was one of the best choices we made for our children. My husband also attended classes. He kept in shape and learned self defense. This is great for the whole family. Sir Jimmy and His wife Lisa and entire staff are kind, knowledgeable, caring, professional and the list goes on. Try a class. You will be glad you did.

Let me see, where do I begin?! I’ll start with saying that we’ve been part of the Blue Dragon FAMILY for 10 years now. My daughter started when she was 3 and loved it. Then, our son starting going when he was 3 and he’s 7 now. We just started back up again since COVID, he was a little shy to start back up again. But, after just 10 minutes of his first class, he felt right back at home! It’s only been 1 month, and I already see such a difference in my sons confidence, focus and strength! Master Jimmy, Miss Lisa and Sir Kris are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Look no further, this is the BEST martial arts place in NJ!!! 🥋 ❤️

Blue Dragon is an amazing place to be. My oldest son trained for many years there, all the way to a second degree black belt and my two older daughters trained for a few years too. Over a year ago, my youngest daughter started training at Blue Dragon and all I can say is, it’s great to be home. They learn so much more than martial arts at this school!! They have excellent instructors who constantly make sure that they recognize each child for their own strengths and they help them overcome their weaknesses. I have a 2 1/2 year old and I can’t wait to see him on the mat at Blue Dragon.

My son has been taking Taekwondo with Master Jimmy, Sir Kris, and Ms. Lisa a month before he turned 3 years old. He is turning 6 in November. He was one of the 2 children that formed the Lil’ Dragons program. At first I was skeptical to have him start so young, because he was timid and gentle. Almost 3 years later, he has become more disciplined, confident, focused, respectful, and determined. He has learned to be more competitive, motivated, and strive to do better with every class. He had gained strength, agility, and balance. The instructors are friendly, and wonderful with the students. Whether your 3 years old,60+, or have a disability, Master Jimmy, and we will welcome you to our BDMA family. There is a program for everyone. There is Taekwondo, boot camp, strength training, self defense, etc. My son loves Taekwondo, and I highly recommend Blue Dragon Martial Arts! We are a big happy family.

I have been a part of bdma since i was 8. I remember martial arts being a huge part of my childhood. Master jimmy is great with young kids as well as teenagers. Bdma members learn respect, discipline, and perseverance. I have also been a part of bdma boot camp for 3 years now. Out of all the trainers I’ve had, my best results have come from being trained by Master Jimmy. I’ve never felt more confident and strong. The boot camp class targets all levels! Each person has individual attention and works at their own pace. It’s so exciting to see results when we get new members!

My sons and I opened up our first martial arts school over 22 years ago in New Jersey. Master James touch the lives of many students ranging in ages from 3 to 70 years of age as well as those whom had no martial arts experience to those who have had their 4th° black belt. Throughout their martial arts training, Master James instills a sense of discipline, perseverance and confidence that promotes a lifetime of success in his students. Mastered James has watched many students grow, thrive and grow stronger showing no fear in the face of adversity. Master James treat all of your students as if they were his own family. From the bottom of my heart, I wish Master James "Two thumbs up!". I am proud of what Master James has accomplished at Blue Dragon Martial Arts.
